Excellent Video. I bought one of these in excellent condition for my au pair but the door handle was broken when we bought it. I was able to fix it by myself at 9 months pregnant in 15 minutes in the dark thanks to this video. You are brilliant sir
Best Kia/Hyundai door replacement vid on YT. Great tip about leaving the cover screw in the door & socket. Probably saved me $200+ at a body shop, who would do it in about 4 minutes. LOL THANKS!
These videos take a huge amount of time to film, edit, and upload. Seeing all these uplifting comments are a huge reward. So glad i could help so many people. And save them a little cash as well! Thanks for supporting my TH-cam channel. Be sure to watch my newest Belt sqeak video Part 2 for some tips!!
Thank you sir - i had no idea how to even start this task - you made it simple - i'm sure Kia would have charged a fortune to do this - the passenger side rear door broke - no one uses that door for goodness sake - lol
I am in this situation right now with my 2011 Kia Sorento. I am going to follow your video and hope I can do this myself. Thanks! I just need to find the right tools. lol
2015 Kia Sportage front passenger door. Instructions are spot on. Note: Watch that screw! It can EASILY fall in the door. Also, the tape trick did not work for me. I didn't lose the screw. Next time (and with these cheap door handles, there will be a next time) I will get that magnetic ratchet thing he has.
Thank you so much. We have a problem where the door stopped working from the outside, but the child safety latch was on, so we can't open from the INSIDE EITHER. Do you think that if I drilled through this part you are replacing from the outside, that I could then remove latch and reach in somehow and open the door? Really appreciate you taking the time to share this video.
Literally had the same problem. Ended up taking the whole door off at the hinges and now currently working in getting a new latch assembly and handle. Just gonna do it all while I have it off
I'm currently trying to do the same thing. Can you tell me what that black piece called that goes under the handle? I'm having no luck with Google and can't read the part number. Thanks so much! That was a super helpful video.
That's mainly like a scuff protector for your paint between your handle. I'm sure your dealer would be able to find the exact part number. But I belive it would function without that piece as well. Good luck!
@PeggyCoddington-o2l will most likely have to take the door panel apart from the inside or at least the handle portion to pull the cable. From the inside.
My Sportage is 2008 but watched this video for reference. 05-10 Sportage has a much more difficult access to remove the part you replaced. Kia obviously made a smart mod after 2010.
I'm trying to do this but cannot get the screw loose. Holding the outside with pliers but it is so tight. Don't want to strip the screw. What can I do now?
Unfortunately they are left/right side and front and rear specific. Definitely use Google or a dealer to look it up to find your exact part number. I'm glad you can use my video for tips on changing this part out easily! Thanks for watching! Like, share, and subscribe 😁
Unfortunately, in the 2016 model Kia Sorento, the hole is behind the door panel. It's fairly easy to remove, but a bit more complicated than just the single cap in other Sorento models.
@@DrDemp thank you, I just had to pop the door panel off, which was surprisingly easy and there was a piece of clear see through tape to find the screw one the hole was exposed😊

Excellent video. Just wondering if the 2016 Sorento has the same type of door handle?

Try taking the door panel off from the inside with the door closed would be my suggestion. Its not easy but can usually be done.
Literally had the same problem. Ended up taking the whole door off at the hinges and now currently working in getting a new latch assembly and handle. Just gonna do it all while I have it off
thanks for the video BUT do I need to remove the entire inside driver's door panel to change the handle (lock is good) on a Kia Niro?
The outside handle you generally don't have to remove the panel to remove... the inside handle generally the door panel must be removed.
I'm currently trying to do the same thing. Can you tell me what that black piece called that goes under the handle? I'm having no luck with Google and can't read the part number. Thanks so much! That was a super helpful video.

I have a 2008 kia Sorento & the rear handle on mine is different. It's a solid piece & door panel has to come off to get to the nut on back side
Great video! However, the child safety lock is engaged so I can't get the door open. Any tips?

@@DrDemp thanks!!! Appreciate your time & input!
Is the process the same for the front driver side handle?
Should be very similar.
So I did drop mine down in the door! Can you tell me what size i need to get to replace it? I can't seem to find the info anywhere.
Take the door panel off and use a magnet, problem solved.. hopefully.
Thank you!
Well detailed
Your welcome, thanks for supporting my channel.
I looked up the part 826512P010 and this shows the longer part of the handle, not the small left stationary piece.
The handle is the part being replaced, which is a common failure.

What is the part number, couldnt see it? Can I just order it on Kia website?
The part number is in the description for this particular model for the Right Rear handle is #826512P010
@@DrDemp would it be the same #? it’s my left passenger door for a 2017 Kia Sorento.

This doesn't work for a 2016...please help
I do not have a 2016 available to me at this time. It should be very similar as all kia and Hyundai work off this basic design.
