Counterintuitively as a child of over controlling or abusive parents, your urge is to fight back/runaway and victimize yourself but this just perpetuates the pain and leave you stuck in the dysfunctional relationship, the thing to do that’s more effective is to love and accept them even more in a non detached way where you accept them for who they are but not form your identity around the dysfunction and through not reacting to them it can transform the relationship.

A few counter-intuitive concepts i can think of:
    1. Cold turkey - It’s easier to go cold turkey and abstain completely from all temptation than limiting it.
    2. Correcting someone - If someone says something wrong you want to correct them but that usually just agitates them.
    3. Focusing on the negative - You usually focus on the negative because you want to fix that area to be happy but usually what happens is that the problem just grows bigger when focusing on it and you stop appreciating the positive.
    4. Being passive - Doing nothing all day seems better than it is. Being active, challenging ourselves, going outside our comfort zone is what really makes us happy and alive.
    5. Self help - Self help sometimes creates problems instead of fixing them. Negative sources can make you feel bad about yourself or not productive enough making you feel worse and get less productive.

  • @RIPDerek20

The first step to overcoming a problem is admitting you're powerless over that problem. Life is all about being counter intuitive. Another example, the best way to grow confidence is by submission to those around you since your optional powerlessness will empower you to control the things you can control.

Best counter-intuitive method Ive used so far is the one discussed by Betinho Massaro in his youtube video “you can’t win from a belief. Instead admit defeat and be free.” It has changed my life.

    Counter Intuitiveness Part 1
Evan Pagan’ book talks about CI in business and female attraction.
    Success in anything is CI.
The fool takes the most obvious route. You should rethink most obvious ways people takes in life.
    Appreciate how tricky reality is.
Always look for CI move in important decisions in life.
CI moves separate you from the herd.
CI is more like counter logical.
Intuitive solutions require you to take into account that things aren’t working in a straight linear path.
Ci is the opposite of common sense. It’s the emotionally difficult thing to do but then the logical thing is emotionally easier to do.
    Wisdom itself is Ci.
Ci is how to get good in spotting wisdom.
    Reverse psychology is counter intuitive.
    The greatest strategists are CI
    Examples.
    Business:
    - Pursue maximum profits in business. In a short run you can make some money but in the long run you will loose to a company that was building a strong brand.
    - Try to appeal to everybody. Ci move is to think about specific market that may need your product.
    - If you desperate to get a sale you will won’t get a sale. People will think that your product don’t have any value because you pushing it so hard. Ci move is to make people come to you for the product.
    - 80/20 rule. 80% of your results is coming from 20% of your effort.
20% of the work you do is responsible for 80% of your profits. Ci move is to cut everything else and focus on what gives you profit.
    Attraction:
    Female attraction is very ci.
Being nice guy does not work, girls are attracted to assholes, because being nice means you don’t have any value. The same thing like being desperate to make a sale.
The less committed you are to a girl the more attracted she will be.
Bragging and boasting is not attractive to women.
Start talking about how low quality you are. You don’t come off as desperate and needy.
Attraction phase is only an hour long.
The hotter the girl - tell her the smaller penis you have.
    Investing:
    - Buy when the market is crashing. When everyone is excited and market is going up - sell.
    Hedonism:
Seeking physical pleasure won’t lead to a best life possible, it leads to an enormous pain. Ci move is to pursue enlightenment.
    Parenting:
Ci not to lecture a child. Child will do the opposite to spite you.
Child needs to learn from making mistakes. You want your child to experience life, to understand that failure is not bad.
Saving pennies will lose you dollars. By buying cheapest products you will loose money.

