Saw these guys in Las Vegas on Friday and this song tore the house down. They ended with “Highway Tune” but “The Weight of Dreams” is THE perfect song to end a show. Watching this young man lay into his solo in front of a stadium of people warmed my heart and brought a tear to my eye.
He is unbelievable tbh I can’t name a single person around his age that is near his level. Granted, I haven’t seen that many new ones these days. If anyone has suggestions, lmk!
We don’t have enough bands with big ass guitar solos! Thankyou GVF for taking us back to the good ole days, real instruments, real singing, real passion.
Old dude here and great to see Greta Van Fleet rocking and kicking arse with their unique sound. Make me feel young again and transports me way back. Cool band no doubt. Peace.
Just got the chance to see them last night, it was my first time ever listening to this song when they played it live. I was not prepared for what felt like a 10 min guitar solo. Incredible band, excited to see where they go
I’ll never stop coming back to this vid. The reason I became a fan! I remember this girl I was talking to at the time told me to check them out cause I love rock, I listened to a few songs and was like yeah these are nice and then I got sent this at work. I had two screens so I’d hide my YT videos on one side 🤣 I remember when the solo hit, I started at my screen for 12 minutes straight in disbelief. Greta is so talented all around but Jake is the fu**ing man
Dude SAME I just bought 2 pit tickets to one of their shows next year and that was the best $670 I've EVER spent. The venue is MASSIVE which is why the price was so steep but its my best friends favorite band and I couldn't buy nosebleeds for that >:))
Don't come close to the MIGHTY ZEP. So glad I grew up with all the best bands in the world. There's no competition for Greta . No other bands out there but them
Es lo que esperaba desde hace muchos años que saliera un grupo de rock de estas dimensiones y con una canción fantástica. Me siento orgulloso como si fuera integrante de este tremendo grupo. Mil gracias Greta Van Fleet. El rock nunca muere!
Just responded to a forum post claiming the last Guitar Hero is gone with the death of Jeff Beck. With all due respect to JB, Jake has something to say on the matter of whether there are any Guitar Heroes left...
Where are all the commenters who were negative on the Highway Tune video? Very strange. Highway tune is very led zep and that song was written a long time ago. Those commenters need to start hearing all their stuff.
I noticed that too, it's bizarre. I feel like someone must have shared that particular video in a group that hates GVF or something because it has a suspicious amount of dislikes and negative comments compared to everything else!
This song sounds a lot like achilles last stand. Its great and my favorite led zeppelin song but the main chord progression of the weight of dreams way too close to the solo section of achilles last stand for comfort. In other words, we're still here, we (mostly) love GVF music. We just want them to acknowledge the obvious led zep influence and be on with it
@@woahman-zg1xqbut they have acknowledged it, over and over! they've never, ever denied the zeppelin influence, and have expressed a ton of love and respect for zep. but that isn't their only influence, which is obvious the more you listen to their music, and they haven't plagiarized anything (which can't be said for zep). I don't know what people want from them. should they have to give a speech every time they get up on stage and say "DISCLAIMER: we're heavily influenced by led zeppelin"? if that's the case, why shouldn't we demand that every three-chord punk band who was influenced by the ramones and sex pistols do the same, then? it's just so silly. people have created a total double standard for this band when they are merely playing music based on their influences, just like every other one on earth. is it more obvious than most? maybe. but it's really no different.
@@catchinglooks yeah i did some research after i posted my comment im not so mad anymore cuz they did acknowledge and everything u said. Yeah ppl need to stop being mad
Good to see these guys are still together and playing. Although somewhere I’ve heard this before. In a dream my memory is stored. The guitar riff is familiar to me. I just have to remember from where. Definitely heard it somewhere before. I like their drummer a lot. He’s good!
Jake played this riff for years before the battle at gardens gate came out, they never had it as a record song but rather a concert piece… they just added it to the new album as a proper send off for the last track… maybe you heard it in an old live performance video of theirs? :)
My fav gvf song until I heard weight of dreams was Black smoke rising. Truth be told, I loved them coz these guys used real instruments and brought back the rock feel. Their songs were 7/10 compared to rock gods like beatles, lz, stones, pf. But this song, the weight of dreams is where these guys truly have done something to be in the field of comparison with rock legends of 60,70,80s. I am not comparing them but this song is truly a great song no matter what the era. This song would be considered a great rock song even in the 70s, the best period of rock.
From the very beginning, Josh don’t even look like he’s trying, and he’s NAILING those high notes like it’s absolutely nothing. I’m so amazed considering the debut was not THAT high. He may have unexplored ranges we’ve never seen with men. Can’t wait for new album and hopefully visit Amsterdam or Dublin and see them live this fall.
Dammit Jake! I wish I could have been in this venue for this song. This show. Even on video you can feel the electric atmosphere. And Jake certainly must have. That guitar singing lead!! It is so wonderful to see a crowd, especially a young crowd, that is embracing this instrument. It has really been missing for the last 40 years or so. And this man will make you weep, sing, and celebrate- to name just a few of the emotions he transmits through that Gibson. More, more, more!!! 😳🎶🤗💕🔥🔥😂 ✌💖 & 🤝.
Damn! How great was that! The sad thing is that people have gone to see a band they love and spend so much time holding up their phones rather than just being totally in the moment. Thanx for this upload.
The concert toe-tap: Live at the red rock amphitheatre: Act 3 on youtube is without a doubt the best version of this song they have ever done. Not even Jake himself is able to do it again.
My favorite part of this song is at 11:03 when he throws his hair back and goes wild! So sexy, and he knows it, it's his thing now ! Jakey looks directly at the crowd at the end, AWESOME! The guys are starting to open up, I saw Danny look up once, that's something, this guy is getting massive, yum yum !
K, I am a huge GVF fan! Have heard this song over a hundred times…. I have not really watched much of the live concert videos for the new album yet……HOLY FUCK a that was good!

I love how Jake’s absolutely ripping his solo up but the crowd goes nuts when the tambourine man breaks out the tambourine
Give the people what they want!

Best GVF song ever!!!!
Yet
Really close with Heat Above
Stardust chords too
Honestly their newest album has some of the best songs I’ve heard imo(I’m new to rock). But seriously this album is Incredible.
This is probably one of their best live performances ever. Jake was on fire that night! Thanks for sharing!
Me and my girlfriend went to the show in Atlanta... it was one of the best moments of my life. Man I love this band
That solo gives me chills every single time. Danny's drumming is so next level on this one!
Crazy that this is only the 4th or 5th time playing this masterpiece live. Keeps getting better and tighter every time I hear it 👍👍
only the 4th or 5th time playing live ? what about Black Flag Exposition?
@@wintersherry9867 since they recorded the album version with these lyrics the tighter solo

Praise the guitar. Praise the singer, praise the drummer and give a medal to the bassist. That's the instrument giving this vibe to that song.
God I’d kill to see them play this live probably my favorite song of theirs
