as the kids exclaim: "first!" - its great to have a senior runner with full life experience on you tube. i just retired from full time work at age 58. After your last video I bought a pair of Novablast since my feet hurt.
hope they help. I am always fiddling around with running routines - trail runs vs. road....taking a day off vs. running two days in a row....hoping to run a half marathon. Thanks for posting another video.

I think the novablast should work out fine. A lot of foam underneath. Just keep up a nice pace and go foot flat. It works for me so far

@@afs1476 YES - BONDI 6 INITIALLY FELT LIKE A BOOT BUT BROKE IN NICELY. I HAVE SEEN REVIEWS THAT THE BONDI 7 FEELS MORE LIKE A RUNNING SHOE, HOKA IS DEFINITELY GOOD FOR MY AGE AND WEIGHT. THANKS.

Good advice for runners as we age. I have found that having a 3 shoe rotation minimizes muscle strains since each shoe taxes you a bit differently. So you can enjoy the Novablast once a week and avoid PF by going to your trusted Bondi for your other runs. The Bondi cleared up my PF years ago, so I always have it as one in my rotation.

Another great video, thanks for posting. I'm 54 and like you run (jog) 3 times a week. I like to switch out my runners often and recently tried a pair of Skechers with hyperburst. Great midsole. Soft, protective, responsive and incredibly light. I was really surprised to see the thickness of the midsole and corresponding protection in such a light runner. They are doing some innovative things with runners in their performance line. Not a company I considered in the past for running but my current experience has changed my mind. I know you like max cushioning with minimal weight, Skechers hyperburst check both those boxes.
Hope you keep posting, I do enjoy your runner reviews.

Mark , which sketchers did you get ? Was it the Go Run Maxroad 4 plus ?

@@afs1476 I got the razor 3 now. I was considering the max road 4 but I think it might be too much stack height for me. My next purchase will be the razor excess won't be out until April. Just a bit more midsole which should do me fine for longer runs, which aren't all that long for me. Based on your past posts take a look at the specs of the max road 4, I think you'll like it.

Also the max road 4+. Has a better upper then the max road 4, so they say.

got a low ball offer on eBay for the Maxroad hyper 4 + . I would not pay full price , but if I can get a deal I would pick up a pair . One of my videos where there is a photo of running in a race , notice I am wearing the 1st iteration of the Maxroad. I own 2 pairs that I use around the house . They were great shoes but they only lasted 6 months of running . the soles worn through pretty quickly . I use them as my comfort shoes after I run since they are the softest . Maybe the Maxroad hyper 4 plus could last longer with the goodyear rubber. The surface area is not very big since the rubber is in "pods"

just bought a lightly used pair of Sketchers Roadmax hyper 4 + for $55 plus tax and shipping . For that price I thought it was well worth it. Even if I don't run with them or find that they are wearing out underneath too fast , I could always use another pair of "house shoes" .

Hi! Thank you very much for keeping posting such interesting videos!
I'm glad you gave a 2nd chance to the novablast, and that they are working for you, with no foot issues, running once a week , congratulations!!
I bought a pair of novablast after your review because I think I need softness to deal with my PF, but they are still in their box, I will only wear them to walk around the house because my PF still doesn't allow me to go back to running!
    Hope they don't hurt me!
Definitely, we will miss your running shoes reviews, they are so helpful!! I deeply thank you for every single advice you have given me!!
Just out of curiosity, are you planning to give a 2nd chance to the NB fuelcell RC or TC?
About you back, are you aware of the work of Dr. Stuart Mcgill?
He has great result about back problems.
You can follow Remy Sovran in TH-cam, he has plenty of videos based on dr mcgill work.
Keep your self healthy, enjoy running!
    Best wishes!

berny , reviewed the short video you sent me . Yes these are old school exercises that really work . All of my career I worked with geriatrics so my approach was less aggressive for the over 80 crowd. The idea was similar but with lower back exercises and stretching that the old and very old could tolerate. Back in the day what was popular and is still used are Williams Flexion Exercises which was more of a stretching program . It is also important to keep your abdominals strong as they help protect the integrity of the back . I like that he mentioned not to do a full sit ups. The main thing I need to do in my routine is to weight lift very carefully. I'm holding 25 and 30 lb. dumbbells in each hand and bench pressing 135 lbs 2 sets of 10 so when I'm not careful , then I pay for it later . Tony

Berny , with PF , have you given the Hoka Bondi 7 a chance . As you know it has been my "go to" shoe for years and have keep my feet out of trouble. It is much more stable compared to the Novablast . That is why I'm only using the Novablast once a week. The Bondi is a more protective shoe with more construction and a higher stack of foam . Do some research on the Bondi if you are not familiar with it. It's even one of those running shoes recommended by podiatrists . Once your PF is gone if a shoe like the Bondi doesn't work then I don't know if there are any other alternatives . Maybe run less distances and definitely 3X a week so your feet have more time to recover. I never go barefoot in my house or anybody elses . I always wear cushioned running shoes , cushioned slippers or something similar . I get a PF briefly 5 years ago when we moved into this house that has mostly hard wood floors and I stated walking barefoot . Big mistake !

Are you still running with the ASICS Nimbus Lite 2?

    • @afs1476
      @afs1476  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

yes I am ,but it's my alternative shoe. My main 2x a week shoe is still the Hoka Bondi and 1x a week I will pull out the Nimbus Lite 2 or the Nike Invincible . I just bought a pair of Nimbus Lite 2 s for my adult son for his birthday . He has always been an Asics fan ,so I though I would get him something new that wasn't extreme like the nova blast or the Glideride.
