Once you've cleared this quest, it's time to go to the guild hall. Here's the low rank guild quest overview, if you haven't seen it yet: th-cam.com/video/0TyHvPgjC5U/w-d-xo.html I recommend everyone stay in the village quests first, and then go to the guild hall, it's more efficient that way, but you can do whatever. Also, it's taken me a while, but I've finally covered Ash Lao-Shan Lung, it'll be linked in that low rank guild quest video. The general course I'd recommend is clearing the low rank village quests and then getting into high rank in the guild to unlock the gathering quests. The hardest high rank quest at that point I'd imagine is Ash Lao, the urgent quest to get into HR 5 and unlock the rest of the gathering quests.
Akantor is the main reason for me to play this game, as if he's the final frontier I have to face after coming this far. And the fact that you're telling a story about silly gaming stuff with the boys & you making music is such a wholesome "shounen manga finale" moment for me. Huge props to you, man. After watching your guide, I gotta say I finally beat Akantor. Armed with my HR Rathalos Gear and Narga LS I finally took the big guy down. It felt refreshing, honestly this is one of the only fights I've encountered so far that kept me on the edge of my seat, really gave me a run around. When I beat this guy and the credits rolled shortly after, I felt a great sense of accomplishment rush over me. This whole game felt like an Odyssey. That too this fight was a pretty good send off for me. Terrible map layout but great fight nonetheless and you helped me accomplish all of that with your guides. Thank you headhunter, now I'm off to the gathering hall to help other fellow hunters. (But before I do so I'll farm Akantor for his gear because it looks kickass)

Akantor is still hard in GU, where you have a lot of options for mobility and weapon variety. So I can only imagine how hard he is here. Also, that’s what Sonic bombs are for! Ive always why they gave you some in the supplies.
I just wanted to give you a shout out. I finished monster hunter freedom unite today in preparation for rise. all of G rank solo and all 3 fatalis for the first time. when I started I happened across your plesioth video and as I beat monsters I would then watch your video on that monster to see if there were mechanics I missed or just to chill out. it felt good to seemingly co-op playthrough the game(even though your videos were much older than when I started) and even though I have outpaced you I am excited to see when you get to g rank and beyond(if you are going for it) 178 hours of my time well spent on a game with blatantly terrible and intentionally padded and frustrating design that somehow despite its many many flaws remained fun to the end. thanks for the entertainment and the feeling of playing through an ancient game at the same time as someone else. maybe ill see you in rise.

I'm writing this just to flex that today I managed to take down my first HR/G Akantor, took me three tries :) (two of them I would just reset the game after a faint, out of sheer feeling of challenge, you really hyped that one up LOL). I used Wyvern Blade 'Maple' and I didn't use any bombs, I just dived through his charges with around 90% success rate (I consider myself pretty good at positioning, no boasting or anything :D) Keep making content whenever you feel like, and cheers, best of everything to you mate :)

I remember the first day I was playing MHGen, dunno what fight it was but I was with a friend and I was just like "nope. nope. nope. that didn't happen." and I closed the game on my 3ds and re-opened it 😂😂😂 Nice! whoa, i still can't figure out how way back when in 2012 I and 3 cousins managed to beat akantor, all we did was bring hammers and the max amount of flash bombs and someone would take a turn constantly flashing the akantor while the other 3 went to town with the hammers. overall good guide homie.
lol yeah, when I fought him once before online it was me and another LS user, we failed a bunch but eventually got it, basically flash bomb spamming as much as we could haha thanks for watching.

You know what? Some Akantor materials are pretty useless if you don't destroy those breakables in time. So the raw materials from Akantor that hasn't been broken are just given to the Guild because nobody can ever crack its enormous shell.
-It's weird but Akantor's stagger sound is weirdly satisfying in a way it's like "YES i got him!" - 10:43 "vore_irl" what - Call me dumb, but when i fought him i went the extremely reckless way of fighting, i just went for the chest and stayed under him for most of the fight. - Wait, you made the song at 7:03? That's pretty cool, lad. - Oh and, final note, in all of technicallity, Akantor is the final boss, and G-Rank and beyond are just the post-game, so i guess one could say MHFU is done, not complete, but done.
Tigrex is the first final boss, the stuff after that feels extra up until high rank, but you do get a nice cutscene and credit roll after Akantor. After that I guess there's Ukanlos or *i guess* fatalis yeah I've made a bunch of music, haven't really felt like making anything for a while, but I have links to more in my discord. just felt like making a little thing for the video, wish it was better tbh but yeah, i figured me not liking it doesn't mean others wont either.
Akantor is a beast, I can’t think of other monsters that can no-sell Gravios laser beam like that. I feel that he can beat Nergigante or Deviljho if ever they fight.

