    Cities that I've built in:. (I'll add a couple that I like, but haven't built in and some I hate.)
    Duvencrune:. One of my main bases. As you stated, Horse taming and I honestly like the aesthetic and feel of it. Plus I'm a fan of mountains and dragons. Also, lending to Duvencrune is that it does have some nice houses in it as well (some of them is on par with the larger Heidel houses.)...some of the best designed houses and it really has a nice soundtrack that fits it. Plus, to me....in a world filled with monsters, battles and massive bandit camps, it's location and design just makes sense....A walled mountain area, far away from most things and difficult to get there on foot. It would be a pain to lead an army up to Duvencrune to try to assail it. In short, it makes the most sense to me, design-wise of all the cities.
    Grana:. My other main city. I really love the aesthetics here also, and the way it also gently merges with nature. It has the biggest house in the game, so although Duvencrune is my main city with an extremely good house, the best house is located at Grana...and I consider it my vacation manor as a result.
    Heidel:. Central location. One of the biggest houses. Did I mention it's central? At various points, you WILL cross Heidel. So it makes sense to have a residence here. House wise, Heidel 9-4 is the first large house you have access to, and it will remain one of the largest houses in the game. Oh. Did I mention it's central? Enough said.
    Calpheon....I may have misspelled this:. I come near this city often enough to purchase a nice house in it. Most of its houses are on the small size though. The city itself is large, fortified and it does one of the best jobs of feeling like an actual city. Some things aesthetically don't make sense, regarding it's surroundings, but it's definitely a very useful city to have a hub at.
    Veila:. Tutorial house for a quest, but not a bad location. Fairly central and by a port. Also, quite a few quests and events do happen by or near Veila, allowing it to remain an important location, despite being a beginner area.
    ________________________________
    Extra shoutouts:. Epheria port. A nice port town, has a nice feel to it. You have to go through a literal battle a few yards from Calpheon to get to it, but it is a nice little location and anyone involved primarily with sea-life should acquaint themselves with this location. (I can't speak on the houses here....just the aesthetics.)
    Island ports.... You're far away from civilization and far away from most monsters (as far as how realistic the world is...not everyone is a strong adventurer like us afterall. Small little towns and I can see people may choose to live here.
    ----------_____________________-----------
    The ones I don't like....
    Alttinova,... A maze. Most of its houses are small. For a higher end area, it's got wooden Palisades. It does a good job of feeling like a city though and it does have a nice aethetic. Alttinova is the gate town before....
    Valencia....let me say first that the city is beautiful. It's well defended....because who's sending an army through the desert of Valencia. And many aspects near it are unique to it. It also is a city that doesn't make sense .... And honestly it would starve out. It's a large scale city in the middle of the desert, surrounded by lions and elephants. Their crops would be trampled and their trade routes attacked. Also, it's Valencia, so it's the biggest pain to get to and the Valencia 2 questline was the worst experience I had in this game...to the point that I refuse to ride through it, even now. When I came through, it was during the oasis....now that the desert is back in full bloom, I want nothing to do with it. I haven't been back to Valencia since I returned to the game. I will only go to Valencia by airship or boat. There is a side path I know to get to Valencia, and even that is annoying. I just don't like Valencia.

    I live in Velia. I feel like it's the most versatile location in the entire game. Plus I own the 5 Contribution Point house as a residence with it fully decorated, moving elsewhere would be hugely time consuming.

    Greetings from Duvencrune! Interesting points you got about why to settle at Duvencrune. Tho I personally pick it as my home city when Dreighan was released, just because I love mountains and architecture of that city. Basically each city has its uses and you will use them all in most cases not just one, even though your mind set will be geared towards picking ONE when you first start out, work to get out of that mind set. Calph has amazing storage. Velia and port ephiria are bartering, and velia is enhancing still I think. Heidel is central. Kama iis near the best afk fishing spot in the game and some important mobs for grinding. Altanova isn't used for anything specifically except like manufacturing grunil a long time ago, because sand grain is much preferred for desert grinding and valencia is where stuff goes if you use maids in the desert or if you are trading. My biggest tip would be if you don't want to be locked down to one city, keep 20-50 contribution points free. It comes in handy a lot actually because you can purchase a house, use it once, and then sell it again instead of putting down roots and it makes every city feel like your home city as far as cooking and alchemy and stuff go.

