After "India/Impressions", World Saxophone Quartet participated and played "My Favorite Things." That was amazing! The Japanese radio station FM-Tokyo must have recorded the performance. I have been looking for the recording for 34 years.
It's been released as an album (CD) on Columbia as Live Under The Sky - A Tribute To John Coltrane, but it was just the three tracks with Wayne, Dave, Richie, Eddie & Jack (India/Impressions morphing one into the other and making one track).
Wonderful set, very good video and sound production, except that video was dark most of the time thanks to dark stage lighting that ignored the needs of video, and the sound mixer multi-multi mic drum setup forgot the ride cymbal. It ain't rock and roll! I was pointed to this set by Richie and Dave's memoir, which I'm currently enjoying.
wayne ,,,we will MISS YOU !!
John Coltrane 1926-1967.
The best music and the best musician!!!!!!!!!
Coltrane was a force of nature a pioneer and a boundless great
explorer. Everyone else where just good musicians.
I've heard both Dave and Wayne live ,what a privilege these master's artistry is overwhelming.
Makes you sit up and listen heh.
I have this on vinyl!
The first time I heard DeJohnette was on this recording, incredible ... that ride !!!
Wayne Shorter un grande esploratore come Coltrane… ha esteso la musica jazz oltre nuovi orizzonti
Tout simplement grandiose !

Liebman is scary jazz.

You become a master of your instrument, you can play all the notes and scales however fast, and then you try Jazz.
