Scott and Jean were kidnapped during the "Til Death Do Us Part" 2-part season premiere on the original series by Sinster so he could meddle with their DNA. Jean is subsequently kidnapped again in "Reunion, Part 1" and "Beyond Good and Evil, Part 1" by Sinister and his lackies.

The reason Sinister is so obsessed with Scott and Jean is because Scott has superior DNA 🧬 meaning he has the perfectly pure mutant genes to create omega level mutants. It even gives him and other members of his family the potential to surpass Omega level Scotts third brother Vulcan is beyond omega level. With Jean already being an Omega level mutant Sinister knew a child born from both of them would be invincible. In the comics Sinister also owned and ran the orphanage Scott lived in as a child he abused and experimented on him for years

if you want to know how the comics resolved the Scott/Jean/Logan triangle, they eventually became a throuple.

Madelyne Pryor in the comics was a clone of Jean that Scott married after she died. Madelyne looked nothing like Jean outside of the red hair. Later, they found out after Jean returned, and Scott abandoned his new family for Jean, the truth about Maddie. The show kinda did things a little better even if it was up wrapped up superfast.

The name Goblyn Queen makes in the comics more sense, cause there she unleashed hell on Earth and the demons taking over New York.

At what point in the 3 episodes you saw would they have had the time to switch Jean? Sinister wanted their baby, he needed them to make 1 first. The switch happened in the og show. We don't know when but there were at least 2 episodes where Sinister kidnapped Jean in the 90s.

We don't know where the exchange took place in the old episodes of X-Men TAS, but it's after the Phoenix Saga for sure.
OG Jean is still Cable's mother genetically even if she didn't give birth to him.
He has 2 mothers, some considered OG Jean his aunt but it's not the same thing as a twin sister's situation.
After watching X-Men 97, many considered it being in Top 3 of all Marvel's projects ever created and for some even number 1 for a cartoon from them(this one statement is clearly true without a doubt).
You saw Madelyne in the cartoon is hot, nothing to compared to her in the comics during the Inferno event lol

It actually is the same thing as an identical twin situation because identical twins are natural clones of each other. So Jean is his aunt and Madelyne is his mother.

Wolverine should just get the jean that did not give birth :P. Episode 5 is gonna shock you to your core :D so have fun with that one.
