Setting the beat or balancing a clock!

In this video we will show how you set the beat on a clock. Some say balance and some say setting the beat. Both mean the same thing. The Hermle movement will be put up for sale on our ebay store in the next few days. I will add a link when it is listed.

Can you show what is being done on the arbor when you push the pendulum to one side.
Mine is very loose and it gets out of beat constantly.
What should I do ?

I have an alaron clock that knocks when running. It will knock for a while then tick properly then knock. I checked the clock is in beat and the pendulum is not hitting anything. I am at a loss here. Maybe escape wheel?. It however keeps perfect time. Less pendulum swing does not change noise at all.

It might be the pendulum wire bouncing on the pendulum leader. That is just a guess without seeing the movement.
