People who don't have acne will never understand the self-doubt and mental problems it can cause. I have been struggling with it for ten years but I am not giving up
Do you use acne handsoap, and if so, do you use it when you also wash your hands, if not, then that is the reason you still have acne. Use acne handsoap. It doesn't have to be difficult
As a skinny lad struggling to bulk up and get rid of acne, Joe's videos have always been really relatable and helpful. He always goes straight to the point with no bs. Thank you so much for these bangers 🙏
As someone who have the same experience with this medication, I was basically seeing myself in this video. I had my worst months of my life in terms of self confidence when I was taking the medication. But I am happy with the result now and it totally worth it. I am now acne free.
@@cake557 through the nhs, you speak to your gp, who'll refer you to a dermatologist if you've already tried other medications like epiduo and lymecycline. they may ask you to email some photos of your acne that'll be sent to the dermatologist. after some time you'll get a letter with your appointment date to see the derm, during which they'll examine your acne, discuss accutane then give you a form to get your bloods done at the surgery. you'll be given another appointment where they weigh you to determine the dose, after which the hospital prescribes you accutane. you'll get your bloods done fairly regularly at first to ensure your liver is in order. if you're a woman, you'll need to take two negative pregnancy tests before you're given accutane, so it might take a bit longer. for me, it took 14 months total to be prescribed accutane on the nhs: 1 month for a referral > 11 months for a letter from the derm > 1 month for first appointment > 1 month for second and prescription. my referral was downgraded to routine "due to service pressures" which is why it took so long. i was on accutane for 10 months. you can also get it privately if you don't want to wait, but it's expensive.
Good job man, I’m 15 and currently battling this and I’ve been thinking of hoping on this drug for 2 years now and thanks to you and Joe the decision has been made happy for you tho
I had severe acne when I was in school, around 15-17 and got prescribed roacutanne and took it for about 5-6 months I think, it got a lot worse at the start but gradually cleared up my skin and I’ve never had acne since, was all over my back and was even bleeding through my t-shirts! Hope it gets better for you joe:)
@@DokiOffical hey man I’m 25 now and 6ft1 but had a pretty early growth spurt so I wouldn’t say it stunted my growth but I didn’t grow much from the age of 16 onwards so it’s tough to say hope this helps dude