    • @UrbanBoy2k
      @UrbanBoy2k 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Part 2
      Education:
False that most educated people are the smartest. This makes you less
conscious because you stuck in a logical mind.
      Evil:
By trying to stop evil you are creating evil. Ci move is to love evil, when you have deep understanding of life you’ll see that hating evil adds move evil on top of the evil.
Love ones sins to death. Don’t try get rid of the evil by hating you own evil, this way you won’t project your evil to an external world. Melt your sins away with love.
      These are live transforming examples.
By avoiding work you create twice more work.
      Control:
It’s ci to give up manipulation. When you let go of control you will notice how your relationships will go smoother.
For parents: stop controlling your children. By trying to control your child to be the best they can possibly be, ironically you making them weak and reliant on you.
      Being cool:
By trying to be cool you care too much and you end up being try-hard. The real cool is to not care.
      Patience:
By doing stuff quicker you end up doing stuff twice.
      People pleasing:
By pleasing people they end up respecting you less, not more. If you not respecting yourself why would others respect you?
      Negotiation:
You need to come in negotiation not needing the thing you negotiating for. You need to negotiate from the position of detachment.
      Life purpose:
You can’t follow you passion because you hung up chasing money. You not passionate about money, you passionate about passion.
      Pursuing goals:
Little goals are harder to accomplish then bigger goals. Little goal won’t inspire you to pursue them. Losing 5kg is harder then loosing 50kg. Because you won’t even notice the difference there.
      Meditation:
The less time you have to meditate the more you need it. It’s ci to meditate for 60mins a day. If you want to be smarter or creative stop thinking. Doing nothing is hard. Try to do nothing for 10 days. Sit for 10 days and do nothing. You the most creative when you not trying to be. On the weekends I’m the most creative.
It’s ci to be a man. By acting macho you come off as a strong beta. Embracing feminine side makes you stronger. You resist going into Green when you are not embracing your feminine side.
Ci move to give away 10% of the money you make. Not giving up money makes you think that money is scarce. Try for one year give away 10% of your income.

