Thank you so much. The Kia dealership wanted $300 just for the parts, not including installation. We bought new handles online and will be using this to do it ourselves! 😊
Just wanted to give a little feedback. I went to a mechanic near my house and for my mom’s front two door handles, I was looking at $185.00 total. I wasn’t paying for that. I followed your video to a T, and just got done with the driver side handle today. (saving the passenger door for tomorrow, lol.) All the way from Louisiana...I thank you, you HERO.
Thanks so much for posting this. This is the exact color and model of my mother's car and the latch just broke on the drivers side, identical to this. You have helped save us some money.
i just replaced the front driver's side door handle. The passenger door panel was easy to take off and I had to take it off in order to get to the inner nut that holds the door handle on. The outer bolt is easily removed from the door jam, but the inner nut would be basically impossible to remove. I bought the door handle on Amazon. Perfect fit, although getting the new handle inner bolt to go through the mounting hole inside of the door took a little persuading. One could file and make that hole just a bit bigger, but I was able to just whack the handle into place. Put some heavy duct tape on the end of the door handle and a few wacks of the hammer got it in. When removing the door panel, the plastic screws were easy to see. There were two metal screws, one behind the inside door open lever and one other down in the little pocket near the door lock controls, just as in this video. Took me 45 minutes start to finish. I do recommend propping up the door panel with a 5 gallon pail or something like that, otherwise the panel hangs on two wire bundles and less stress is best. The door panel is fairly light so probably not a big deal. Better safe than sorry. I could not tell exactly why my door handle did not work. Nothing seemed broken but it clearly was disconnected from the linkage. Anyway, it was easy to see what connects to what and how to install the new handle. My Sorento is Red, and the amazon handle was black. Actually it looks fine so I have no plans to paint anything. When pushing the door handle in to place after the linkages were all installed, just keep an eye on the plastic "seal/grommet" that runs around the door handle. It kind of gets stuck on the edge of the metal opening in the door, and you can be pushing on it, but the lip of the gasket may not quite be in the right place. So just keep an eye on that as you push the handle assembly in and start tightening bolts. The inner bolt nut was easy to tighten. The bolt in the door panel lined up just fine. I do recommend a putty knife to slide around the ends of the door panel when you pop it out after removing the little plastic screws. Be patient re attaching the panel. Takes a little up then down finagling to get it in the right place. Keep an eye on the molding at the top of the door panel when re attaching it. This is not my first door panel job as over the years I have worked on many many cars, replacing, windows, crank mechanisms, window gear motors or plastic gears, etc. I did pull out the lock cylinder and slid it back into the new handle. Did not have to disconnect any wires or anything. It just slides back into place on the door handle replacement. no bolts or anything, it is just kind of press fit in there. Not hard to remove out.
Thanks to Farmboy's Garage. I had this exact problem and your video showed me how to fix it. $20 after-market part and 45 minutes on a Saturday vs. a couple of hundred bucks at the shop.
Got to do one this weekend thanks for the little video man!👌🏻 I was rather impressed you had some hands of a mechanic like the way you use that screwdriver as plastic punch to not marr that handle up nice video💯.
Thanks for the video. I have a 2006 Kia Sedona and need to replace the passenger side handle. Door stuck during Seattle Snowpocalyse and I pulled a little too hard on it. This video helps to see the general idea of how to fix even though it's a different model and year. Thanks!
Now there is a video on TH-cam on how to do this job. I think she could find some plastic chrome covers for the handles and they would match again. Nice work.
Great job brother. Working in those doors it gets really tight. Half the time im dropping stuff down the door and breaking all the little plastic rivets lol had to get me a couple of bags of those things for backups hahah.
My wife just got a 2005 first damn day the drivers side handle broke the little piece on the back of the handle broke off I got one at rockauto.com and this video helped big time never had a Kia before so thanks for posting this. I have worked on a lot of cars over the years but not a Kia.
Great Video. I was able to replace the handle by watching. Now i'm having a problem with the keyless entry/electric locking. When we click it to unlock it does for a moment then locks its back. Any thoughts or similar issues?
Check if it is actually unlocking and not just sounding like it is unlocking. If it really is unlocking and locking, then the solenoid in the door handle may be shorting out or you wired it wrong?
Does TH-cam really expect people give up in the middle of an instructional or educational video to watch the advertisement? while 99.99999% of people are only hearing their own inner voice counting… 5,4,3,2,1,skip ad!
I usually price items on Amazon and Rock Auto to see who's the cheapest, but I just purchased this on Amazon. It was less than $20 and free shipping :)
@@farmboysgarage7595 Thanks that's what I bought but the old was so rusted I couldn't get them off plus laying on my back. I sent them back to Rock Auto & got a refund.
I have a 2007 Kia Sorento and when I pulled on the handle I heard something drop to the bottom of the door inside it. In any case the door won't open but you can pull on the handle. I wonder what fell inside the door? This happened to anyone?
Thank you so much. The Kia dealership wanted $300 just for the parts, not including installation. We bought new handles online and will be using this to do it ourselves! 😊
It's much easier to get the door panel back on if you go ahead and pop off the speaker panel also. It just pops off. Thanks for the video!

Mom’s got an 06’ Kia Sorento
Parts were purchased from rockauto.com
Took about 2 hours for one handle (don’t judge me)
& I didn’t drop the boats!
@@johnathannnnn That's great Johnathon! It always takes longer for the first one, I bet the other one took less than 30 minutes :)
Glad it helped! Thanks for the comment!

Excellent tutorial and easy to follow steps!! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge! You saved me over $300!
I’m thinking about changing my handle myself 😵💫🥴 praying your video helps 🙌🏾

This helped me out a ton. I had to replace the driver side front handle also. Got the part cheap and this video made it a easy fix. Thank you!
Glad it helped James!
James, I have same issue, where did you get the door handle from?
@@Hoodiepodcast I ordered mine on amazon, it was under $20.
I got mine from e~bay. same price, free shipping and did the left rear first now to the left front. a great tutorial...
a 'tip' to not lose the screw... a small bit of electric tape placed into the 10mm socket...
THanks! Paid $45 for new handle and about an hour of my time to do it right.

I hate removing door panels. So easy to not quite get things back in perfectly. Will have to give it a go. Thanks for the video

Very very helpful, man! Thanks for taking the time to make and upload it.
Thanks for posting! I have the same model and same problem. Saved me a huge headache!
You're welcome Mike! Glad it helped!
Common sense can fix about anything. Some can't put a cob handle on a file. You're as handy as a pocket on a shirt. Nice job.
Haha, thanks Joe!

Thanks Wyatt! I guess she's just happy to get it back to working. If it was mine, I'd put all new chrome handles on it :)

Good work on that there door you done did. Now I got a good idea of what I'm up against...... Thank you very much.

Great job to the point I’m doing same thing but I actually painted the handle to match thanks for video Farm boys garage
Thanks! I would've painted it too if it were mine ;)

Not sure Adam, I wonder if it's hitting something in the door? I'm not very familiar with Kia's