IDK why but my favorite sound in FU is the sound Aka makes when you trip or interrupt/stagger him. Also watching this video has made me realize how much harder this fight is without a shield as so many moves that are simple and quick to block take so much time and effort to avoid without one. My experience and opinion on Aka and Uka would've been very different if I had chosen a different weapon to use instead of the lance.
I liked your song. I'm not really planning to play FU, but your guides are really soothing to put on while I knit and a lot of the general advice (like.... don't stand in front of the monster, dumbass) has been really helpful for me to try applying in GU and 4U, both of which I'm playing for the first time between Sunbreak title updates.

Not sure the reasoning behind not being able to capture some creatures, I guess it's probably just "Elder Dragons are too dangerous to try capturing." Like, I can imagine it being very difficult to keep something like Kushala, Kirin, Teostra, and of course Akantor (way too big) contained if it woke up. It'd probably destroy everything around it and get out, meanwhile something more normal like a Rathalos or Khezu etc is mostly fine as long as you keep your distance and make sure the cage is strong enough. I don't usually zoom the map, I try to keep it not shown, but it is recommended to have your map zoomed in for this fight... so... Plesioth is not the same kind of wyvern... Plesioth are Piscine Wyverns, Akantor is a Flying Wyvern (evolutionarily speaking) I don't upgrade my armor for these videos, along with a handful of other things that I could do. I want players to fill in the gaps and do things their own way. I recommend bringing a cat (if you can), upgrading your armor, etc. I give a sort of minimalist set up designed to be added onto. Mega juice is fine. Power juice is much much more practical and a hell of a lot easier and faster to get. These videos are meant to alleviate frustration and grinding, feel free to do things in different ways, I encourage that. I'm emphasizing using your map because it's extremely helpful to see where you are and what room you have to move, if you don't want to use the map feature, something that literally every single person has access to in this game........ feel free. I've heard of geometry dash, not too interested in it. The moment when one defeats Akantor is full of joy and satisfaction, such a good fight indeed, then you realize you already killed the 5th one trying to get his armor in order to not get your ass wiped in G-Rank. Good times.

7:19 as a 9-10 year when i first got to him with a devil slicer ( pale khezu steak just didnt feel like dropping ) slashing away at his arms and sometimes the head using up 49 min I feel that statement
yooo finally its here. This is my favorite fight so far, he's not so challenging but if your not careful he can easily kill you in a few hits. I'm not sure but I think the lava spurts have a set pattern also the 8th and 9th is always to right of where he is. The best attacks to punish is fake charge, tail swipes and when he burrows.
@@WaxWing_ If you completed the Lvl 3 Greatsword charge, the area of effect will become tenderized. I took advantage of Akantor's slow movement by predicting where his head will be. I only hit the head because the Greatsword cannot combo or else I get knocked around.
I wasn't able to notice a pattern in the magma. I metioned the 8th and 9th being where he comes up. His wind howl is a huge opening too, his bite and head lift ones are decent as well...
I'm now crafting Akantor's Armor set. I'm now close to completion because the Helm, Gauntlets, and Greaves are recently crafted. Now I need to get hunt the Rajang and Gravios to finish the rest.

Wow, incredible video pal, you can truly feel the dedication that went into this one (I'm not saying that the other ones are worse, I already liked your style of mhfu guides, it's just that a monster as iconic as this one deserves a treatment like such). For people who are having problems with this fight, it is worth mentioning that you should go for a high raw dmg weapon and not to waste time with one with high elemental (even if you use elements that Akantor is weak against), if it's a hammer even better. This fight is what made me become a hammer main... the influence a good weapon choice has in a hunt like this is brutal. Just don't get greedy with those golf swings, you have plenty of time to space your attacks.
Another epic hunt! I watch these videos for the commentary as much as for the hunting. I think you should definitely include more of your music in your videos going forward.

wow, what an way to end the FU series than with Akantor, this really looked like a hard fight even tho i come from 5th gen instead of 2nd gen. Well, I still have the guild hall to cover, and various mechanics like armor skills, palicos, etc. My living and financial conditions make some things more difficult than they should be... but yeah, I hope I can do things like stream my playthrough of MH Rise, if I can get it when it comes out...
I fought Akantor a few times in GU and despite how slow it moves, it feels absolutely oppressive to fight. It really takes a lot of consistency and patience to beat this thing. Alatreon wasn't fun either, though Akantor probably has more raw strength by my recollection.
Yeah, Akantor being so big and with such big hitboxes definitely makes it tough, it's kinda neat. You can make a fight tricky without making the monster very fast. Something like Mangamalo is fast, but Shara Ishvalda is slow, but they're both pretty tough for different reasons 😩

Yeah, they're definitely part of a bunch of side videos I want to start making soon, we'll see how it goes, that being said, I can't possibly cover every single thing, like everywhere it spawns for example, and as well, I'm limited by my own ability to test things and whether or not it's been tested already. I could fight gravios and find out what he drops (besides gravios parts) but if there's already info on the wiki (for a lot of things there isn't enough) then that makes it much much more practical.