Joe, I have been suffering from cystic acne for years and from someone who has been on all kinds of medications throughout my journey I just want to say how proud I am of you and your determination to battle acne! Congrats on winning the figh and keep doing what you're doing!
I had acne worse than Joe and fixed it naturally please listen. Prolonged fasting (at least 3 days) Sunlight Animal based diet (look up Paul saladino) These 3 things completely got rid of my cystic, whitehead and blackhead acne and please do your research on these topics and you’ll see the same results.
Its incredible to come across your channel again after not seeing it for a long time to see you have now not only hit 100k subscribers but over a million hats off to you the compounding effect has certainly taken effect here because you have just kept showing up and remained consistent with your uploads, well done mate! Regarding acne ive suffered with it on and off since i was 13 and i tried all sorts of medications oral and topical antibiotics which eventually led me to also use accutane. it was by far the most potent drug i had taken but also the most effective my confidence was obliterated to begin with due to my appearance with acne so mental health wasnt a factor for me. long story short accutane cleared my skin up but in the journey i noticed which foods were the underlying cause of my acne. i think if people are better educated with nutrition than skin as a whole would be better. i still feel i needed acutane to take me to a different level but cutting out white sugar, super/pot noodles, sweets ect really helped stop my acne going forward. The accutane has worked for you but please watch this space this time next year for when your diet may cause a return, try highlight the foods you know cause you to break out. hats off again for your channel growth mate :D
Makes me feel so much more comforted knowing that a lad my age has been struggling with this as well. Your acne is extremely similar to mine and as people who love self improvement, the gym and improving our physical appearance as much as possible, I related a lot when you talked about the lows that come with something that you can't control. Another great video mate, keep up the good work and thank you for being so open and honest, this has helped a lot of us more than you know. 👍
As someone who recently became acne free I feel so much more connected to you knowing that you also went through this, my acne started getting really bad I wanna say a year and half ago in 10th grade and it completely destroyed my ability to hold long conversations because I would realize as I was talking to someone they could see my acne and I'd then try to look away hide it etc. I still struggle with looking at my closest friends in the face because I still have an instinct to try to hide my acne. I loved talking to people and there were so many people I wanted to talk to and become friends with in school but I couldn't because of my lack of self-confidence and the whole time it wasn't getting better because I had a pretty horrible skincare routine that was probably hurting rather than helping me. I'd created an obsession with cleanliness and diet and anything that could make my acne worse, I'd look up if a certain ingredient had an impact on acne and just stop eating it even if it might not have been true I.e i stopped/limited eating: white rice, "enriched" breads (common in America), dairy (only one that had impact) items with lots of sodium, sugar etc. I also had changed up so many small lifestyle things that I can't keep track of, I was and still am paranoid of things touching my face (touching my face had a HUGE impact on my skin so stop doing it if you have acne) Starting a few months ago my skin showed slight improvement since I optimized my skincare routine, stopped using a cleanser in the morning and (for some reason I didn't do this before) I'd put a moisturizer on after the cleanser to help maintain the skin barrier. but since It wasn't improving fast enough I was prescribed doxycycline pills and a benzoyl peroxide gel, both to reduce oil and acne on my face and skin in genera, this showed HUGE improvement in only a couple days, and now after a month I can say I'm acne free besides a lot of scars on my forehead. I've always had longer-ish hair and than normal for a guy and I'd use that to my advantage for hiding my acne back when I had it, but consequently as a result I'd constantly worry about how it looked because it was the only thing I really felt in control of (My hair wasn't even that good, plus it would indirectly make my skin worse from oils getting on my face). Now that my acne is officially gone I got a nice haircut and I don't have it halfway hanging over my face to conceal anything and it looks better than it did before. I am more extroverted ever and I feel like my normal self again after 2 years, and now I take pictures of myself regularly , I think I've taken more photos of my self the past 3 weeks than I did the whole time having acne and.
yeah i hate acne bro i always had it bad once a year i break out and get 1-2 pimples that last for like 3-4 days shits awful i dont wish this anyone but terrorists
i completely relate with you on the conversations aspect. its super crushing when you're trying to talk to people and they're eyes won't stop darting around your face. i'm probably at my lowest right now and hoping it gets better.
I did the exact same journey as you. Only thing is I had it on my back and chest too. One hell of a ride. Felt like I was the only one in school who was in this situation. Dry skin, lips and the bleeding noses seem very familiar. Kept pushing, didn’t give up and beat the acne. I would recommend Accutane for anyone who is prepared to battle your acne with up’s and downs. Loved the video mate, cheers.
man I've got it so bad on my back and pretty bad on my face too the dermatologist said it's definitely bad enough to be prescribed the drug but after hearing about the side effects of depression I said no way but I'm really reconsidering it after watching this
@@tipufitzherbert1088 I was lucky enough to never experience depressed thoughts because of the Accutane. I can’t tell you if you will or not. The only thing I can tell you is that even though things only seem to get worse, they will eventually get better. Good luck mate.
@@tipufitzherbert1088my depression with acne is so bad im at the point that i would cut off a limb to get rid of it so the side effects are worth it for me
Hey mate ,I’ve been on the same prescription and have had it the same with my back and chest ,I’ve been on it for 2/3 months and it’s defiantly gotten worse in the second month ,was this the same for you ?and when did you see your acne clear ,thanks !
Don't take Accutane buddy, its not worth it! The more severe side effects can take 6 months or even years to show. Change your diet/lifestyle. Don't take the risk based on its okay because it worked for joe with no severe effects that doesn't mean it will be the same for you. Do the harder thing than popping that pill and change your diet, you will thank yourself! doctors or dermatologists will never ask you what your diet looks like, they just prescribe prescription drugs on a daily basis, may even say diet doesn't work for acne, try diet before considering Accutane. Even whey protein maybe a trigger for some people.
@JoseMiguel-fl5oiI did this + tons of other things when I had acne. Nothing helped. Sometimes it’s just so bad that only accutane can save it. It seriously is like a miracle, my skin got 100% clear after that shit
My acne has recently gotten to the worst its ever been to the point where im always so self conscious about how i look in public but this video has helped to remind me that it is a long process and things will eventually get better, class vid
Hey Joe, It's so weird seeing someone I admire go through the same exact thing. I Finished Accutane 3 weeks ago, and now I'm acne free. A year ago, I didn't want to go out in public, and yes, even working out didn't cure the depression. Thx for the vid man
