This is an important practical consideration, especially if wearer collapses onto the ground after sustaining injuries on the battlefield.
This new SBO is based on the First Spear plate carrier systems, so the understanding is that the new buckles are so efficient that they effectively replace the emergency pull cord.

I can imagine this new system just needing to release the sides and pulling it up towards the head for removal. Imo both are equally accessible and quick for removal.

While I was issued the new SBO design in the 90s, I went back to belt design when I turned operational as it was much more comfortable & much better in heat dissipation. Went one big round and end up with the old design. Heehee

Have you tried loosening the side panels by re-stringing the elastic on the back? Although I do get what you mean it does get quite annoying to re-string it every time you use the plates.

The armour seem to focus more on mobility and comfort. Most likely a "light" armour. The unit doctrine this armour use for is speed and endurance. I'm sure they have other varieties of that address your issue.

Ballistic plates are intended to stop rounds targeted at the upper torso area which contains the heart, lungs, and liver. These organs are considered as a higher priority for protection as compared to the abdomen which is mostly the small and large intestine. It would not be practical for the ballistic plate to cover the entire torso.

Overall it looks comfortable. The high cut helmet design is awesome. Why couldn't have they done all these during my ns time. 🤣
I see a lot of people criticising the sliding method, but it's actually really easy & quick to use once you get used to it. (This guy makes it look hard) He also didn't demo that the shoulder straps use the same but shorter method of securement. I find it's faster and easier to leave one side fully buckled and put it on sideways instead of lifting it over your head
Looks like it's designed with inputs from people sitting in air-con room working 8-5 desk jobs. Imagine having to put this on quickly, in the dark, dead tired, and lack of sleep!

The lbv without the plates is actually not too hot. With them in it gets a bit sweaty but I'd certainly prefer to have the option to put plates in an actual hot war. (Although I've never actually seen the ballistic plates, they just give us dummy blue plastic ones I hope they do have them lest we end up like the russians with fake plates😅)

Generally, there's not much weight on the waist belt at most a couple of magazines full water bottle and whatever you can fit in a utility pouch. Also, he doesn't show it here but on the inside of the waist belt there are pads that are velcroed to it so you can move them around to make it quite comfortable. Not to mention that you can loosen & tighten it as you like.
If you base on game or some countries forces. Their webbing are more advanced. Is this some country phase out item selling to Singapore or Singapore own design? If base on this reporter wearing. I wonder how you perform breakfall and prone. Either you break your rib cage or hurt your stomach

It doesn't. But even if it did, the pouches are modular so you can move them around to where you like them. For example, you can put the front pouches on the side of the belt or even on the back of the vest if you wanted to.

I think main purpose of helmet is to protect your from your head being hit by debris and fragments. Making you more agile with a lighter helmet can help prevent you from being hit by enemy in first place.

That sliding mechanism doesn't look that practical if you need to don the vest quickly.
I'm pretty sure its faster or the same since its stretchable, you can just don the vest without unlocking the side belt panel.
Concerned it could easily be fouled with sand, as well.

2:00 i can see this will be a problem for quite some time, especially if you need to move quickly.
I suspect most soldiers will keep one side always locked, and just wear it like its a tee shirt and buckle/unbuckle the other side.

The straps appear to be adjustable which probably means that the person doesn't want to waste time adjusting the straps for accuracy.

It's actually pretty easy if you undo a shoulder strap & put it on sideways instead of lifting it over your head like the guy in the video.

Yea but protection level may also be comprimised. Maybe the old one was NIJ Level III but the the new one maybe NIJ Level IIIA or even Level II 😬