Hey great job! You can do it, you've come this far!! For G Rank you'll need to do the key quests in the high rank guild hall. This is probably controversial, but I hate fighting this thing. Something about it's hitboxes just screws me up, I'll think im safe when the space near one of it's back legs sends me flying as it moves away from me or something. Just not a fan, regardless I think Akantor is one of the coolest Monsters design wise, and I hope it comes back in Rise with improved hitboxes and less jank.
Nah that's totally fair lol, I think his hitboxes are the same or very similar to Tigrex since they share some moves, like the charge and the bite move, and I feel the same way about Tigrex. In the MH series, it just depends I guess, some monsters have pretty accurate hitboxes, like blangonga and rajang for the most part(?) but then, obviously Plesioth is a big example, even in MHW, Banbaro has some really messy hitboxes that can be problematic lol, it's a whole thing, dunno what all causes it :/ tbh I want to normalize people being able to say "I hate this monster" or "I hate this fight" etc. without people coming in and saying "nah it's easy, you're just trash" or something like that, lol, it's not helpful or good for the community to have toxicity and elitism, but MH definitely has it. Personally I didn't know what to think about Akantor until I figured out how to avoid his charge, playing as LS mainly though my experience wont match up to those who use other weapons against him. I dunno if I like him or not lmao but I don't really hate fighting him I suppose. I could farm the gear if I wanted to (I might) which is nice. Fight sure takes a long time though 😩😩
Yo i made it to 9 star village. Did the first 3 quests with ease. I switched over to gunning. And im using the rajang barrage. Makes the game easy like cake now. Just wanted to ask what gunner armour you recommend i use, its pretty confusing with 27 pages of armour. And also whats the difference between S sets and U sets?
Nice, keep it up :) Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with gunner equipment Fortunately, Mazereon is, you should check his guide, he's got some recommended armors for the different ranks: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/psp/943356-monster-hunter-freedom-unite/faqs/56818 S armors are the high rank equivalent, U armors are their subspecies, so like Gypceros has an S armor and Purple Gypceros has a U armor. There can be some U's that are good, and some that arent, it's just a different take on the same idea.
@@massimhb8674 However, if you ask the people from HunsterVerse, they wouldn't recommend getting the Akantor weapons because of their terrible Sharpness mitigating their hunting speedruns. The Akantor Bow seems to be the only weapon they like.

lol it's really good, there's not really much reason to use another one for high rank tbh. I recommend different armors if it would be more helpful/important to have something other than just a damage upgrade, but for the most part there's not, as far as I can tell. A big reason I recommend continuing to use it also is that you'll already have it by this point, and I want to keep farming at a minimum. Also, I definitely recommend people modify what I recommend to better fit their playstyle.

Do you have any tips against Gravios? Crimson Fatalis is honestly 100x easier than that damn rock, especially in G Rank. You either build damage and gets one shotted with his beam, or build defense and do no damage at all.

Once you've cleared this quest, it's time to go to the guild hall.

I recommend everyone stay in the village quests first, and then go to the guild hall, it's more efficient that way, but you can do whatever.
Also, it's taken me a while, but I've finally covered Ash Lao-Shan Lung, it'll be linked in that low rank guild quest video.
The general course I'd recommend is clearing the low rank village quests and then getting into high rank in the guild to unlock the gathering quests.
The hardest high rank quest at that point I'd imagine is Ash Lao, the urgent quest to get into HR 5 and unlock the rest of the gathering quests.
Akantor is the main reason for me to play this game, as if he's the final frontier I have to face after coming this far. And the fact that you're telling a story about silly gaming stuff with the boys & you making music is such a wholesome "shounen manga finale" moment for me.

