  • SPLITTING A CHARACTER FOR POSING (Guyver Sculpt) using the Nomad Sculpt App
    The Nomad app doesn’t have rigging. Its something we’d all like but it’s not there yet and may never be.
    There are, however, other ways to try out different poses with your 3d character. In the past we have covered ‘posing using masking’ but this video we will take a look at splitting a character for posing down into body parts, move the pivot points and then pose the character.
    To make things a bit more exciting I used my Guyver model! If you don’t know the Guyver it’s time for a treat. Get googling and watch the early seasons and be prepared to be hooked! Presuming you like decades old anime! The is a 1991 American superhero film made loosely based on the Japanese manga series of the same name by Yoshiki Takaya.The film tells of a young man, Sean Barker, who discovers an alien artifact called "The Unit" which changes Barker into an alien-hybrid super soldier called "The Guyver".

    I took a little break....and I'm back on the horse...
    AND I come back in the same week where they release iOS15 which allows users to use more than 5gig of RAM per app on their iPads! But thats the next video..
    This one is all about splitting up a Guyver model. Who remembers the Guyver ?

    Great stuff here Glen! This is a quick way to get an idea worked out while keeping the anatomy in proportion. Much faster and more flexible than sculpting to a particular pose! Glad to see these videos again!

    I spent half my day yesterday trying to figure out how to pose. Came to the same conclusion with the split tool. The pivot is great, wish I had thought of that yesterday 😅

      It was a massive influence on me. That and Gundam. More than Transformers but not as much as Battle of the Planets or Thundercats.

    Great video, Glen, thanks. 10:45 is where it all clicks.🤔 The gizmos & pivot points are a couple steps away from a basic rig…I feel it coming. Maybe not this week, but…🙏🙏🙏🍺🎩

      Yeah the pivot is the key here. And also using a pivot on multiple sections at once

    So once it’s posed can you join the parts and then sculpt the joints to look correct with symmetry off?

    This software looks amazing. I have just upgraded from 2015 1st gen iPad Pro to the M1 2021. Quite the upgrade I must say! Looking for software which takes advantage of the power.
    Would modelling skills I start learning with Nomad transfer over to something like blender (if I ever get a Wacom)?

    • @SouthernGFX
      @SouthernGFX  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure. Nomad is only a year old. I was looking for software that was easy to learn and teach and allow artists to transition up into Blender or ZBrush. Nothing is wasted.

    I'm a new user and I know this is going to sound silly but how do you exit the software?

    • @SouthernGFX
      @SouthernGFX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not silly at all. There’s no exit button in most ipad apps. After you have saved just swipe up and to the right. Nomad appears in a lineup and then just swipe it up and away. Very apple!

    No no no. This is NOT true posing! It is a movement separated parts of model.

    • @SouthernGFX
      @SouthernGFX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Correct. It’s a compromise in a program with no pose features.