    When you say "setting up a base" it does sound like work. Its so easy to get storage space. The real pain is the logistics that comes with the storages later. Knowing what stuff is where and how to easy get a hold of it. ^^
    Also getting a decent house with nice furniture in it, is much more work actually. Even if such things are not really rewarded by the game unfortunately. Rank 1 houses are usually just ugly because they are stuffed with tons of the same cash shop items. I hope some day they give us a nice rewarding system for beautifully furnished houses.

    • @jhmi7877
      @jhmi7877 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I want this too. Not sure how they'll be able to tell which houses just have hundreds of chandeliers versus ones that are actually nicely laid out.

    • @CasmirJeyss
      @CasmirJeyss 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jhmi7877 Well I thought about that too. Warning - Long text incoming!^^
      So... You can't do it with the current point system. We would need a second one. One that would count the ID's of the different items. There are a ton of quest and crafting furnitures in the game. They look nice and help building a real house but they don't give many points for the old system. But the more you have in one house they would give like "design points" or something. The system calculates the variety of items you have placed and penalizes every item that is used more than maybe twice or so. Also the building size should count then. A small house with many different items give more points than a large house with the same amount, because theres more space to fill. Downside is... you can still just throw the stuff in the house without arranging them properly. But it would punish those who buy 50 times the same chandelier to fill the house. That way they may have a rank 1 house for the special node but no points for design.
      So short: Keep the old system for the cash shop freaks. But give us also a design system for rewarding us for the variety of items we collect during the adventure and show others in our houses.^^

    • @jhmi7877
      @jhmi7877 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CasmirJeyss I like this! I think the design concept works out well, and it would put more value on the items we obtain and craft in game as opposed to getting most of the points through the cash shop. I'd like to see maybe some kind of resting buff based on your design points too. I know we already have those through certain items, but perhaps there's something that could be added. Can't think of anything atm but I'm sure there is!

    • @CasmirJeyss
      @CasmirJeyss 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jhmi7877 When it comes to rewards I'm not sure. It shouldn't be too much, so people can't complain. And they always complain. ;)
      I still think you can't really do much in your house. Cooking, alchemy, processing (but not as good as at the storage keeper), sleeping or maybe reading a book from the shelf (honestly who does this?). So in the end you don't spend much time there unless you do one of these things.
      Since I have more than one beautiful furnished house (imo^^), you should get at least some points for the family fame or something. I also can think of a crafting or processing buff while at home. Or for every set count of points you get a permanent Life-Exp Buff while in the house. Or while you cook/alchemy you get a small mastery boost. I can think of a lot of things. But they just must not be too good or the system will be broken. Balancing would be the biggest problem with that I guess.
      Don't know... maybe I should suggest that to them somewhere.

    • @jhmi7877
      @jhmi7877 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CasmirJeyss Agreed. I wouldn't want anything too great either. More of like just a side bonus. I like the fame aspect of it, as it fits with that theme I think. Giving a small boost to alch./cooking in the house I think is fair too. That would then make it so people would arrange their house in a usable way, versus just cramming stuff in it XD
      Definitely think it would be a great suggestion :)

    Great video, couple of points though: Altinova is great if you're into gathering rocks over at pilgrim's, i usually drop off my junk there before/after rock gathering and move on to Calpheon which is the main city i use for alchemy because it has access to so much storage and lodging. Altinova also has the advantage of having access to plenty of good nodes, having cheap housing options and being the place where i make silver embroidered clothes. You also mention that the new region is the only place where you can make master matchlocks which is wrong, you can set up a workshop in duvencrune as well which is what i use.
    I'm pretty much all over the place though, I use Velia as my main storage city, i have the storage there completely maxed out and all the enchanting/cooking stuff goes in there. I use olvia as my hunting/imperial box city. And i have duvencrune to craft advanced stations and of course for storing horses. Calpheon is where my main residence is, it's got a nice view and it's only 1 CP, I'm very stingy with my CP usage ;c

    I'm new to the game and I've been tearing up your channel. I'm so grateful. You've been such a huge help.
    I have a season character level 58 Striker and I just finished both Valencia questlines. I've invested storage space in Heidel but now I'm currently trying to plan out my residences since we're only allowed to own 5 of them. I'd like to share what I have planned out. I'd appreciate some insight and feedback from anyone.
    Valencia - Other than the practical reasons you mentioned in this video, I also just love the design, appearance, and culture of this place. It reminds me of Sunspear and the Martells.
    Heidel - If I'm using this as a central storage point, I figure I should own a residence here as well.
    Tarif - It's not very practical but I really just want to own something in Mediah which I'm quite fond of from the appearance and story. Tarif is such a small charming and quaint village which I find so appealing. I want something here for superficial reasons.
    Duvencrune - I've never been here yet but I love the biome (trees and mountains). I'll definitely have a good look in and around this place.
    ISLAND - I'd love to own a house on some island just coz.

