This scene paints Leon as an almost supernatural hitman or a ghost like figure. What makes this movie so good is the brutal and disciplined killer is set aside to allow for tender moments when he bonds with Mathilda. There are some creepy elements with the adult male and his relationship with the underage girl--Mathilda loves or at least has a crush on Leon, but this is not reciprocated by Leon. Leon is without question a bad guy, but he is a better man than the cops who are chasing him. I feel the movie did a great job of painting Leon's character as a skillful assassin while also giving him a softer human side. Gary Oldman is a total son of a bitch in this movie and deserved an award for his portrayal of Stansfield.
I love the way that Leon fights. The very first fight against the fat man shows off what makes the action special in this film. We do not see Leon running in guns blazing, we barely see him at all while he picks off foes. Leon appears superhuman, but is grounded by the way he fights, which reveals that he is as vulnerable as any character in the film. His strength comes from his patience, every encounter he wins he does because he waits for his opponent to make the first mistake, to approach him, to put themselves in a compromising position. Every time he is reckless, there ends up being consequences, though the film makes a good argument about why we should take risks in life even when things could end bad.
Mine is the next one, Leon reading the letter (we really see him affected by it) and then saving her. Now, we see that he loved her and do anything for her.
@@PhlilipeAlves That was a really beautiful scene, indeed. And it is, certainly, vital, to the movie's ending, also, so much so that the building shown in the movie's cover, in the reflex of Léon's glasses, is the DEA building he breaks into, to save Mathilda.
@@Aquilaris you know what? Everything in this film is great. I am not a cinephile but it's probably my favorite film. Well, Natalie Portman is actually my favorite actress too.
@@PhlilipeAlves I agree. It is my second favorite movie, just after "Taxi Driver", from 1976, which is not only my favorite movie, but my favorite piece of art, in general. And, indeed - Natalie's a great actress. I really like her performance in "Black Swan", from 2010, as well. The closest we have to a "literally me" female character is the protagonist Nina, from said movie, I'd say, lol.
One of my favorite scenes of the film. A scene that starts the downfall of where the film gets sadder as well as more heartfelt, slowly leading towards the end. One of the most intense scenes of the film especially whenever Gary Oldman was present like he nailed his role, truly terrifying and one that is truly memorable like all the role he plays the man always puts full dedication alongside passion into his roles to make it as real as well as the best possible, the man always makes his characters be so memorable, iconic, stand out, & unforgettable. By far one of the greatest actors of all time and the man that made this film amazing, as well as one of the greatest films of all time, especially with Jean Reno who is so underrated. One of the most underrated actors of all time, an actor that honestly deserves to be considered one of the greatest actors of all time, especially with his amazing performance in Leon which was just so heartfelt, intense, emotional and really lives up to it. A scene where it slowly starts building up, and where it all starts to go down. If only she was able to pull it off for Leon to live on with her towards the end of the film even though if she waited, and followed along to what Leon said, all of them would've been taken out already which he was already doing. Like when Leon told her to stay at the apartment they were in when she asked where he was going since this mission was to much for her, as he was going out of his way to get her killers & avenge her family, and how he explained to her, if she were to do it, she would have to sleep with one of her eyes open at all times since there's no peace onwards after that, as well as how he struggles with life already from the very first time he's had to clean, and all his life he's been doing this & how much he cares for her, feels for her, and much more. Like what a film, with honestly so much to say. A film with such strong emotions that it moves you, it changes you, it touches your heart so much, and really gives you so many meanings about life and how its seen as well. Especially with the duo they were, the bond they had, and the build-up they had on each other. The motivation, meanings to one anothers life. One of the greatest movies of all time. Truly legendary, iconic, emotionally intense, heartfelt, and much more with soundtracks that are honestly so heartfelt as if it just pierces your heart, like it touches you so much. A film that is unforgettable, and will always have a special place in my heart. It honestly just means so much. Never forgotten, and always remembered. One of my favorite films, and one that is better felt, than explained with so much to keep on saying. Truly endless.
He's an old fashioned hitman. Bad guys, Leon has no issues but guys that hurt women and kids, well they are not gentlemen. Bit like Hannibal. He's a killer but he cleans up the streets. Makes the world a better place taking out the Cowards and evil bastards. Leon is a gent
He learned at that point in time that lines can be crossed. He crossed a line, whether unknowingly or decidedly, it was too late. Even at the end, it was a look if surprise, but he also knew. If there’s ever a biopic of me I demand Gary Oldman!
"I think it was something personal"
No, you dont say...

“No women no kids”
Silenced pistol noise
0:38 one of my dads favorite parts of the movie. RIP dad 😢 I miss you so much.
One of my favorite scenes of the movie.
Mines the next one

One of my favorite scenes in Hollywood history… this and “you talking to me?” Probably the top shelf

I saw it at theater 3 TIMES
The scene that'll never be forgotten man, Literally after this on, the film really gets to your heart, espically the battle, and Leon's true feelings.

The real "Deadshot" shot here
NO woman no children
Boom! No that's a play. Let's watch that on replay.
I think it was something personal.
Best line in the film.
And totally erroneous.
Mob hitmen don't do personal hits.

Are you telling me that the only thing his enemies have to do is take a woman or a kid to face him and there is no more Leon the professional?
One of the best scenes ever!!!!
i love your channel! i subscribed! 💗
Thank you!
Perfect
In this corrupted world the only motto I Live my by!!!
No TV versions, no deleted scenes.
c'est trop mignon ils ont tous peur
How are they new what leon said if he killed them?
Leon must have left a survivor
Got that?
I love hitmen.
Even though it is a movie seeing a person point a gun at a person with such shitty trigger discipline makes my skin crawl.
Think that's the point . He carelessly points gun his way
The guy going in to kill everyone in the room would WANT his finger on the trigger!? Like that's how the gun works?
Sorry. You're talking about Stansfield.
He's unhinged

I loved the use of Stings song. The lyrics and meloncholy tone. One of mh favourite movies, this and 12 angry men.
