      It definitely needed some boost on power ;-)

      @@GroundControlRC I’m starting a twin engined cub with my other xk a160 cub. Going with 2 small 10 amp esc stowed in the nose cowl for weight and cooling. The engines are mounted just inboard of the first strut. I’ll run the same 900 mah battery in that model.

    With your engineering skills and building talent, the model companies should take notice of your modifications and manufacture the models that way in the first place. Well done!

    Watched your whole series on this plane and it appears you've tweaked it to your style and liking. I'm a scale guy back to the 70's and I'm going to work towards achieving slow flight and lazy aerobatics like the prototype flys. Had a fueler "P51 Cub" years ago but I'd like to just make this one fly as scale as I can. Lighter and maybe some wing warping to attain some washout. The Eflite UMX Timber is fully capable of all out aerobatics while slowing to a walk to land, zero tip stalling. Its my go to "wind plane" to boot! Maybe I can get this J3 to do a little "scalin'", its just too cool looking to not try! Thanks for all the good information!

      Thanks for the kind words. My Favorite Factory Plane so far is the Fun Cub 1100mm Kit. It exhibits all the traits you just spoke of. Very slow flight, very aerobatic, and I have yet to have a tip stall. I'm going to have to take it back out soon. Awesome Plane ;-)

    You fly better than you ice-walk (teasing). I should talk. My feet have barely touched snow. Burned them many times walking on too-hot beach sand though.
    Those landing gear snow-ski's are looking more and more tempting ;-) Nice flying.
    Delay from BG in getting my parts for the second parts-built A160. I hope to have a UMX Timber receiver for the RTF soon. Ordered one but the wrong RX was sent.
    New motor test coming up really soon.
    The California Governor has lifted the statewide "Quarantine at home" order, so now if Santa Clara County does likewise then maybe I can finally get some air time.
    Happy flying!

      Hehehe....I drove down that dirt road and had no idea it was that slick ;-) I nearly fell on my Bum twice just recovering the Plane. On top of that, we got another 2.5 inches of snow yesterday and I'm going to try to get out there to fly today. I need some crampons ;-) That really sucks not being able to fly. I would be going completely bonkers! When the restriction is lifted you are certainly going to have a lot of different projects in the air. Good luck and I hope to see you in the air soon ;-)

      You might check any make sure you don't have any trim input on the throttle stick.
      Also make sure the motor turns freely.
      Check that your control surfaces move when you move the sticks so you know it's bound to the TX.

      @GroundControlRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andy! Thank you much! Yes, even though I had already cutout some foam to move the battery forward and added nose weight, this Plane was still very tail heavy. I couldn't tell until I put it in Full Manual Mode. It was still so tail heavy it would stall on launch. Once the CG was set properly the stalls were no longer an issue and the cuffs no longer required. I'm very happy with it now ;-) See you in the Air!

      Andy blades check and see on yours I just noticed on mine that in 3g mode the elevator goes up automatically as throttle is added In 6g mode the elevator goes up about 15-20 degrees up when it’s supposed to be neutral. I had to adjust my elevator control rod about 6 turns in to get the elevator into a neutral position in 6g. Hope it helps because I know it was causing me problems with stalling. In 3g I’d try to power out the stall not knowing elevator was being added. Then I’d switch to 6g and the elevator jumps up to 15-20 degrees up. Check yours and see

    My plane put his nose up and almost stall when trottle goes above 50%....what you think is the problem....too high motor angle or too high wing insidence angle?

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alex! The biggest problem with this Plane is it's extremely Tail Heavy. The first time I launched it in complete Manual Mode it would nose up and stall on launch. See where your Plane balances. I now have mine balanced 31mm from the Leading Edge of the Wing and it flies well at that CG.

      @@alexherrera3918 , Hard to tell, but I would look at the Motor angle if it's flying nice an level at cruising speed and just noses up when increasing throttle. A lot of planes will climb a bit when increasing throttle because of high angle of incidence of the wing but it shouldn't be a real abrupt nose up condition.

    • @Doggeslife
      @Doggeslife 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alexherrera3918 If you can say what the plane is it would be easier to try to find an answer for you. Some RC planes are designed to cruise at half throttle and climb at higher speeds. There is no one solution that suits all airplanes.

      @@Doggeslife . I did not have any cub, so i used the body of a Slowly V2 and swap the original slow under camber wings to a flat KFM3 (1 meter wing) , it was my first one so it is not the nice looking one. If I am not mistaken i measure the wing angle about 6 degrees on the plans ....so i will try first to out a ice cream stick under the lower part os the wing to take off some of that angle of the wing. If that does not work then i will try to add an angle to the motor.
      My plane is a bit larget than the origial i think.
