I had one of these and replaced it the horse car. But your idea is a good one. The grandchildren love the car and are happy to have it in one spot just to keep it going and help the horses or cattle when needed.
Thanks Ray for a nice comprehensive video. I picked up one of these at a flea market recently for $10 and found out when I got home it didn't work, yeah what a shocker. Took it apart and found a broken wire which I was able to solder. It works great now but after looking at yours I realize it did not come with that bottom adjustable piece so I guess I'll use a few pieces of wood to hold it up a little. Using American Flyer cows for now because I had them, luckily they work pretty good. Forgot to mention mine is the 1949 version.
Very nice tip to get the cattle car working. Looks beautiful as a static display. Seems to be a wonderful solution to get the car to work. Nice tip on having equal voltage on all components! Great video as always!!!
The photo for the introduction was hilarious with the cows on top of the rail car! The only operating accessory I have for my Lionel 027 is the operating coal elevator I picked up years ago. I'm starting to get more rolling stock for my 5 Lionel 027 engines. Once I have enough, I plan to make an O (027) scale layout. I need some O scale cows since I plan on a farm in O scale. I like your fencing--is it scratch built? Cheers from eastern TN
Yes my fencing is scratch built . I also have a video on how to make cheap chain link fence . Thanks for your comment . Good luck with your layout . Remember to keep it fun
I have done most of the same things. The car didn't work very well, the platform worked ok. The rubber supports were shot, and I had used a kleenex tissue under the platform. I bought new rubber supports and made it into a stationary display. The car works great. The platform barely works now. It has to be a elevation problem. Kleenex vs rubber supports. Still a project but getting closer!
My car is free to roam and works reasonably well. First the new rail sound locomotives allow car alignment without the hit or miss positioning of the past. Make sure all components are adjusted properly allowing freedom of movement without interference from adjacent component unless required. (Cattle loading ramps need to be set and aligned touching coral equally both sides. Replaced all felt cushioned attachment points. (Much time is needed to get it right) I wiped down the platform with a silicon wax remover. (Allows cattle required traction to negotiate perfections without falling over). Important! This car adjusted at the factory and works accordingly (washed my car in dishwasher detergent removing scum and insuring required weights. Unfortunately the car requires frequent adjustments!
I think the easiest option would be just to use a piece of tubular track with the accessory , or else you have to modify the fast track or the cattle stand . Good luck .
I did the same to mine on my last layout. Put it on a section that went to the backdrop to make it look like it was a spur going off in the distance. Otherwise you would drive yourself crazy getting the danged thing lined up right.
I think I have a newer model, with ours the ramps are in the car, and the path is curved. Still haven't hooked it up yet, but looking for videos of cattle to get hints.
@@raysrails2164 Maybe ours is some kind of hybrid, that it looks like the horse stable, but the car does mention cattle on it, and it came with cows, but yeah, it's definately the horse corral mechanism, what I see in other videos. We;ll. You have a good idea, locking it all down like this. I don't quite have the real estate for that, but we'll see.
Ray, NOTHING in life is perfect. I think you have found the best solution to this problem. Thanks for sharing it. 👍
Ray...a nifty idea. I've never seen a platform work so smoothly. Job well done ! Thanks.....Jim from Maine.

They are numerous in the bargain bin at train shows . My last video showed how to customize the horse carrol thanks for watching.

Love your idea Ray. Thanks and my grandkids are going to be very happy.
Awesome!
Great toys
Great video
Thanks!
Yep have a great day !!
Thanks for all your tips
Thank you for making this video Ray. I will be mounting mine in the next coming days. Much appreciated! 😊
Glad it helped
Brilliant! Thanks Ray!
That's very cool Ray, nice cattle platform and nice work! 😀
Your cows are outstanding in their field.
Great tips and narration! 👍
Great idea Ray! I might do the same thing to mine. Thanks for the info
Very cleaver! I got to try this technique for my layout

Great tips! Lionel didn't make one in HO scale, did they?
No lionel did not make this one in ho scale . Have a fun weekend . Thanks for watching .

I enjoyed the video.
Some good looking steaks on hoof there. 😎👍
Oops. I said rubber supports, and they are felt. Still working on it!
GREAT VIDEO, HOW WOULD YOU CONNECT/HOOK UP/OPERATE THIS CATTLE PLATFORM ON A FASTRACK LAYOUT. THANKS IM STILL LEARNING

Used your system on the plastic version with great success.
Very nice I noticed you got a stock yard scene in the back. Are you able to run all 3 loading docks at the same time?
I am still working on this part of the layout so for now only one cattle stand is wired up.thanks for watching.

Sounds like you have the one that loads the horses. Good luck with it.

Hey Ray, just curious, what was your first train set that you can remember?
The lionel 681 steam engine. It still runs great. thanks for watching.
how can I get the user manual? I bought one at a swap meet w/o instruction sheet
Great video
thanks,have a great day.
Awesome idea is the car run by track current
No the car gets current from the tabs under it ,that are connected to the platform.thanks for asking
Nice layout I sub u
thank you
My last comment, will be, that the platform solenoid has an adjustment screw. My platform now matches the car for vibration and speed of the cows.
That’s the only one I ever saw work 😂
I'm working on the horse corral next . Have a great day .
Mooving parts.
