I have not hiked that area yet. I few others I can recommend from my trips to Phoenix: Tom's Thumb, Dixie Mine Trail, the Wave Cave Trail, and Massacre Falls. The Ballantine Trail off 87 was my favorite for hiking and backpacking, but it was just overrun by the Bush fire.

you posted this back in june but based on your attire, you didn't hike in june. what month did you do the hike? winter? early spring?
hey laura, out of curiosity, is your backpack designed for carrying a small dog or just a regular backpack?
Good question! I use a large Osprey Back (65L) and put a blanket at the bottom so it's comfy for him. He's always excited to be in it! I know for every dog that's different though!