I've had acne for years and while it's pretty much gone now except for a pimple here and there (thanks to accutane) I still have acne scars that are much harder to deal with (as they likely won't go away on their own without expensive laser treatment). To anyone with acne: don't expect your skin to be perfectly clear once you've gotten rid of the acne, you may have to deal with scars afterwards.
@@cake557 I went to a dermatologist and because my acne was already scarring they got me on it immediately. If you have a good dermatologist they should be able to determine whether or not it's necessary in your case.
I am halfway through my teens, and the worst possible case is when acne and pimples just start to come out even when ive been eating healthy and using skincare, like damn what the hell happened? But it'll get better, its just one of the stages that being a teen has to go through, so stay positive and take care of your face
I’m 2 weeks in to my accutane treatment. 5.5 more months to go. I’m so excited to finally have clear skin after having acne for years. It really does damage your self-confidence and I appreciate you making this video to show that others are going through the same struggle. Keep up the great work!
Good luck with accutane! It was the best decision ever in my life to seek help and hop on it for about 6-8 months. Side effects can be horrible, but the benefits for sure outweigh the side effects.
Good luck man! I was only able to see any results after 2 months, and the last month (6th) was really tough... super dry skin, lips, inside of nose... Luckily I didn't have any mental health side effects during my journey, just skin related problems. I hope you get it! It was the best decision of my life in the last 2 years
Much love and respect to anyone going through the mental testing of Accutane. I tried to take it, but it was just too hard. I hope and pray that everyone who is battling acne at the moment finds the results they are looking for!
@@VossieVosterits so hard because as you can see in the video the first weeks are the hardest, youre skin gets even worse than before and after that it starts going away. As someone who struggled with cystic acne in high school, i can give you my honest advice. Many western dermotologist do not have the best knowledge when it comes to acne. Mine was always telling me that my acne was caused by hornones and lifestyle choices had bo impact, but i promise you this is not always the case. Hormones can definitely have an impact, but normal, healthy human development through puberty should not cause severe acne. Many times, acne is caused and worsened by inflammation. I later found out this was my case. I took accutane in high school because i didn't know any better and was desperate to be confident again, but when I got into college, i learned how big of an impact inflammation had on my acne. I minimized negative inflammation in my body by making sure to drink plenty of water, get great sleep, strength train regularly, and eat a clean diet. What had the biggest negative effect for me and my acne was gluten and seed oils. I removed all gluten and seed oils from my diet and i no longer get acne. This requires a lifestyle change, but i promise it is worth it to stop acne. Dairy can be an inflammatory driver for some, but i do not have an issue with dairy. I wish i knew this in high school so I didn't have to take accutane, but better now than never. I'm not a doctor, but i do have a degree in Health Science if that means anything to anyone. Thanks for the read.
This honestly hits hard. I struggled with acne for most of my teens and it made me miserable to the point that I would avoid looking in mirrors. I tried everything until I got on benzoyl peroxide and I am now at the point where I can stop taking it and I'm the happiest I've been with myself.
I barely look in the mirror and when I see my reflection on like my laptop im just like damn im fucking ugly. Wish I had acne because then I would still have a chance at being slightly good looking.
it really does work, not enough for me and once they go away they come back the next week in the exact same spot. ill probably start acutane but recommend benzoyl and salicylic acid
Respect for showing everyone the real deal. Congrats and everyone don’t forget that there are always millions of others going through the same thing as you so you are not alone❤
as someone who is currently on accutane, the beginning is tough but so worth it once you get past the purging stage. My skin has never looked clearer. thank you for making this video joe!!!
I only took accutane for 2 and a half months but got lucky asf that I had no real purge and now my skin is completely clear. just hoping it can stay that way
@@ItzEdward for me personally I don’t use face wash because it really dries my face out. What’s worked for me is using cerave for my moisturizer, and a shit ton of aquafor for my lips. Also I put sunscreen on my face everyday. Hope that helps!
just remember accutane can help, but it is way better to find out what caused it. No sugar and no dairy diet is a key and helps a lot for that. A good keto diet can also help. hope you get better soon! For me after I used Accutane, it came again and again. and only a really good and strict diet helped. I hope everything turns out good for you !
I had some trouble with acne when I was younger. One of the main reasons, ironically, was because of my mental health. Stress would shoot my cortisol levels through the roof and cause me to break out, which would make me more stressed, causing a vicious cycle. But once I started accepting my acne and managing my stress, my face started clearing up. From then on the cycle was the latter. As my face cleared up, I became more confident, which encouraged me to live a healthy lifestyle, stress and acne free. If you have acne and want to clear it up, before any kind of drug or medication, I would recommend managing stress and self acceptance first. Get good sleep, eat right, hydrate, and understand that you’re awesome and dont need to sweat the little things in life.
Ive had acne for a while and I'd suggest learning to ignore it. Not ignoring it and not taking care of it, but not letting it affect you. It's NOT easy and I still always think about it, just less, and it's felt better doing that than trying my hardest to fix it.
Started accutane 2 days ago. Had acne for 10 years (since I was 11), been on every other drug, even imported stuff you can't get off dermatologists in the UK. Nothing ever improved it. This is sweet timing lol. Its giving me hope that it will cure my acne and I will stop having to worry before interviews, nights out, family gatherings etc. that I won't completely break out in a face full of acne. Lets gooo. Ready for the purge
@@fryhyh Lol dude, come on man. Telling that to someone who has had acne for 10 years is insulting. I've tried 6 months spats of everything. I've had intolerance tests, months and months of drinking loads of water, I've been dairy-free for 6 months before, I always eat clean, I've had only fresh food for 6 months, changing pillowcases extremely regularly for 6 months, blah blah blah. I've done so many tests like that. Nothing changes
Being the one who just finished his accutane course a month ago I agree this drug was live saving for me. My cystic acne have disappeared although I still have a lot of scars left from the those cystic acne I had in the past but atleast there are no new acne coming out so I’m still happy. Glad to see it worked for you to Joe
Hello, I'm currently in my first week of taking Accutane. Would you say you experienced any problems with the meds in your journey? Just wanna know so I can prepare myself for what is to come
Thank you so much for this video Joe, I myself struggled with really bad acne last year and it absolutely killed my confidence. I remember having a huge breakdown once cuz I couldn’t take it anymore. I was afraid to go out in public and found myself falling into a state of depression as nothing I was doing was working. Finally I took accutane and finished about a month ago, it was definitely the best decision I’ve ever made and I’m happier than ever now. Would recommend but as Joe said proceed with caution because your acne WILL get worse before it gets better

