    I saw this conversation posted in Pantheon Discord and came here to listen. I am first just amazed that Joppa (and Nephele) even did this, can't imagine ANY other Creative Director willing to subject himself to such a grilling. But you guys were respectful and polite, even if you were a little brutally honest with your points at times. And as other commenters have pointed out, I learned a LOT from this, so thank you very much. I would have liked the ability to know who was talking at any given time, but understand that would have been very hard to do, perhaps impossible. I subscribed and liked, please keep up the good work.

    I don't know who set this up or if it was live streamed and I missed it, but I'm subscribed now.I got more useful information and game conversation in this hour and a half than I ever have in the 6 years I've been following this game. Thank you so much for sharing this and I hope more like this is coming in the future

    Playing a rogue until EA and this patch hurt us bigly. Damage is close to half what it was. "Stats are scaling now" then they're not scaling at the same level as we were performing before the patch. Stealth is also virtually useless as greys are the only ones that ignore us, as greys do for everyone.

      They need to fix rogues.. they killed all the things that made it enjoyable.. backstab, traps/cc, stealth, dmg

    I like the idea of strength determining damage and the weapon is the modifier. +1 damage. +2 damage. Lower speed for auto attack damage. Stat buff. parry bonus. Special ability procs, like life drain. 2-h weapons would just be a little higher damage than one handed. But it needs to be enough that your auto attacks AND ability attacks do more damage for giving up a shield.

      Alot of damage scaling will be tweaked in the next itemization patch, along with the introduction of increasing character stats per x number of levels. On top of that masteries will eventually come back in to play which will help a ton. Thanks for the comment and I agree about the stats.

    Everquest’s items are so good because you can easily use them for many levels, so you feel like you've really uncovered a treasure when you get a good one. I really dislike upgrade all your gear every 10 levels. I actually think EQ2 got it right where the best items were drops, but the best crafted items were pretty good. There is always more joy in a rare drop than a crafted item.

    I like the idea of just getting started and crafting your own gear to level and explore while learning your class. But ultimately the best gear is dropped by doing group content. These discussions are awesome to hear as a regular player.

    I pledged and enjoyed playing pledged access until Dec 1st. I want the game to succeed it's why I'm so against Early Access in the current state. The changes being made are drastic swings and going to be in early access without testing. This game is more Beta than Early Access. I will 100% be playing on day one of Early Access and will 100% understand all the negative ratings it will receive on Steam.

      Fair enough! I understand the concern and the line of thinking and appreciate it. There is definitely going to be a strong bite from some in the community but I also believe there is going to be a whole lot of support from others. At the end of the day this game is meant to be niche and many aren't going to make their home here. That's ok! Thanks for the comment!

    Regarding gear, at least personally, I do not want to be upgrading gear every time I play. Rare and magic items should feel special like they did in classic EQ and normal gear upgrades should happen at a somewhat regular cadence but there shouldn't be an automatic expectation for it. Camping for that ultra rare piece of loot should feel special and when it drops there should be that sense of excitement and achievement. Agree though that stats and basic auto attack need to be dialed in as a first step. Items should be dialed in after at least that groundwork is complete.

    I think the main issue is that melee ttk doesn't support respawn times. Back spawn is wiping teams like crazy when they delve into dungeons like goblin caves. The ttk and respawn need to be adjusted at the same time, talking each-other into account.

      Interesting take, and possibly very accurate. My teams/groups haven't run into this issue but I'm sure others have as well. Most respawns I've observed tend to be in the 12-17minute respawn range. Thanks for the comment.

    My lv 13 DL is using the same weapon since lv 5 and my auto atk does same dmg even if my slashing skill went up 8lv make no sense

    Good talk. Regarding the buffs, we know how that is gonna work? Way back in Anarchy online you could spend hours searching for a specific buff. That kinda sucked.
    Cant wait to get into this game.

      And the number of buffs you had was limited. Someone could troll you by buffing swim speed (though it was easy enough to cancel). I loved AO but really disliked how complex the upgrade process was.

    Lvl , stats , training and skills should be where damage comes from.
    Then you could have the same gear for a very long time if not the whole life of your character.
    I know RPG/MMO's have to be able to give tangible rewards but video games all seeming to go with the 'need a new carrot ' every level or so runs contrary to most IP's and Myths/Legends it is based on. (i.e. Arthurs Excalibur or gear handed down from father to son)
    Maybe if they had mostly gold+ buffs ,blessings or access to elite or secret training instead of boss drops?
    Anyway . . .good video. Lots of info & insight from people who seem to care about the game and are respectful.

