For anyone looking to go this far, here’s the requirements beyond what you saw here -
This is only the beginning and, believe it or not, the cheaper part of this build. The owner needs a re-gear front and rear. Parts alone for that average ~$2000 after tax. Labor rate for this varies widely, but expect ~$2500-$3000.
Most people pop for a front locker during re-gear because it’s already torn apart. This is another ~$2000 with tax and labor if done at same time.
Fender liner needs to be trimmed out in the rear & pinch weld needs to be cut and hammered down then under coated. Otherwise when the suspension settles the front tires will be cut up bad by the sharp pinch weld.
Last but not least, and assuming this vehicle will be taken off road even a little, it will require a “fender cut”. This is because when the tire is stuffed into the wheel well during up-travel, it will smash into the fender above. This can be done diy. To do this the plastic front fender flares need to be removed, and the metal fender needs to be cut for about 1-1.5” of clearance. If done correctly you can reattach the plastic flare.

Wish someone would post a video on what to do with the fender liners after the high clearance bumper cut!
We took ours and heat molded them back and used zip ties to make like a guard to cover most of what was left open. It does take extra heat to keep from flexing the rest of the wheel liner out into the range of the tire but it was a very clean and subtle look. I've seen many that actually take and just cut the liner off.

The Goodyear MTRs super heavy weight alone will negate a regear, had those tires before they are horrible in rain also. If the offset was more negative than those small Methods, the BMC would need more work. .. and hammered pinch welds, remove the rear liners and just roll w rubberized paint over them. I got a magnuson blower on mine and that should be required for all lifted 4R's lol. The covid commentary on communist china masks and 'social distancing' was cringe. Down here in orange county nobody wore a mask at any automotive shop and nobody died not even once lol

Honest question. As a daily driver will I be ok to run 35s with a regear? Wont do any hardcore off-road just some slow trail riding. Basic trials nothing crazy. 6 inch rough country and 35s?
Rough Country is trash. It’s a lot of work to properly clear but if you do it properly then it can be a daily.

I want to tell you that you do some awesome work. If see you put all different lifts on the 4Runners. I have a 2018 TRD PRO and would like some advice. The stock tires seem small for the 4Runner. I would like to use the stock rims. What is the biggest tire that would fit and not rub? I was hoping that I could get 33’s to fit.

Not sure on brand, it’s something our friends over at the body shop gets. He has a ton so he pulls it out and cuts us a strip to have handy for these jobs. Works like a charm and it’s amazing quality.
Get you some door edge guard at your local autozone. Work great for bumper cut
You can order door trim pieces from Amazon too. I used the same style when I trimmed up my side skirts on my 2010 4R. It cleans up the look and makes an amateur job look good.

Old video but, what do you guys connect the fender liner to on the inside of the bumper? Looks more clean than cutting the liner in half and just leaving open for the most part.

So do you guys regear after that 35" upgrade?
We no longer offer regearing here due to space and time that we have. We're a small shop so we need the racks for work. But yes, all 4Runners are recommended to be regeared with 35's.
And to answer your question, this customer did on his own I believe. All of our personal trucks are regeared here. We just come on a holiday or a Sunday to do our personal vehicles.
Well at least it still has the TRD Pro Badge. lol

There’s not much you can do to them other than a spacer lift in terms of suspension.

@@thehayman7352 i agree. It would have been cool if 4runner can do 35 without chopping. Jeep and Broncos can do it, but again to be functional they would have to lift it.
