Well I had a shock and I’ve lost £93.50 for a passport renewal. The reason: I was honest saying I already had an irish passport so the uk passport office said my application had two Christian names as second names whilst my Irish had no second names. As they don’t match they asked me to change my name by deed poll or get the Irish passport changed by adding two second names. There was no mention of this in the application paperwork or that the fee would not be reimbursed. Rip off Britain again….. I’ll use my Irish passport from now on. No uk passport for me.

@@Ghostlove92Kat Yes the website said "up to 10 weeks" when I did it. But I did make a point of following all the steps in the video right down to the labels on the envelopes. May have just go lucky, but my neighbour also got two new passports in just two weeks.

He said he did it all online and just dropped off his old passport in the mail via DHL today. I am worried though because he's overseas, not physically in the UK. But going to try and stay positive. thank you for the info!

I just paid to to renew m y uk passport from overseas (Germany), but after paying I got a screen that said 'your session timed up, either becuase xxx , or because payment is complete.' - no notification with the address where I should sent the old passport to... and no reference number. and no email. my banks says the the payment is pending... Is there I way I can contact them to find out if the renewal went through??

After Brexit i managed to get Maltese citizenship. As my mum married when i was a toddler my dad adopted me and i took his name. Malta do not recognise adoptions from abroad, so my Maltese passport was in my original name. All was well until in November i had to renew my uk passport and declare duel nationality and refused a uk passport because the names not aligned . It was touch and go, but i got proof of this from the Maltese high commission in London and from Identity Malta, in Malta, that i would have to get a lawyer and go to court in Malta to get my name changed . Finally i got an email saying i have been approved and issued a UK passport, with a note in it stating i hold a Maltese passport with my other name. Which i was happy about, as it proves its all above board , if i get stopped with both passports. UK have a policy of all passports must have the same name, unless of exceptional circumstances Just like to add i phoned HM passport a couple of times during my application and the phone was answered immediately both times . Never experienced that before. The second call was to see how it was all going and give more info, the lady was brilliant and added notes . I stated i was honest declared everything and hoped i would not be punished. She said i think you will get a passport with everything provided and she was correct . I had a UK passport since the age of 16, i am 53 now
Does the passport number change when you renew it? I live outside Britain , need to book our flight this month of May for November flight but I haven’t renewed my passport and it will expire November this year, can I send it end of this month to have it renewed even though it will expire in NOVEMBER? I renewed my old passport on the 29th june. Done check and send had pic done at the post office . My pic was rejected so went back had another pic taken at the same post office thats been rejected can some tell me why because im doing everthing right

Hello I am renewing my passport from the US. I sent over the documentation and my old passport all in the same envelope. I received an email saying that my documentation had arrived but that I still needed to send in my old passport. Because it was included in the same envelope, I'm confused why they are not showing my old passport as received but have no way of calling HM Passport Office as the international line is disconnected. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Thank you, but I have one question. If you are applying from outside the UK, where is the option to enter a foreign address? Obviously, entering a foreign post code is not going to work. Is the option on the "find address" button? I should like to know this before starting the application process and end up getting stuck half-way through.

A photo taken on an iPad might be about 24KB which is not enough and the photo will be unsuitable. So take it on a smart phone instead.

Wonder if u have idea that the track n signs services from post office , the signature I got was the delivery office, not the HMPO….
I'm sure the delivery office receives it and then it works it's way to the the HMPO office.