    • @UrbanBoy2k
      @UrbanBoy2k 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Part 3
      Create a good portfolio.
Ci is to pick top 5% of your work and add it to portfolio. It needs to be small and well polished.
Ci move to give credit to other people, because you think that it will take credit from you. Be so confident that you didn't care about giving credit to other.
      Solving problems:
Ci you have to leave the problem alone. In a couple of days solution will come and problem will be solved. You not pushing yourself to be creative.
      Love:
Most of the people think that you can surround yourself with lovely objects, like having beautiful man or woman in your love. But love is not about getting stuff, it’s about radiate your love to the outer world. You can’t take love from the person who radiates love. You want to give love back because you are being loved back. Nobody want’s a love vampire.
Ci is to love yourself more when you fail. Like a mother would love as a child when you failed in something.
      Relationships:
Intuitive thing to make your own needs met. I’m in a relationship with you so you can satisfy me sexually and be around when I’m feel bad.
You need to do exactly opposite.
Satisfy your own needs so much, that you don’t care about them anymore. And you can care only about your partner. Of course your partner needs to be on a same level as you.
Every time we suffer a piece of armor being created and you think that now you are invulnerable. This way you cut yourself off from life and from feelings. Ci move is to surrender your armor and make yourself more vulnerable. The best life is a vulnerable life.
      Freedom:
Too much freedom is backfires and creates chaos. By creating good government regulations and strategically regulating rules - maximizes freedom.
      Changing complex systems:
If you want peace you have to have strong military to youse it for defending only.
      Ideals:
You think that having high ideals is really good. But by having ideals you creating something that never can be achieved. Reality is different and by having high ideals you will only suffer by not achieving them.
      Anger:
You think that anger is authentic expression of your emotion. But it’s actually a denial of being hurt. And expectance of being hurt is super ci.
      Suffering:
We recoil the suffering and trying to create armor to shut and destruct ourself from suffering. Ci move to do is actually fully feel the suffering with mindfulness. Suffer it really hard. By resisting suffering most suffering gets created. Embody is really hard. That’s why spirituality is so hard to master. Suffering is spiritually purifies you.
      Fear:
A lot of people will think and worry and fear challenging situation. They think that if they will worry about the situation they somehow will prevent it. But by the law of attraction you will attract the situation you are thinking about. So if fearful about lack of money you will attract poverty. And it will program you into a poverty mindset.
You think about love and you needy, when you do get this relationships with your partner, you will be so needy that you will repel your partner and he will leave you. And you will leave in a self-fulfilling prophesy.
Ci with fear is to face it head on. Go into the fear and though that you will concur your fear you’ll realize that your fear is just an illusion. Illusion is an appearance that mimics reality but it really is not.
It’s ci not blame other people.
It’s ci to listen to criticism. It easier to close to criticism and criticize back. Not to accept that someone might know more than you.
      Minimalism:
It’s ci to see that less is more. Minimalism is actually harder then non minimalism design.
The more minimalist live you have the more time you have to do stuff that really matters.
      Open midness:
By opening your mind you become unattached to beliefs.
      Selfishness:
It’s ci to live a selfish life. You’d think that by living selfish life, by trying to manipulate people and work your way to the top you’ll become happy. But ci you need to surrender this way of living and dedicate it to others. To love others, to love the world.
      Projection:
When we deny something within ourself and then we see it everywhere out in the world. Your mind does it know that you doing this suppression. Anger is a projection.
      Denial:
When you in denial you are in denial that you are in denial.
      Skepticism:
Ci to be skeptical about your ideas and not direct it into outer world.
      Thinking:
Ci to realize that there are people that has different brain and that they experience reality differently than me.
      Happiness:
By seeking happiness you are already unhappy. To be happy you need to be happy by whatever is happening it the present moment. People always seek happiness in the future and they missing that happiness is in the present moment. You need to be happy when you sad or when you facing a problem and that’s ci.
      Sacrifice:
It’s ci to sacrifice your queen in chess game. Most people are worried to losing you queen in life, that they end up losing your king. You need to surrender whatever you can in order to have most valuable things protected.
Focusing on one thing is ci. And not multitasking.
It’s ci to counseusly put yourself in challenging situations for self purification.
It’s ci to let go of emotions most people hold to emotions.
It’s ci to see failure as an opportunity. Not to get derailed by fail or demotivated.
It’s ci to admit that you’ve been wrong.
It’s ci not to justify yourself.
It’s ci not to change people.
It’s ci that money, sex and success don’t produce happiness.
It’s ci that achieving your goals won’t make you happy. No matter which goals you achieve you will never be happy. Because happiness is never found in the future it’s always found in the present.
It’s ci to select right romantic partner. Woman will select the biggest asshole, and men will select the most attractive woman that they can.
It’s ci love those who harm you.
      It’s ci to forgive.
It’s ci that you are GOD.
      Top 5 counterintuitive moves:
      1. Pursue truth at all costs. Even if self-agenda is threatened
      2. Live selflessly. For others and the world
      3. Love unconditionally. Radiate love
      4. Don’t seek material pleasure. Reject hedonism
      5. Die. Die while you still alive. Experience death while you alive
Have courage to execute on counter-intuitiveness.

This lecture reminds me of the first verse of . "Tao which can be said tao is not true tao. A name that can be named is not a true name."
The principle of the universe, tao, is natural. Everything should flow naturally like water. You should not create a frame and hold your thoughts. When you make an idea and concentrate on it, the idea invokes the opposite. Because everything has yin and yang, if you look at only one side, you create the opposite side as well.
If you say yes strongly, there will be a case to say no. If you say no strongly, there will be an event that you should say yes. This is the basic law of the universe.

I have been listening to your channel all night, for several hours. What a wonderful channel you have. I felt myself relating to a lot of the things you are preaching about, but didn't truly understand them until hearing the way you put it. It's so simple. You're just literally laying the truth in front of me exactly how it is, and my mind is finally open enough to accept these realities for what they are after so much self searching. I've spent years giving other people advice that they tell me is wonderful, but I never took the time to step away from who I built myself up to be, to take my own advice. Thank you, I think you've sparked a profound change in the way I perceive things. The cogs are all in place. It's only a matter of time and real effort towards self. Who knew loneliness would turn out to be such a gift.

