    Due to dietary changes, I'm starting my pantry from scratch and I'd love for you to join me. I have plenty of other pantry topics and videos lined up as I reorganize and grow my new prepper pantry.
    I'd like to know what are your challenges with your pantry? Do you already have a prepper pantry or are you just getting started?
    Thanks for watching! I can't wait to get this started with you! Let's do it!

    I just finished going through and cleaning and organizing my pantry . It took 3 days. My back was killing me by the time I was finished. I have enough food for 1 1/2 years of normal eating and could stretch it to 2 yrs if need be.

      Congratulations! It's hard work, but the peace of mind that comes with it is so worth it, don't you agree? I know my mind isn't as peaceful as it used to be when my pantry was fully stocked. I can't wait to start refilling it!

      @@HeartFilledKitchen Yes it was well worth it. I had to donate an astronomical amout of food 3 yrs ago due to my husband's medical issues. I was so nervous when my pantry was 1/4 Of what it had been. I had to get rid of all my canned vegetable and soups because of the salt content. I did make a close friend extremely happy. It totally filled her cars trunk and back seat. I have finally built my pantry back to what it used to be. I found libbys natural canned vegetable and they are amazing. No salt and they still taste great. I have always home canned my meat so other then tuna I didn't have to get rid of any because I use only a small amount of salt when I home can my meat.

      @lauraIngleswilder74 Home canning is on my list of to-dos. I have everything I need, but I just haven't taken the leap. I'm hoping over time, this channel and community will give me the courage to go for it.

    What a satisfying and beautiful job!! I bet this felt SO good after it was done. My main struggle with 3 young kids is keeping ANYTHING in stock. I usually have up to 2 weeks worth of meals stocked, but I haven’t been able to do more than that! Blessings to you!

    Living in an RV has its challenges. Also I eat WFPB but my husband does not. I also store freeze dried fruits and veggies. We no longer travel so I am swapping out to glass jars…tea from HEB? Used to live in Texas and I miss HEB,

    Great easy prepped pantry. Nice to see one that is not overwhelming. Just what I’m looking for.

    I’m concerned about your comment about expiration dates. I would encourage folks to research best by / sell by dates before donating / throwing away perfectly good food.

    • @HeartFilledKitchen
      @HeartFilledKitchen  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Oh yes. I agree. I understand the meaning of expiration/best buy dates, but some things actually do expire or mold. Those are mainly the things I mean.

    • @clintmcclurkin9055
      @clintmcclurkin9055 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      The expired date was not on produce until the late 80s if it is not leaking bulging or small bad it is ok the date means it is at its peak not bad after dates

      I noticed all the Campbells soups are gone. Loaded with bio engineered ingredients.

    • @HeartFilledKitchen
      @HeartFilledKitchen  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @karenlemoine2677 I stopped buying them. I'm trying to use less processed foods, and I'm adjusting my recipes to use whole ingredients as much as possible. If you had told me a year ago that I wouldn't need Campbell's cream soups, I wouldn't have believed you.

    My challenge is meal ideas with the can meats. I have a lot of glass jars and lock n lock containers.

    I would suggest you date everything so you can also know how long it takes to use the item.

    I have no particular sensitivities so changing over the strengths in my pantry to focus more on Protein, and introduce more gluten free items was not as overwhelming a change as you faced.

    • @HeartFilledKitchen
      @HeartFilledKitchen  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In my initial clean out, I still held on to a lot of things that I shouldn't have. So in this second round, I finally got rid of it. My goal was also to eliminate the highly processed foods and become a mainly ingredients based pantry instead. I still have room to grow in that area.

    I have been a prepper for years now, my daughter was diagnosed with celiac about a year ago and it really took me for a spin. I have slowly been building up a supply for her- it’s been so trial and error as she is 10 and not an adventurous eater. She also has a tree nut allergy which is life threatening so we are very careful to read ingredients. I have 3 other children and a growing husband (🤣) going gluten free is expensive so we made the decision no one else would go gluten free. I will say, a ton of our meals I have been able to adapt to meet her needs. If we eat spaghetti- she eats her gluten free noodles and we eat regular- but the sauce and everything in it I ensure is safe for her. I also have a homemade enchilada sauce recipe that I have adapted with her gluten free flour and then we purchase the mission gluten free tortillas or use corn tortillas- we have regular flour ones. This way she is eating the same thing as us with a few adjustments. And I always prepare hers first for cross contamination purposes. And we use different serving utensils. The most shocking part for us was that she would need her own peanut butter jar (thankfully her allergy is not peanuts!)- since you dip the knife in, spread it on the bread and potentially back into the jar. I bought stickers that say “gluten free” from Amazon to label her peanut butter, jelly, butter, and cream cheese. It’s been a huge aid to my pantry! Also- we live in a great time yo be gluten free- SO many choices available and a lot of info at our disposal!!

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I try to be careful, but I'm still figuring things out. It's so much easier when I only have to worry about myself. My husband is low carb/keto but he won't get sick if I mess up. The best way to avoid messing up was to get rid of it, but as you can see in the video, I still had a lot of lingering items. It has definitely been a learning process.

    Do you have a SUCCESSFUL tip for getting crystallized honey from a quart jar? I haven’t found a “great” method yet. “Digging it out” is a pain…. Setting the jar in hot water doesn’t seem to work either. Very frustrating. Any solution you’ve found???

    • @HeartFilledKitchen
      @HeartFilledKitchen  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Putting it in a pan of water and heating it to a low boil is the only method I've used. It does take a little time, but once it starts to melt, I just stir, and it goes pretty quickly.

    How many people do you think are actually doing this?

    • @HeartFilledKitchen
      @HeartFilledKitchen  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think more than ever. It's not always referred to as "prepping". I believe, especially since 2020, that more and more people are figuring out ways to stay "stocked up" in case they're unable to get to the store or if any kind of disaster strikes. It just seems like the responsible thing to do. Food Insurance