Diet fixed my acne, I cut sugars out and my skin is glowing. You don’t have to take drugs, go see a dermatologist or get a blood test if your really concerned.
That’s all pseudoscience. Most people who resort to this drug have literally tried everything. Cutting out sugar and changing your pillowcase every couple of days won’t do sh*t for most people. A decade of battling acne just to have someone say “wash your face” is something I can’t take anymore, isotretinoin looking more appealing every day.
Everyone is different. Many people including myself were on a healthy diet and it made no difference. For some, accutane is the lesser of two evils as cystic acne is actually harmful for your skin in the long run! I only needed to go on a low dosage for less than 6 months and it cleared my skin. Ever since I only get an odd pimple which I can live with.
this is so relatable for me since i had very very (very) bad cystic acne, much worse than you, which everyone made fun of. After about 7 months of suffering, I decided to take the drug as well. In the first few months I could barely see any progress, I thought that I was never gonna get off this drug. After debating if I should just stop it since my side effects got worse by the week, I pushed myself to stay on it and well, after 1.5 years I can finally say that it cleared my skin (only leaving a couple scars). I've been off of it for 2 months now and all the side effects have faded. For anyone reading this, just know that whether you are debating to go on it or are already on it, you can make it if you stay patient and act according to your bodys needs
I started on accutane in september 2020 when I was 17, and took the pills those 5 months I was supposed to. My body really couldn’t handle that medicine… I still have all the sides effects and all the doctors tell me it’s chronic😕 I have used thousands of pounds trying to get just fairly healthy again, but nothing really worked. The medicine also just made my skin much worse, and now I really don’t know what to do with anything anymore… Stay healthy mates✨💙
i am just glad that i am not alone struggling with this. building up confidence and not getting intimidated by public helps with mental health regarding my acne, i am currently changing my lifestyle and diet. i really hope i will succeed
I was on Accutane and it cleared my acne completely. I only suffered dry lips and didn’t get any bad thoughts, it’s important to keep yourself positive and think of the finishing product.
Hello Joe I just wanted to say thank you so much. I had Depression for 1 Year and sometimes I wanted to end it all. At the start of May I saw your Video and it gave me the motivation to start working out. Thru my workout and your Video’s and problems I was able to lower my depression. Right now my life is good I am talking with a girl for the First time who could potentially become my girlfriend , I feel happy in my body and motivated to workout. So thank you so much for everything that you showed and taught me. Even if life is hard there is always light at the end of the tunnel.❤ Love you and your vids
*The storytelling- editing- lighting- & effort that went into this video is perfect.* Most people struggle with low confidence for 3 reasons: People judge them, insecurity about looks, comparison to other people. My best advice would be to BE the best version of YOURSELF- in all aspects, achieve your best, stay as fit as you can, build healthy relationships, most importantly *"be the best version of yourself to maximize success."*
Hey man, thanks for sharing your journey. I really resonated with the part when you showed images of you as a kid, compared to when your breakouts were at their worst. As a teen, I did not break out much and my skin was beautiful. Then, in 2022 when I was 19-20 years old, I started getting cystic acne, my confidence went downhill, and I reflected back on what my younger self looked like. Acne really messes with your head and as a viewer, I appreciate you sharing that vulnerability with us. I still struggle to this day with acne, I have no health insurance (I live in the U.S., you might as well die without health insurance here) so I cannot get a dermatologist. It has gotten better but it comes back when it wants to and I still have bad scarring. I am glad your skin is doing a lot better... you have given me the inspiration to keep trying to clear mine.
Mate I’m going though that august phase right now. Had it bad for about 2 years and never properly tried sorting it and though I’m not gonna get my hands on acutane it’s great to see you feeling better about your appearance. Genuinely one of my favourite TH-camrs!
I had the same experience, the doctor prescribed me Roacutane and it completely cleared my skin and I had side effects of dry lips and sometimes my nose started to bleed during exercise, but I'm glad it's over and my skin is clean, it's very good that you share your experiences and you help others because this is quite a sensitive and unpleasant topic. Good luck and keep up the good work💪
As someone who have been struggling with acne on and off for more than 10 years, congrats on your win with acne. Know that they could come back, I was on medication too many years ago and the acne went away. But after a few years they came back and I had pretty bad side effects the last time I took accutant. Horrible weight gain and hair loss, a lot. Personally if I knew what I know now, I wouldn’t have gone on accutane. I’d look deeper into my diet and skin care as I do now. Cutting diary and sugar has been helping me a lot, yeah which mean u can’t do Whey protein. Anyway just putting this out there in case someone who’s thinking about accutane and its side effects can hear about another example of what have happened and what alternatives way to deal with acne.
Joe this is so encouraging, and thank you for sharing your journey!! You are such a handsome young man and so great at sharing your story in a joyful vibrant way ❤️
The link between accutane and depression has been disproven. Accutane is a serious decision, as it is an intense medication and it is important for you to do research and decide for yourself if it’s something worth taking. I have taken two cycles of it with a total of 10 months on the medication and have experienced no depressive or emotional side effects. The only side effects I have experienced were dry lips and skin. Stay safe everyone!
When I was in secondary school, I had terrible acne, not just on my face but also my back. It got to the stage where if somebody touched my upper back I would be in agony as the spots was so painful and looked disgusting. My face wasn’t as severely affected, but certainly still enough for me to not have any confidence. I started taking this drug and it is a genuine lifesaver. I was told about the side-effects that it can have. To be honest, I didn’t care about any of the warnings, as long as my acne went away. That’s all I care about. I’m very grateful that this drug exists and I’m happy that it has worked for you to.
Personally I don’t want to go on accutane. I have considered it but my skin is no where near bad enough, I find just not eating sugar for 3 days and using cerave hydrating cleanser I can already see a difference. Joe you’ve helped a lot as well man put some respect on this man’s name please 💪