After watching your guide, I gotta say I finally beat Akantor. Armed with my HR Rathalos Gear and Narga LS I finally took the big guy down. It felt refreshing, honestly this is one of the only fights I've encountered so far that kept me on the edge of my seat, really gave me a run around. When I beat this guy and the credits rolled shortly after, I felt a great sense of accomplishment rush over me. This whole game felt like an Odyssey. That too this fight was a pretty good send off for me. Terrible map layout but great fight nonetheless and you helped me accomplish all of that with your guides.
Thank you headhunter, now I'm off to the gathering hall to help other fellow hunters. (But before I do so I'll farm Akantor for his gear because it looks kickass)

However, there is a Akantor Glitch I've been using to snipe Akantor with Gunner weapons.
Akantor is still hard in GU, where you have a lot of options for mobility and weapon variety.

I just wanted to give you a shout out. I finished monster hunter freedom unite today in preparation for rise. all of G rank solo and all 3 fatalis for the first time. when I started I happened across your plesioth video and as I beat monsters I would then watch your video on that monster to see if there were mechanics I missed or just to chill out. it felt good to seemingly co-op playthrough the game(even though your videos were much older than when I started) and even though I have outpaced you I am excited to see when you get to g rank and beyond(if you are going for it) 178 hours of my time well spent on a game with blatantly terrible and intentionally padded and frustrating design that somehow despite its many many flaws remained fun to the end. thanks for the entertainment and the feeling of playing through an ancient game at the same time as someone else. maybe ill see you in rise.

I'm writing this just to flex that today I managed to take down my first HR/G Akantor, took me three tries :) (two of them I would just reset the game after a faint, out of sheer feeling of challenge, you really hyped that one up LOL). I used Wyvern Blade 'Maple' and I didn't use any bombs, I just dived through his charges with around 90% success rate (I consider myself pretty good at positioning, no boasting or anything :D) Keep making content whenever you feel like, and cheers, best of everything to you mate :)

Resetting the game is 100% valid. I remember the first day I was playing MHGen, dunno what fight it was but I was with a friend and I was just like "nope. nope. nope. that didn't happen." and I closed the game on my 3ds and re-opened it 😂😂😂

whoa, i still can't figure out how way back when in 2012 I and 3 cousins managed to beat akantor, all we did was bring hammers and the max amount of flash bombs and someone would take a turn constantly flashing the akantor while the other 3 went to town with the hammers. overall good guide homie.

- Call me dumb, but when i fought him i went the extremely reckless way of fighting, i just went for the chest and stayed under him for most of the fight.

- Oh and, final note, in all of technicallity, Akantor is the final boss, and G-Rank and beyond are just the post-game, so i guess one could say MHFU is done, not complete, but done.
Tigrex is the first final boss, the stuff after that feels extra up until high rank, but you do get a nice cutscene and credit roll after Akantor. After that I guess there's Ukanlos or *i guess* fatalis

Akantor is a beast, I can’t think of other monsters that can no-sell Gravios laser beam like that. I feel that he can beat Nergigante or Deviljho if ever they fight.

IDK why but my favorite sound in FU is the sound Aka makes when you trip or interrupt/stagger him. Also watching this video has made me realize how much harder this fight is without a shield as so many moves that are simple and quick to block take so much time and effort to avoid without one. My experience and opinion on Aka and Uka would've been very different if I had chosen a different weapon to use instead of the lance.

Not sure the reasoning behind not being able to capture some creatures, I guess it's probably just "Elder Dragons are too dangerous to try capturing." Like, I can imagine it being very difficult to keep something like Kushala, Kirin, Teostra, and of course Akantor (way too big) contained if it woke up. Mega juice is fine. Power juice is much much more practical and a hell of a lot easier and faster to get. These videos are meant to alleviate frustration and grinding, feel free to do things in different ways, I encourage that.

Not sure the reasoning behind not being able to capture some creatures, I guess it's probably just "Elder Dragons are too dangerous to try capturing." I don't remember Plesioth having too many lingering hitboxes, maybe the water beam I guess? Tigrex has a lot, and a handful of other monsters, like Nargacuga, but they're related to Tigrex, so, lol. Kut-ku's fireballs too, etc.

yooo finally its here. This is my favorite fight so far, he's not so challenging but if your not careful he can easily kill you in a few hits.
I'm not sure but I think the lava spurts have a set pattern also the 8th and 9th is always to right of where he is.
The best attacks to punish is fake charge, tail swipes and when he burrows.
I keep getting myself killed because I used a Greatsword instead of a Hammer.
I used the Greatsword to cut its tail but soon I regretted bringing it.

Because Hammer hits very hard and can combo 3 times and Greatsword can only hit once and leaves you too vulnerable after attacking.

