wow that 5-6 is a big jump in ratios
Chances are the top speed is attainable in 5th gear.
@Steve C it looks like he topped out 5th at 212kms and went an additional 17km/hr in 6th

6th gear is definitely for cruising comfortably at 120km/h
6th is for Street driving, you wouldn't get out of 5th on a track as no straights are long enough except for maybe the ring.

So much faster than the last gen one, I had a 2013 and it was no wear near this fast even with a E85 tune.

It accelerates well, looks great and I love the interior too but the engine note doesn't sound very good to me
Part of it is electronic piped in via a speaker near the firewall. You can turn it off which eliminates the higher pitched frequencies

If this is one tuned and limiter removed, it could reach a top speed of 250 something. That 6th has a lot of room to make more speed.
So it s a 5 gears box + an overdrive! This little engine sounds good imo!

As an ex GT86 owner, 120mph felt very jittery and unsafe. This looks much more stable.
Did yours have low mileage? Usually that’s the case when these cars have worn bushings and old shocks.

Sixt gear, disappointment. 243hp shud be at least 250km/h .
It's a pity that all present day sportive Toyotas, apart from the Supra, are limited before the 'usual' 250km/h. That shows that the German autobahn clearly wasn't the main focus of the engineers. Nevertheless, they are excellent track tools!
this car is slow anyways, and autobahn isnt worldwide accesible so who cares about autobahn

@@THEROADSMITH every german mid size to full size sedan, you'd be surprised how well they are suited to comfortably sit at 280km/h
@@skidhvh well, if you book the extra packages for that. Almost all German Cars (BMW, Audi, Benz etc.) are limited at 250km/h by default
@@skidhvh I doubt that’s the main focus. efficiency price and practicality would be before that. Also all those cars have their biggest sales in other markets which have limited roads. Merc bmw etc don’t build cars primarily for a few thousand kms of road.

0-100 just below 10s. V-max 210km/h on dashboard. Had it for almost a year... Overall good little car
so good. transmission works smooth. the engine sounds pleasant.

I'm surprised if the top speed is only 229 kph. My 24 year-old Porsche Boxster S, which cost €13,000 in 2019, will do at least 260 -- with 17 hp more.
Gr86 can drift, but i get your point
Gr86 will give you a bit more joy in the mountain road, it’s not meant for straight line acceleration
Watching the rpm gauge, you can clearly see it’s limited.

Any time I watch GT86 / GR86 video people flock how it sucks so bad regarding power.. where do you drive if that is not enough?? Around here, most people have cars up to 140kw and average would be even less than that to keep the costs down. Is it really slowing you down on the track or are you just driving straight on autobahn while going deerp car slow=bad?

I love this car yet I can't help myself to not compare this powertrain to the Honda's K24 from 20 years ago. This engine just lacks a bit of character and it sounds weird at the top end

It's on their 100-200 list with 15.96 sec.. Ok-ish for 235HP and 250Nm NA I guess.. This car is not meant for high speed Autobahn sprints anyway..

@@r129r16pfl In EU they are limited around 240-220 km/h because in most countries you can't go over 130km/h anyway, only the german autobahn has no speed limit, but the way i heard it its not too long and its going to get a speed limit as well. nd it has to do a little about emissions as well, you limit the car, put an eco mode in, have the emission and you can sell it, otherwise no car at all.

Nice. Sure the max speed is not so attractive but how the car react for aerodinamics and drive in a speed of 150-200 km/h it is a really compact GT car. Especially fuel consumption on autobanh. Really good job done!

If my calculation is right, the car can actually go 160-162 mph, depending on the air density and tire pressure, all other parameters remaining the same, for its drag-limited top speed, but it seems it's electronically governed or limited to around 6,000-6,100 rpm.

Gear ratio selection makes me wonder which kindergarten did this? The 3, 4, 5 gears are too close that the 4th can be skipped. And the purpose of the long 6-th gear is hard to understand. 6000 RPM at the top speed doesn't make any sense.
Design for a track and drift, not a GT continent crosser.
@@shortfattoad7317 Do you think the car would drastically change if the 5-th and the 6-th were just a little longer (~10%) so the top speed could be achieved on the 5-th? And the 6-th could be used only for an economy driving with lower RPM.