Don't hate yourself. There are 8 billion people in the world and every single one of them is different.Dont put yourself down if you are different.Learn to love yourself and the way you are, dont listen to other people's opinion
I knew a year or two ago that you felt horrible, even though you never spoke about it. People who have struggled with severe acne can tell how the opposite person feels even without him telling how we feels
Don't usually comment on videos, but this really hit home. My skin throughout my life has also been on and off but really nothing too bad. Started my first year of uni and everything just went down hill. It shot my confidence like nothing else, and as of today its the worst its been. But after watching this I've got hope and i'm just going to bite the bullet and muscle through this. Massive massive shout out to you Joe !
I am also going to start my first year of uni after a couple of days. I still have a lot of acne and it certainly is pushing my confidence to the bottom level but will not give up. Lets see what the future brings for us.
for anyone who struggles with acne!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEE DO NOT TAKE ACCUTANE, let me just tell you this before you ever consider accutane... Think of acne as an infection in the gut (mainly the liver), infact your skin is essentially a representation of your liver's health. please try to fix your acne naturally, I have struggled with acne for 10 years, going to dermatologists who just prescribed medication, or topical retinols. It wasn't until a year ago I came across the realization that you need to change your lifestyle in order to get rid of acne... this means getting on a diet, NO sugar, low carbs, no dairy, and nothing that you may even be a little bit allergic too or sensitive too. You don't want to digest anything that will cause inflammation, get rid of processed foods, grains, wheat, bread, switch to high-quality meat, eggs, salads, cruciferous vegetables, berries, nuts, etc. Eating healthy is the 1st step, also taking supplements, I take zinc, quercetin, vitamin D3, vitamin A, vitamin B-complex, omega-3 fatty acids, prebiotics, probiotics, L-Lysine.. All of these are natural, and will not only improve your skin, but will improve your cognitive function, your bones, muscles, mood, everything!!! The other half of getting rid of acne is the external part, cleanse your face once a day with salicylic acid, I recommend CeraVe for facial cleansers and moisturizers, I also use Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide serums. IF you have body acne, take ice baths to decrease inflammation, or cold showers. use ice cubes on the face to decrease inflammation. Some remedies that I ALWAYS do are Apple Cider Vinegar, 1-2 tablespoons mixed with water every day, along with 2 cups of tea (spearmint, milk thistle, licorice root, and green tea are the best for decreasing inflammation, with Green tea being the best because it directly effects the sebaceous gland). Acne is a journey, heal your body, treat it like a temple, and youll see results. I recommend Dr. Eric Berg if you want the science and reasoning behind a lot of this, he is what I consider a true doctor, a natural path, please if you want to get rid of your acne, consider watching some of his videos. AND STAY COMMITTED! You can do it!

