As someone who has both I don’t know how anyone can argue Tudor is in the same ballpark as Omega. The finishing, the moments the design. Omega is head and shoulders above Tudor.

I like Tudor, but I am starting to dislike them. Similarly, I love Omega, but I would hate for them to be anything like Rolex. Rolex is a branding excercise for people who desperately need external validation. Omega makes nice watches without games and BS.

Tudor has METAS now. In house movements,, great bracelets and clasps, expanding their model range, and are even testing precious metal out: all coming in at a great value for dollar spent. Meanwhile Omega keeps increasing prices every year.
An Omega now costs two times Tudor when Tudor gives you a very similar product now. Omega needs to do something or else.

    • @MasterChronometer

@@fj7509 Tudor movements are less impressive than the ETAs they replaced and ugly, Tudor case finishing and design is as also basic as it gets.
Omega movements actually look nice and have things like the coaxial escapement which is unique to them. The 8900 has twin main spring barrels. If you haven’t already try on some Tudors and Omegas and you’ll see the difference.

Tudor and Omega are going to stay right where they are on the totem pole until they release new IPs and stop centering their collection around one (or two) particular models. Omega has the capability to be innovative (Chrono Chime probably being a latest example), however when they do so, they’re still going to play it safe by always pertaining new works to the Speedmaster. But come on! At the least these guys can design something like a micro rotor to give us something new to look at through a case back while slimming down their cases! Anyways, I suggest your next “versus” video should be what we all really wanna see… MVMT VS INVICTA!
P.S. My Omega is worn every Tuesday as opposed to my Pink BB Chrono and I am in love with that piece. However at the end of the day, the Speedmaster is the Speedmaster and it is just a better watch.

I think Tudor is absolutely what Rolex used to be several decades ago. For example, I specifically remember the late 1980s and early 90s when you could buy a Rolex Submariner for a tiny fraction of the price they go for now days. And I say that factoring in wages, inflation, etc. As a result, it made Rolex so much more accessible to watch lovers back in those days. All that being said, I agree Tudor is not on the same level as Omega (at least not right now), but they are doing some great things. And I love my Tudor BB Monochrome 41. It may not be comparable to a new Sub, but it's a fantastic watch at a fraction of the price. And it's probably as close to the design language of a Rolex Sub as we're ever going to get.

On the other hand I own or have owned over two dozen Omegas. I like their variety, quality and styles… however I completely agree with you and sincerely hope that they somehow take your advice to heart regarding their steady march upwards in price. Summer blue ultra deep is so dope! Good points, especially that Omega better be careful with that price creep as Tudor is nipping at its heels. But I think swatch group uses its other brands (like Tissot, Mido, etc.) as the more affordable entry level options, reserving Omega for the high end (for those who love and appreciate heritage and technical excellence, with the additional prestige just reflecting that). Tudor and Rolex are more like Seiko and Grand Seiko or Toyota and Lexus; appreciating the quality of the former can, but need not, drive you toward the higher-end prestige of the latter, and there is probably less of a difference between them on sheer technical specs than most people recognize, but still a big gap in prestige. Whether both keep creeping up in price will depend on the global economy and what happens to the middle class, who are the ones buying most of their bread and butter options. (Poor people think Rolex is a rich person's brand, but for the most part it really isn't.). I own Omega and Rolex but not (yet!) Tudor...

OMEGA and TUDOR serve two slightly different markets. Tudor makes a more tool type watch. Omega also makes tool watches and some of the most beautiful dress watches out there. IMHO Omega is better finished, dressier and has the better of the two in-house movements. The Omega has as high a level of fit and finish as Rolex. Tudor is more toned down, more brushed as opposed to polished in its finishing. The Tudor movements are also excellent but Omega finishes their movements and certifies them to a higher degree of accuracy. TBH I like them both equally as they serve different purposes. You can’t go wrong with either one if they appeal to your personal taste.

No it's not, it's not far superior, watch for watch one is just slightly better.

I own no watches from either brand, but I could imagine having a collection of only five or six Tudor watches, and not feeling that anything was missing. BB39, BB Heritage Red Bezel, Royal Chocolate, 1926, BB Bronze… perhaps I’ve not gotten deep enough in the weeds with Omega, but Tudor has always resonated with me.

I owned and enjoyed the Tudor blackbay 58 until i acquired the Omega 300m. The Tudor is a good watch but the Omega diver just blows the blackbay away.......oh except for the bezel action but who really cares too much about that?

Most Omega models are "heavy hitters", whereas most Tudors are not.

In my opinion they are pretty similar in terms of quality with Omega being a step above. That being said, Tudors are usually more wereable and age better. Modern Omegas look dated in just a few years. Especially the seamaster with the weird hands, the horrible looking bracelet, the waves on the dial and the valve esape. Too many things going on that make the watch not look clean at all and make you get tired of it.

Black date wheel on a grey dial looks bad on that Omega IMO.

What Tudor need to do is get rid of those awful , fragile , scratchable and fading aluminium bezel and replace it with a fine brushed or matte ceramic bezel ( like in the pelagos and the new pelagos FXD GMT ) . the pelages FXD GMT has the best Tudor bezel to date with the fully limes matte ceramic bezel . The matte ceramic is the best of both worlds , the matte finish appealing and fitting into the vintage inspired vibe of Tudor plus giving us the durability , scratch resistance and non fading advantages of ceramic !

Awesome video, Bruce. I don’t dispute folks saying Omega quality is better, it def is. But the fact remains that a ton of people don’t see it that way because so many of Tudor’s designs are superior and Omega’s look like toys.

Tudor and Omega are not in the same conversation. Tudor are both boring and ugly as hell. Now granted, that's a subjective opinion. But what's not subjective is the Omega are way ahead on movement, finishing, history and brand. Omega certainly are not perfect, and though I'm a big fan there's certainly much you can be critical of with them. But comparing them to Tudor is just wrong. Absolutely sick of hearing about Tudor from EVERY watch youtuber going. Sorry, they are not that great in my opinion. A brand like Longines gives you far better history and more interesting watches for better value.

Omega is overpriced and over hyped. They should be priced competitively with Tudor, which has more class as well. All the movie and marketing BS lowers Omega's desirability to me.

Omega is in between Tudor and Rolex although they are definitely underperforming with the history and brand recognition they have. Terrible bezel action on all the divers and thick cases along with poor bracelets and clasps let the brand down. They certainly need to replace many models rather than constantly tweaking old ones while cutting the catalogue in half. Tudor are improving year on year but they are essentially retro Rolex homages. Both brands have ramped up prices much too much.

Tudor is now starting to put a Tfit on their bracelet. Omega is not listening to its customers. Omega lume is subpar and top heavy. Tudor is starting to make thinner watches. I have the Aqua Terra $6200 and went for four Tudors. Pelagos, Pro, opaline gmt and BB41 each alI for less than $5000. I enjoy them all but my Rolex submariner Starbucks is on another level.