      Part of this I agree with and part I do not. I know I personally do not want to be running the same gear at 20 athat I was running at 1. Does that mean I need a whole new wardrobe handed to me? No. But items should exist for me to choose to pursue in order to upgrade my equipment and thus increase my player power. Some stats should absolutely come from leveling up, but the majority should come from equipment in my opinion. Thank you for your feedback!

    I would love for crafting and drops to both be part of the leveling process. WoW Classic's blacksmithing is an example of what NOT to do, in that most of the items you can craft are not good for the level ranges.

      The overall theme they are aiming for is for crafted items to supplement drops and more or less act as a bridge between them with the potential for some very rare schematics to produce very nice items that could be used for a long while per Joppa's stream before last.

    Will there be player wipes after the Steam launch on december 13th? My gaming computer is in storage while we work on moving...been missing out on playing recently (I backed the game like 7 years ago), but hoping to get it up and running by then. Going to be playing Cleric as my main.

      Yes, there will be player wipes for the Steam Launch, I dont have anything to quote, but I asked in game and a lot of people said there would be a wipe.

      Yes there will be at minimum a wipe prior to 1.0 launch but I expect a few more between now and then.

    The recent weapon damage nerfs are game breaking for melee damage dealers. The argument over "find named drops" is pointless when basic weapons to get you there are non-existent. The nerf on crafted gear makes it again pointless to do. Players should be able to solo trash mobs to gathering nodes etc. I have been playing a lvl 14 ranger and it felt great pre-patch. Now it feels awful like the only option is to go to play a wizard or a class that is not as gear dependent.

      Joppa did a stream just after this discussion and showed off the new itemization and item system. It looks very very solid. Sadly this patch was a massive fumble at the precisely wrong time.

    Backstab was slightly improved with the last patch, but it still feels very underwhelming to push it at level 17 with just crafted gear and my terrible 2x Outcast shivs that were turned into caster daggers, negating all the work I did to get them. "Outcast's shiv" guys that's about as rogue-like as a name can get. Please reverse that change.

    I play a 19 enc, 15 rog, and 15 wiz. I have Never looted a rare item or a item with stats. Not once! There is no sense of loot progression whatsoever and nerfing the few common drops that we have gotten to strengthen our characters just feels so bad

    i heard something that they were going to set all of the common stuff to level 1 that the common level 20 item was more powerful than the level 10 rare so that no one was looking for that level 10 rare being level 20. you can set them like level 10 common is level 10, level 10 uncommon is like level 14 and rare was like level 16 and make crafted level 18. you could also do that the level 10 common is more like level 8,12,16,18 the thing is i am reaching level 8 or 12 before getting even a level 1 complete set of armor upgraded from drops. you need to make the stuff drop a little bit more for uncommon. you need to make crafted better than drops otherwise no one will do crafting at low level because it won't be worth it. you can go each "tier" is like a +2 from base, crafted is +1 better than dropped of that tier.
    attributes should have their waterfall stats, like strength adds attack power even like 2 points of strength adds 1 point. have your levels of common like the rusted, normal, shiny. have the types of materials. the rusted does like 1 point of damage, the normal does 2, the shiny does 3 points of damage, have some of those like also change the attack speed like it starts at 10 and normal does 6 speed and shiny does 3 speed. you can put in that common doesnt really add any stats and that uncommon and rare add like stats or other stat things like casting faster, more mana etc..

    At this rate Everquest 1 remastered is going to come out before this game. I was pumped about this game 10 years ago. Not so much now

      Sorry to hear that it's a blast. I hope the EQ1 remaster comes out well and isn't anther money grab by DBG/DPS like all their previous "everquest" attempts. I know many would love that.

    I like the option to get rare mats for crafting to rival drop only gear. I hate BIS gear being raid only. Im not a sociable player and ook forward to my duo box paying off.

    It's sounds like this is going down the road of Vanguard. I really wanted EQ2025 on this game. I have been longing for it for a long time. I think Brad McQuaid stopped once he knew the code was broken. But us old-school players want this game soooooooo bad to succeed 😢 I really hope you listen to the players and put the work in. Noone ever wanted all the extra stuff, it is distracting the team to much with feature creep. Keep it simple and bug free.

      I am not sure which game you're referring to with Brad, but I don't think we are heading down a Vanguard path. Vanguard was purchased by Sony to shut it down and was sadly forced out into production long before it was ready. But I do hope they keep it simple and bug free.