my liver's fine. my pores got clogged because i have oily skin, that's why my siblings had it too, and despite them doing all sorts of tiktok methods, im the only one with clear skin, because im the only one who took accutane. i don't rely on pseudoscience. after trying all stages of acne medication and holistics, accutane was the only thing that worked. not diet. and you know what? at 60mg a day... it was easy. literally just some dry lips. im not a doctor but it helped me a lot (and didnt give me depression and stuff): let some water boil (1L) pour it in a bowl get a towel around ur head and the bowl and inhale for 10min so ye hot steam kinda helps and if the hot air hurts too much just use a snorkel
I have acne since I‘m 15. When I was around 16-17 it got so bad that my whole face was covered in red massive vulcanos. Luckily you had to wear masks to school which helped me a lot at the time. Today I‘m 19 and it has got much better but I still have lots of pimples especially in the chin/neck area. I often have days where I‘m a little insecure about it but I‘m trying my best. Just remember you won‘t always look like this
It is an important time of your life and it would be awesome for you and your body to start a really healthy and strict diet like no processed sugar and dairy. It is almost always cause by hormones and those two things can fck you up real good. My body is still healing from it and I'm 30 now but way more healthier! I wish you the best.
@@Manginiiit’s probably hard to do something like not consume sugar/dairy as a minor because you don’t buy your own food or cook for yourself most of the time
@@lorcha1237 absolutely! I recommend something like intermittent fasting. you eat one or twice a day, but you cook your meals by yourself. don't buy stuff that helps the economy. buy stuff that helps your body. it is all about discipline and it is also really really hard to go away from a diet that is full of sugar. it works like a drug
I can somewhat relate to this. I've had acne since I was 13 and it just keeps getting better and worse but never clears with any other medication. I am currently 2 months into accutane, my acne has gotten a bit worse but I know that's part of the process and that it will all be worth it in the end. Thankfully, I've not had any depression thoughts or anything like that, just dry lips but I sort that with lots of vaseline
I've taken accutane twice in my life, each period lasted about a year. While its results are great, keep in mind that these not necessarily permanent (this is different for everyone) and it may come back after a while. Taking a lower dose is what I did the last time upon recommendation from my dermatologist, essentially taking only one pill every two days, and for people with mild acne that are prone to scarring, this can already do the trick while minimizing side effects.
What a story man! Thank you for always being open and honest with us!! There’s always struggles in life, especially to do with confidence, but for me I have been able to put my confidence in Jesus, as he is never changing!!! Unlike appearance, skin, society, people’s views etc which are always changing and unreliable! Just wanted to let you know Jesus loves you mate! Have seen him change my life, and now I have this unchanging confidence and joy because I put my trust in him and have a relationship with him!!
It feels completely hopeless when purging because what your taking to get rid of acne is causing it. Its a total mindfuck. Accutane cleared me up, and now tretinoin is causing me to purge. I really hope I can see the light at the end of the tunnel as you have. It’s so debilitating and is messing my mental state up
You're lucky, man. I made the same mistake as you and took Accutane for 2 months as well, but it gave me horrendous permanent disabling health problems that I still struggle with to this day. I'm happy you're doing well!
Exact same situation here Joe, my skin was perfect for 20 years hardly ever even a spot but about 4 months ago i started experiencing acne and now have a fair bit over my face. It has ledt me feeling anxious and extremely sad, i am on benzyl peroxide and hope this will help me in the near future thanks for the video Joe really appreciate it
I don't think I've ever related to a video so much. It was the same for me, except I had severe acne. I tried salycilic acid, benzoyl peroxide, antibiotics, nothing worked. So I got on accutane. I already wasn't doing to great in life but it took me so low, you would've given me a g_u-n last winter and I would probably have sh0t myself. Being depressed is already bad enough, but it also affects how you interact with people. I got really insecure about pretty much everything in life, which in turn made some friends leave, and my girl and I got much more distant, which in turn made me even more depressed. On the upside, my skin is clear now after 5 years of having acne, and now that I've experienced what I'd call rock bottom I'm happier than I've been in years. But now that I've stopped it, I'm starting to lose my hair, but it's supposed to be temporary so we'll see how this goes (don't wanna be bald at 17 lmao). For people struggling with acne my advice would be to check your diet: dermatologists for some reason don't really talk about how important of a factor it is (probably to sell you products and keep you coming back to their office): the skin is an organ, and it reflects the gut's and liver's health. If your diet is full of dairy (in my case I drank close to a liter of milk a day) and refined carbs (added sugars, white bread, white pasta etc.), that you don't drink enough water and don't get enough vitamins, that's very probably the cause. Anyways, thanks for your video Joe!
For people who dont want to take accutane: Before applying your anti-acne facemasks you have to steam your face to open up the pores and clean them. Here is a guide; 1. Fill a pot with water 2. Put the water filled pot on the stove and turn it on 3. Wait until the water boils and turn it off (keep the lid on) 4. Add tree oils to the boiling hot water and quickly put the lid back on 5. Bring the pot to a comfortable place where you can sit and bring with yourself a large towel 6. Take the lid off, wait a few seconds so your eyes and nose wont get blasted with the built up steam 7. Put the towel over your head and keep your face right above the pot Keep your face above the pot for around 10 minutes before taking the towel off your head and then apply your face masks quickly! Do this only twice a week to avoid skin irritation from too much steaming. I do it at Tuesdays and Fridays.
As someone who took accutane about 4 times, let me tell you, it's definitely worth it. As some said people who don't have acne will never understand the self-doubt, -hatred and mental issues that come with acne. And if your skin's already bad the initial purge often times won't even be noticeable (in my case at least). Yes, I probably wouldn't recommend it to people that are prone for depression and mental health issues. But regarding other side effects you can prevent or reduce their damaging risks by taking precautions, like moisturizing your skin/lips, using eyedrops, drinking a lot of what, don't mix alcohol (I actually did couple of times and my organs were still fine) and maybe go a little easier on the heavy lifts (cause the joint pain really is a thing). For me it was worth the risks and just after the first time my face acne was basically cured and never really came back. For my back acne it sadly is trickier, but I'm optimistic it will be cured in the near feature. All the best on your journey!
Middle school with acne is absolutely hell. I’m going into 7th grade at a new school and I already know this year will be shit. I’m always the only person in my friend group or entire grade with acne and it really affected me at points. People would comment on it and one dumbass kid asked if I had eczema which makes no sense and completely destroyed my confidence. Of course, as a 12 year old, there’s no way in hell I’m going on that drug so wish me luck.
well shi i had acne since i was 11, im now 13 and i started taking pills (A-CNOTREN) before 2-3 months ago. My skin is so bad now, i dont have confidence to go talk to any girl cause i fear that im gonna get clowned on, so thats fun, but we gotta trust the proccess ig.
my dermatologist told me that its not the isotretinoin that causes the depressions, its more likely the suffering due to the acne itself. Its just a regulation thing that you have to mention every possible side effects. Causality and correlation ist the keyword. I had the worst acne you could imagine, especially on my back and I just regret, not using it earlier.
Stumbled across this video. I'm where you were in the beginning but much worse because of my age. You see, I had acne like yours almost all my life. No topicals helped, like everyone I tried EVERYTHING! I was so embarrassed as an adult going into meetings or outings and people just look at you and then some even comment "you going through puberty again?", "What is WRONG with your face, man!?" and on and on. I had the "bad thoughts" many times. At 42 I finally found a dermatologist who would give me Accutane. I think I purged a little, I can't recall (this was 2010). 6 months on it and it worked like a charm! I had bad side effects of joint pain and I didn't know you couldn't work out and I had been going to the gym because I was feeling better about myself after 30 years! I hurt my back and my ligaments/tendons were kinda bad. Anyway...for the most part, it cleared up my face, had it on my neck, back, chest also and it all cleared up. I stayed clear until....March 2024. I had a heel injury and the Dr. gave me some corticosteroids and a shot. They gave it to me 3x over 6 months and I don't know how or why but I began breaking out. Little at first then worse and worse and WORSE! At work, everyone is looking at me and now at 55 years old I'm dealing with this SHIT all over again. I have been so utterly depressed I decided to end it all. Can you imagine being like you were and feeling like you were for 40 years? I didn't think you could do Accutane more than once but I found an online website that would prescribe it but this time I'm going "low dose" and it will be for about 16 months. A lot longer but at my age and what happened before, i thought this would be better route. I've taken 4 pills (1 every 3 days) and I'm starting to purge as it is getting even worse. Today at work, I had a panic attack having to go in with my face and neck looking so bad. I started looking at videos of testimonials to give me the strength to do this. Being on it before, I know what to expect and what the results will be but I just don't understand why those steroids started all this again. I think my hormones are screwed up and I'm starting andropause. Anyway, you look great, I'm very happy for you and I hope I can make it through. I can't do this ever again after this, I can tell you that. My mental health is so fragile right now I had to take a week off work next week hoping to be further through purging and I'm thinking of quitting my job and staying in for several months if I an afford it.
I've always had pretty bad acne for many years now but I feel very blessed to simply not care. It's never affected my confidence and most of the time I forget I even have it when talking to people. Only when I go to the bathroom and see myself in the mirror do I remember that I have acne and even then the thought leaves as soon as I leave the bathroom. I really feel for people who are self conscious about this.
A healthy clean diet is the best for better skin and body, eat fruits, vegetables and clean water, no industrial food and no side effects, contact with nature for avoiding streess and polution that can contributs to acne too.
@JoseMiguel-fl5oiI don’t think he said it applies to him. There’s no perfect solution that works for every single person. Some people might be fine via the natural route but others may feel better taking medicine. At the end of the day you need to try different things to find what works for you.
100% my acne started to go fucking crazy after undergoing crazy stress at work alongside with some hair loss with no change in my nutrition. You won’t understand how important stress management is until it’s too late.
@@raztox3050 yes, and if you do not give the nutrients for your body produce the hormones correcty, it is worst, my mom died because of not a balanced diet and she struggled a lot with acnes in her younghood, she was bullied because of her skin and she had depression, it costed her self love when she started to get fater taking medicines to cure her health problems.

