  • 1968 UH-1 Huey start up and take off at Fishers Indiana airport KUMP. Oct 2015. This Huey took about six years to fully restore and flew again back in 2010. This nights testing was part of an engine swap performed about a month ago.
IASAR is a civilian organization of retired military pilots, crew chiefs, and mechanics flying out of KUMP (Fishers Indiana). Currently we have one 1968 UH-1 Huey and one 1952 H-13 Sioux (Bell 47G) flight worthy. We are in the process of restoring two additional Huey's.
IASAR (Indiana Air Search and Rescue) is a civilian, volunteer faith based 501(c)3 Non-Profit charity dedicated to provide Air Relief, Aircraft Rescue & Preservation, Education and Support to our community: and honor to the military and all Veterans. IASAR a civilian group funded through donations. With those donations, IASAR is a part of American History that helps educate youth, future aviators, history buffs and others by flying into school, community and military veteran’s events, parades and corporate events. IASAR hosts public and private events at the Indy Metro Airport (KUMP). These special fly-ins ensure that the Huey and other warbirds will not be forgotten. IASAR’s Huey, 68-16563, served four tours of duty in Vietnam: the US Army’s 1/9, 1/10th, 2/20th Air Cavalry and the 117th “Warlords” Air Assault Divisions from 1969-71. Request aircraft appearances or to make donations on the web at www.IASAR.org for more information.

I have the greatest respect and awe for those who flew those ships with grunts on board to an LZ in Nam. Flew in them stateside as an RSO at Ft. Campbell early 80's. I helped clear the range for my Redeye and Vulcan battery (the only one in the Army) which was undergoing their annual qualification firings. It took a long time to do the range sweep. Lol! Flying in a Huey doesn't get old!!!

Hmmm N2 @ 30 seconds... nice compressor... I have goose bumps big enough to trip over! How I'd love one of the old Aussie girls to be restored. A2-377 was my favorite and I only swung spanners.... Miss those times so much.

Surprising that they brought her back and didn't leave her behind as many were left in Vietnam.

The papers didn't add up so the company that overhauled gave us a temporary engine with proper paper work until our engine paper work meets requirements.