    I feel like with the time it takes to craft compared to the time it takes to adventure, the crafted items should be better, but mundane. Found items, like armor or weapons from mobs should be a little worse than crafted, but uncommon and rare items from mobs, which can't be crafted, should be a little better than crafted. I would have liked to see crafting mastery, that way people could choose to specialize in crafting and craft items superior to a lot of dropped stuff.

    It's a small team with a lot on their plate. The more you guys wear that man out and bog him down, the harder it will be for him to get shit done. Voice a concern here or there, but don't impose so much.

    I followed this game for years. They changed the art to something I don't like, and the game continued to have almost no progress. Broke my heart. I play Mortal Online 2 now. Great game and my new home. It really scratches the itch for old style MMOs. No map, no fast travel, social, no instancing, realistic high fantasy art, and a whole host of other great features.

      If you get a chance to play Pantheon today you'll see it's come a LONG way. It's super fun. Anyone trying to find that EQ-like experience is going to have a blast here. It's more than nostalgia, there are some modern upgrades to the experience as well. The social aspect and group requirements is what really draws me though, I miss that the most from EQ days (and DAoC, Asheron's Call, etc).

      @@jadeon77 I don't know man I have been yelling into the wind for weeks about stats not working as a baseline function and have had NOTHING but ad homonym attacks against me. So yes with a community like that I am pretty pessimistic at this point. I have had zero discussion with people that are willing to be earnest in discussion. They treated me like a troll and I do not want the game to fail. its all so disingenuous. My only point is after 10 years we should not be at a point where basic functions like stats are not set in stone and working

      @@patrickerwin7386 I can't speak for the who you've been interacting with and I don't doubt your experience is true. There are alot of gatekeepers and white knights out there on both sides of the fence. I stream nightly with 30-70 people present and Joppa streams 2-4 times a week. We have very honest discussions about the state of the game in both of those places. We also discuss why it's in the position its in and where it's going next during those times. You aren't alone. Perhaps I should do a video similar to what Bazgrim did in the past to go over in-depth the timeline of Pantheons past to the present. I'll have to consider that. Come hang out on the stream some time though and chat with me. I'd love to discuss the game with you.

      @@patrickerwin7386 I too have been saying newbie progression has felt wonky for months, like something is missing, and the only feed back I've gotten is "we're not looking at that right now" or "we haven't come to that point in development yet" or just completely ignored.
      This video shows me that I'm not the only one that feels that way, which is encouraging, but what's tragic to me is that those of us that don't have a streaming platform or aren't known in the community are being ignored. I feel completely unheard in my views on the game and when I bring them up I get stomped on. I could name names but it does nothing to help the game move forward and be PLAYABLE and FUN.

    these children still dont understand what playing a "early access in development" game means. They get all personally offended when their items get nerfed or buffed, etc. Ya kids, things are in flux. Things will feel unsettled. THE GAME IS BEING CHANGED ALL THE TIME CUZ THATS WHAT DEVELOPMENT MEANS.... newslfash.. that character you are playing is not permanent. its not your character. those items arent real.

      The devs host these talks so that they can get feedback. If everyone sounded like you nothing in the game would ever change and it would release in a garbage state.

      @turinhorse Joppa literally says in the video several times that he agrees with their feedback. I'm guessing you aren't a tester because what these people are saying in the discussion is largely accurate. The devs agree. Joppa here also points out that the team doesn't seem to be on the same page, which he wouldn't have known without the feedback. So neither of your 3 comments disprove anything I said. Carry on.

    Static camps suck because poopsockers and gold sellers will lock them down forever unless they make it open tag where whoever hits it gets loot too

      I don't know why folks ask questions like this from random folks.
      That's a highly subjective inquiry.
      Wait til they have a trial or free weekend(no nothing is scheduled anytime soon, they're gearing up for Early Access) to try the game for yourself.
      Or buy Early Access or find a friend who is buying, they can give you a Buddy Code for Early Access.
      You have those 3 options. It is absolutely worth you playing for yourself to see if you like it.

      I played WoW through WoTLK, Main raid tank etc. I come from EQOA. Pantheon rekindles the true mmo spirit of socializing and exploring. Give it a try.

      It has some similarities to WoW, mainly how it's tab-targeting and activating skills/spells from hotkeys. But the experience is a lot more like Everquest, where you are heavily encouraged to work with others players/classes to tackle the content. There's a big social aspect to the game and it's MUCH MUCH more challenging than WoW.
      IMHO Pantheon is the best modern MMO, simply because it goes back to the roots of MMO where you need to work together. Pretty much all current MMO's are solo experiences where other players just exist, but for the vast majority of the time aren't required to do any of the content.

      If you were an old school EQ player, it's a trillion times better than WoW in many many ways.