I used to have Acne really bad when I was 14-16, literally every square inch of my face, back and chest was covered in clusters of them. I stopped talking to my friends at school and always kept my head down when I had ro talk to people. Id hide in the toilets at lunch times and go home and shut myself off in room as soon as I got home. Being a dumb teenager, I used to pick them, wash them, burn them with hot light, scrub the life out of them, anything to get them to go away, but it was more like self abuse. Everyone used to look at me like I was a freak and my family would tease about them, forced me to go to the doctor, but I hated myself so much and people so much by this point, I refused the doctors help and told him I didnt want the medication. Id never felt so alone in my life, and felt like my self esteem was completely destroyed, this went on for months. Just from acne... not a relative dying, not getting diagnosed with cancer, not something I saw as serious or significant, just from spots... After a very bad day at school one day, I decided I needed the doctors help if I was ever going to get better. I cant remember what the medication was, but it was strong, and probably very similar to the one you took. My skin amd lips dried up to the point where my skin was peeling in flakes and leaving nasty red scars all over my face, neck, chest and back and had to suffer like you with depression frequently. The ance cleared, but 15 years on, I still have acne scars all over my body. But im gratefully im just judged for having scars and looking like freddy krugar, rather than being perceived as a dirty, spotty, lanky, miserable teenager. My confidence has never fully restored, but I now have a wife of 10 years and 2 children to be thankful for. If I can give any advice to anyone suffering with depression whether it be you feel like your ugly, too small, too fat, too stupid, rejected or different in any way... Just remember, you don't need to change who you are for anyone, you have as much right to be on this planet as anyone else, and if people cant accept you as you are, I accept you for who you are... ❤
I'm starting to clear up. My tips is to 1. Find out what skin type you have so you can find the right skincare 2. Start eating nutrients. 3. Drink loads of water 4. Try to stop stressing. 5. Don't clean your face more than once a day, under any circumstances
I read it wrong as “stop eating nutrients” and was about to type a rant about how important it is to get vitamins A, B3, C, D, E, zinc and selenium to reduce acne lmao
People who don't have acne will never understand the self-doubt and mental problems it can cause.