    I was set up in Heidel like everyone else, but I find it very crowded and often have to camp for Imperial cooking turn in to get my boxes in. I moved to Calpheon where it is easier to set up 10 farms together, not as crowded, and Imperial turn in is much easier without having to server hop 2652765 times. Calpheon also has a few long paths to horse train when not tending farms or cooking. also with a fast horse its literally 60 seconds from Heidel if need be. Another great video as always, but is missing one thing.... hmmmm.. oh yea, the headband.

      I know this is old and I don't think anyone replied but I'm a big fan of EDUH videos as a newish player too. Others can correct me if I'm wrong but he uses any particular city as his home base depending on what life skill he is focusing on for the time being. He's changed cities over time again depending on his focus. For new/newish players I think the video above does a good job of summarizing what city you should set up with (Calpheon for cooking as an example). But you really can't go wrong with Velia and you can multiple residences. For example I use Velia as my central storage/dumping ground for gear, enhancement materials and general stuff. My new alts can then pick up anything they need there. My more advanced gear is stored in Heidl for whenever I want to swap stuff out. I was also using Heidl to get my housing score up but think I'll be moving my interior stuff to Grana. Calpheon I use as my cooking HQ. Duvencrume is my fishing HQ and I'll probably base my Alchemy station there someday. And like I said Grana will be for interior decoration and storage for grinding Polly's forest, etc. Hope that helps as an example.

    I have had a home in Calpheon, and Heidel, and after about a month I left Caltheon to barely ever go back. I am a Lifeskiller and just preferred the convenience of Heidel over the big city.

    • @stankobarabata2406
      @stankobarabata2406 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As someone who actually moved from Heidel to Calpheon for Crating and Trading, since Heidel is considered too inefficient and I'm both too low level for Grana in general and I don't want to live so far away from things yet and especially a port since I want to barter too and Port Epheria with it's maxxed out shipyards is right there , I've found Calpheon much more convenient if you actually want to make shit yourself. Plus when it comes to sheer variety, it pretty much outmatches nearly every other zone. Since I want to trade - I can make virtually crates for any kind of stock, and sell them at a constant profit because I spend nothing on this either way, and with good workers you can make daily trips consistently and make good profit.
      But it requires a lot of contribution, and I personally just invest in other cities where I can get stuff with minimal c points to get extra shit and then transport the goods to calph at the end of the day.
      It's a middleman's living spot, in a way. You want to not spend a lot of cash, you want to make most stuff yourself, and you also don't want to be so far away from anything else like world bosses.
      I like it a lot, good little spot. Maybe I'll move on for the future, but right now? Calph's treating me real good.

    Thanks for the video. I’ve been playing this game on and off for 3 years and I just barely got to Kamasylvia and Grána. I just got to 180 AP a few days ago but the time to get there was definitely not worth it. They made the progression system so horribly tedious and overly expensive that I’m honestly surprised anyone still plays this.
    The combat is fun but the fact that it takes years to get anywhere makes it boring.
    Any advice on how to get better weapons faster or armor faster? I’ve heard of legendary people in the 300 AP range but I’ve never heard of or spoken to anyone in any Guilds that know how to do it. Everyone is stuck around 200 AP/DP and lower. It seems like the Devs have locked off huge parts of the game. Some places on the map recommend over 200 AP but nobody can ever get there. Maybe they’re only open in Korean servers?

    • @jhmi7877
      @jhmi7877 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have guild mates that have 270~ AP and they've been playing a lot for 2 years. So I do agree that the progression from AP of late 100s and beyond is incredibly steep. There are some guides out there for getting higher gear for more AP through bosses and such. However, instead of enhancing and grinding for gear on your own, you can just go on the money route. Because of the changes they made to lifeskills, there's avenues of making a lot of money real easily. Still needs effort of course, but not so darn tedious. So make money, then buy better gear off the market.
      I'm personally going on this route through bartering.
