    Rudy was a good friend for many years. Your compliments are well deserved. My only regret is that he never got the stardom he deserved. He was every bit as good as Eddie Fischer and others of that time.

      Success does not depend on just talent. It takes getting the right breaks... financial support from someone willing to assist you financially and God wanting you to succeed. Without all three of those things going for you... chances are... you will not succeed no matter how hard you try. Instead of fame & success... your whole life will be a mere existence and a total clusterfu_k. I know this first hand.

    As I watch this wonderful clip over and over, I can't help but think to myself how truly beautiful innocence is. If only the world had more of the beautiful example felt through this precious young man's voice. It's a shame he (Rudy Wissler) didn't get credit for his rare talent at the time. Nevertheless, it was worth it all for the world to have his stellar voice in this excellent movie clip.

How he learned the words i don't know because we had no radio and their was no TV in those days. You could understand every word in the songs in those days,, despite the poor sound quality of the day. You cannot make out a single word of today's songs, if you can call them songs.

      I don't think so.
      But the 'liberals' of today would tear you to pieces if you did that now.
      OK, 16 is a bit too young for taking marriage vows but I know quite a few old ladies who did so and now they're happy great-grand mothers.
      The thing about liberals is that you're welcome into their world provided you agree with everything they say, do and don't do.

    • @vincentsartain3061
      @vincentsartain3061 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to understand that THE JOLSON STORY (1946) is a highly fictionalized account of the life and career of Al Jolson. "Julie Madison" stood in for Jolson's ex-wife, Ruby Keeler, who would not give consent to the film studio to portray her onscreen; so "Julie Madison" was invented. In the movie, Julie first tries to make Al stick with retired life, then leaves him because she realizes that he's like a caged bird that deserves to be set free; but in real life, Jolie never "retired" but he was in a career slump, and Miss Keeler never asked him to step down from showbiz but left him because he had become abusive toward her.

    Jolson Had To Be The only Jewish Entertainer That Could Sing Like An Irish Tenor,Joe Feeney( Irish Tenor,The Lawrence Welk Show) Probably Emulated Jolson's Singing Style.

    • @vincentsartain3061
      @vincentsartain3061 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Quite a few pop artists have emulated Jolson who was an idol to them: Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley to name just a few.

    • @vincentsartain3061
      @vincentsartain3061 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I might also venture the guess that Jolson was far from the only entertainer with Jewish or non-Irish, non-British roots to sing the kind of songs that were popular to WASP / Caucasian audiences. Irving Berlin famously wrote and composed "White Christmas," for instance. Countless other Jewish vaudevillians incorporated songs and other types of entertainment in their acts which catered to the WASP society of their day in order to stay in business if nothing else. Other showbiz figures like Lebanese-American Danny Thomas (who sung "Danny Boy" and made it as much his signature song as "Thanks for the Memories" was Bob Hope's) also knew where their bread was buttered and became better known for the kind of comedy and singing that would appeal to the predominantly Anglo / Irish American audiences.

    • @vincentsartain3061