How do you get it in the uk ?
You have to get it prescribed by a doctor (particularly a dermatologist), who will assess whether it is right for you.

I also had changed up so many small lifestyle things that I can't keep track of, I was and still am paranoid of things touching my face (touching my face had a HUGE impact on my skin so stop doing it if you have acne)
Starting a few months ago my skin showed slight improvement since I optimized my skincare routine, stopped using a cleanser in the morning and (for some reason I didn't do this before) I'd put a moisturizer on after the cleanser to help maintain the skin barrier. but since It wasn't improving fast enough I was prescribed doxycycline pills and a benzoyl peroxide gel, both to reduce oil and acne on my face and skin in genera, this showed HUGE improvement in only a couple days, and now after a month I can say I'm acne free besides a lot of scars on my forehead.

Much love and respect to anyone going through the mental testing of Accutane. I tried to take it, but it was just too hard. I hope and pray that everyone who is battling acne at the moment finds the results they are looking for!
Hello, I'm currently in my first week of taking Accutane. Why was it too hard for you may I ask?
@@VossieVosterits so hard because as you can see in the video the first weeks are the hardest, youre skin gets even worse than before and after that it starts going away. The only thing thats not going away during that Journey is the dry skin, dry lips, nose bleedings,
(And hopefully not youre mental health that gets worse). Its just a hard Journey but you will probably feel it soon enough bcs youre only in youre first week. I wish you the best of luck brother and keep going bcs it will be one of youre best decicions you have ever made!❤❤

I tried everything until I got on benzoyl peroxide and I am now at the point where I can stop taking it and I'm the happiest I've been with myself.
yeah benzoyl peroxide is great
I barely look in the mirror and when I see my reflection on like my laptop im just like damn im fucking ugly.
I only took accutane for 2 and a half months but got lucky asf that I had no real purge and now my skin is completely clear. just hoping it can stay that way
Do you still use skincare like washing face, use moisturizer etc. Or just taking the pills?
@@ItzEdward at least for me when I was taking accutane I was told to not use anything except moisturizer.
Get good sleep, eat right, hydrate, and understand that you’re awesome and dont need to sweat the little things in life.
exactly the same here. i can fully relate. thx for commenting
It helped me big time! Did it for 7months and it cleansed everything 👌 just get through it
Just finished it recently, same situation, i had tried everything and accutane is the only thing that worked. You just got to trust the process.
Since you’re on a gym channel, I’m assuming you eat clean. But if you don’t, drink a lot of water (5l a day), eat clean and stop drinking soda
It will, trust me
Being the one who just finished his accutane course a month ago I agree this drug was live saving for me.

Agreed, i back you Joe but this vid not sure if its a good representation
Diet, and no chemical products on skin is the solution G’s
They made fun of your acne? That’s horrible. Bro, you’re hanging around the wrong people.. get new friends
The medicine also just made my skin much worse, and now I really don’t know what to do with anything anymore…

I just wanted to say thank you so much. I had Depression for 1 Year and sometimes I wanted to end it all. At the start of May I saw your Video and it gave me the motivation to start working out. Right now my life is good I am talking with a girl for the First time who could potentially become my girlfriend , I feel happy in my body and motivated to workout. So thank you so much for everything that you showed and taught me. Even if life is hard there is always light at the end of the tunnel.❤ Love you and your vids

Good luck and keep up the good work💪

I m happy for how far has Joe came from!! Keep making bangers and inspiring all of us:)
Congratz dude, you achieved your goal stay strong. As a man its a important to be psychically and mentally strong *no pain no gain* 💪
Joe you’ve helped a lot as well man put some respect on this man’s name please 💪

for anyone who struggles with acne!!!!
Man, I’m currently on accutane and I’ve fixed my diet with it, and I haven’t sufffered from any of its side effects, except for dry lips and dry skin, and now my only problem is scars

As a person who is taking right now this gives me so much hope for the future and for my confidence

I'm suffering post Accutane too really bad
As someone who has acne all over my face, back and chest, you've done well bro, as the wise words of nick eh 30, never back down, never give up
Exact same situation here Joe, my skin was perfect for 20 years hardly ever even a spot but about 4 months ago i started experiencing acne and now have a fair bit over my face.

This dude definitely knows how to tell a good story..... everything is soo on point 👏👏👏
For people who dont want to take accutane:
Before applying your anti-acne facemasks you have to steam your face to open up the pores and clean them.
Here is a guide;
1. Fill a pot with water
2. Put the water filled pot on the stove and turn it on
3. Wait until the water boils and turn it off (keep the lid on)
4. Add tree oils to the boiling hot water and quickly put the lid back on
5. Bring the pot to a comfortable place where you can sit and bring with yourself a large towel
6. Take the lid off, wait a few seconds so your eyes and nose wont get blasted with the built up steam
7. Put the towel over your head and keep your face right above the pot
Keep your face above the pot for around 10 minutes before taking the towel off your head and then apply your face masks quickly!

Bro, I don’t feel like myself when I have a single zit on my face. I couldn’t imaging going through a full-on acne phase. Prayers to you guys
bro turned majestic
my dermatologist told me that its not the isotretinoin that causes the depressions, its more likely the suffering due to the acne itself. Its just a regulation thing that you have to mention every possible side effects. Causality and correlation ist the keyword. I had the worst acne you could imagine, especially on my back and I just regret, not using it earlier.
Keto, no sugar, very little dairy, moderate sunlight, meditation, positivity, steak, eggs, and fish.
I've got absolutely no chance then 😂
And what about healthy people who do all those things yet still get acne?
Im 13 and i have it already 2,5 years its rlly painful and frustrating
Sugar from junk food and Coca-Cola/Fanta caused my acne. Stop eating sugar guys
Dang that's long
But u right
I feel devastated for you man. Acne is a real curse but just know there is people your age struggling with it too. Wish you all the best man
I've always had pretty bad acne for many years now but I feel very blessed to simply not care. It's never affected my confidence and most of the time I forget I even have it when talking to people. Only when I go to the bathroom and see myself in the mirror do I remember that I have acne and even then the thought leaves as soon as I leave the bathroom. I really feel for people who are self conscious about this.
I can’t get it off just my forehead
A healthy clean diet is the best for better skin and body, eat fruits, vegetables and clean water, no industrial food and no side effects, contact with nature for avoiding streess and polution that can contributs to acne too.
Disagree, some people can have the best diet ever and will still get horrible breakouts
@JoseMiguel-fl5oithat is very true, even nuts we should take care for do not eat much of it, because as the milk, it can cause skin or health problems
If you are reading this somehow don't lose hope my friends
Happy for you!!!