If you completed the Lvl 3 Greatsword charge, the area of effect will become tenderized.
I took advantage of Akantor's slow movement by predicting where his head will be.
I only hit the head because the Greatsword cannot combo or else I get knocked around.
I wasn't able to notice a pattern in the magma. I metioned the 8th and 9th being where he comes up.
His wind howl is a huge opening too, his bite and head lift ones are decent as well...
I'm now crafting Akantor's Armor set.
I'm now close to completion because the Helm, Gauntlets, and Greaves are recently crafted.
Now I need to get hunt the Rajang and Gravios to finish the rest.

Wow, incredible video pal, you can truly feel the dedication that went into this one (I'm not saying that the other ones are worse, I already liked your style of mhfu guides, it's just that a monster as iconic as this one deserves a treatment like such). For people who are having problems with this fight, it is worth mentioning that you should go for a high raw dmg weapon and not to waste time with one with high elemental (even if you use elements that Akantor is weak against), if it's a hammer even better. This fight is what made me become a hammer main... the influence a good weapon choice has in a hunt like this is brutal. Just don't get greedy with those golf swings, you have plenty of time to space your attacks.

Crow Torrent is a G rank weapon (G2★), Akantor is only in high rank, so yes you can do it with Crow Torrent.

My living and financial conditions make some things more difficult than they should be... but yeah, I hope I can do things like stream my playthrough of MH Rise, if I can get it when it comes out...
I fought Akantor a few times in GU and despite how slow it moves, it feels absolutely oppressive to fight. It really takes a lot of consistency and patience to beat this thing. Alatreon wasn't fun either, though Akantor probably has more raw strength by my recollection.
Yeah, Akantor being so big and with such big hitboxes definitely makes it tough, it's kinda neat.
You can make a fight tricky without making the monster very fast.
Something like Mangamalo is fast, but Shara Ishvalda is slow, but they're both pretty tough for different reasons 😩

Yeah, they're definitely part of a bunch of side videos I want to start making soon, we'll see how it goes, that being said, I can't possibly cover every single thing, like everywhere it spawns for example, and as well, I'm limited by my own ability to test things and whether or not it's been tested already.
I could fight gravios and find out what he drops (besides gravios parts) but if there's already info on the wiki (for a lot of things there isn't enough) then that makes it much much more practical.

This is probably controversial, but I hate fighting this thing. Something about it's hitboxes just screws me up, I'll think im safe when the space near one of it's back legs sends me flying as it moves away from me or something. Just not a fan, regardless I think Akantor is one of the coolest Monsters design wise, and I hope it comes back in Rise with improved hitboxes and less jank.
Nah that's totally fair lol, I think his hitboxes are the same or very similar to Tigrex since they share some moves, like the charge and the bite move, and I feel the same way about Tigrex.
In the MH series, it just depends I guess, some monsters have pretty accurate hitboxes, like blangonga and rajang for the most part(?) but then, obviously Plesioth is a big example, even in MHW, Banbaro has some really messy hitboxes that can be problematic lol, it's a whole thing, dunno what all causes it :/
tbh I want to normalize people being able to say "I hate this monster" or "I hate this fight" etc. without people coming in and saying "nah it's easy, you're just trash" or something like that, lol, it's not helpful or good for the community to have toxicity and elitism, but MH definitely has it.
Personally I didn't know what to think about Akantor until I figured out how to avoid his charge, playing as LS mainly though my experience wont match up to those who use other weapons against him. I dunno if I like him or not lmao but I don't really hate fighting him I suppose. I could farm the gear if I wanted to (I might) which is nice. Fight sure takes a long time though 😩😩
Yo i made it to 9 star village. Did the first 3 quests with ease. I switched over to gunning. And im using the rajang barrage. Makes the game easy like cake now. Just wanted to ask what gunner armour you recommend i use, its pretty confusing with 27 pages of armour. And also whats the difference between S sets and U sets?

S armors are the high rank equivalent, U armors are their subspecies, so like Gypceros has an S armor and Purple Gypceros has a U armor. There can be some U's that are good, and some that arent, it's just a different take on the same idea.

Akantor isn't from the village elder, it's from Nekoht, this is a high rank only quest and monster.

lol it's really good, there's not really much reason to use another one for high rank tbh.
I recommend different armors if it would be more helpful/important to have something other than just a damage upgrade, but for the most part there's not, as far as I can tell. A big reason I recommend continuing to use it also is that you'll already have it by this point, and I want to keep farming at a minimum.
Also, I definitely recommend people modify what I recommend to better fit their playstyle.

Do you have any tips against Gravios? Crimson Fatalis is honestly 100x easier than that damn rock, especially in G Rank. You either build damage and gets one shotted with his beam, or build defense and do no damage at all.