What Leo says at 1.16 is bang on the money and something I’ve realised I and everyone does. Literally everyone assumes that the way they see a situation is how it is, and how can others behave in a certain way considering this is how it is. Wrong wrong wrong, everyone looks at things differently, if you can re-look at a situation through the eyes of someone else (even though it makes no sense to you, just morph into their mind like it’s a game) you will have great insights, it’s like a super power

Leo, the idea of hard work translating to success is highly counterintuitive. Many times the greatest success in any field comes as a surprise, when you didn't have the idea that you need to work hard to do something. So when you say to people on their journey to enlightenment that there's a lot of hard work ahead and you're going to have to work really hard for this, it creates the wrong mindset. Turns out the best meditation sessions come from having no expectations and dropping the I need to work hard mindset

Struggling to put into practice all the spiritual teachings I've learned from watching you, stuck in a major ego backlash,
My boss told me to come back and he will hire me right back after three months and I will be working directly under him
And said alot of people do better after in their 2nd go at the job.
He said alot, "don't try to drop, just drop."
And "you create the world you think in your mind."
I've been feeling in the midst of my backlash that I need to meditate be and act and live more spiritual.
And at around the 44 minute mark of the video,
I just figured out what Yoda meant when he said, "Do. Or do not. There is no try." To Luke.

I’ve been coming back to this episode for years
I’m still in the process of rewiring my brain
Holy shit though the amount of value in this episode alone is absolutely insane
Here’s a list of the counterintuitive moves I’m trying to implement in my life
    Dont judge ever
    Don’t control ever
    Give people a good time
Always provide massive value socially always more than you take
Put yourself in a position of strength in life to negotiate
That strength allows you to not need the sale
If your being controlled just leave
(means you need the ability to do so)
    Never fight back or condem
    Love evil to death
    Non reactiveness/patience
If you manage to get all of those qualities I wish I had them all
Holy hell who knows how far you could go in life
The secret though is that it all has to be CONGRUENT IT CANNOT BE INAUTHENTIC
Which means you have to work for years to make yourself a strong person
Literally rewiring the ways you respond to situations
    Something to note
People go crazy if they cannot control you
    They try to control you
You leave and don’t attack NEVER ATTACK
Then come back when control is gone and give them a good time
    They go fucking crazy

No offence, but to me it looks like you're getting lost in your own philosophy.
In one of the examples you said we don't need guns 'cause it won't protect us, but rather harm us ...and I totally agree with that statement. Then you go with another example where you claim we need military and guns, so we can protect our freedom.
These two doesn't make sense to me. Maybe I'm missing something??
Also, I think you're using word freedom too easily. I'm sure you already know that freedom is an abstraction and everyone sees it and interpret it differently ...while most ppl doesn't even know to define freedom.
Would love to hear from you, but I understand you can't answer on every comment here.

And it's not despite either, you'd make a hard case for yourself if you argue they'd be more successful by paying higher wages. They're not exactly a niche either like your other argument either. Granted if you START a company, going in a niche where competition is minimal is a good idea. But economy is not just a measure of being as counter-intuitive as possible: you provide value for other people and get compensation for that, supply and demand, there's nothing counter-intuitive about that.
As a genuine question, a counterintuitive approach to wisdom would be NOT to listen to wise people. How would that work?
But yes I agree there is a lot of fruit for grasp by exploring counter-intuitive ideas. Great talk.

McDonalds started to experience a huge backlash years ago which forced them to adopt greener, healthier menu items and eliminate the supersize option. If McDonalds stays pure Orange it will eventually go out of business. Compare to Chipotle which offers more green options and look how successful it became.
If your biz strategy is to be pure Orange, you will ultimately fail as all of society around you will slowly turn Green.

3:18 intro-ing with some Peterson bashing (I've listened to Peterson a lot recently, so this is my current frame of reference). Leo, was it intended as such? Would generally love to hear your opinion on all of his main talking points.

This counter-intuitiveness is throughly theorized in a book called Reality Transurfing, by Vadim Zeland. A mind blowing content.

I think it would be really interesting to do a video on how counter-intuitiveness in intimate relationships work. You touched on it a little in the video but I think it would be really helpful to a lot of people, including myself. Thanks again for the excellent content!

Here is another counter-intuitive heavy thought from Bhagwan (Osho) : "The one who always struggles to understand life, don't understand life. The one who never tries to understand life, really understand life."
I quote Osho's profound words from my memory, so i think it's only a relatively quote :D....thought the essence is there.
