Thx for the video, I spend most of my time riding solo having to rely on me to get out there and get back safely, knowing how to splice is an invaluable skill to learn, good diy tools a well

Thank you for the tutorial! It has been 60 years since an old ironworker gave me a coil of manila rope and taught me how to braid it back making many useful riggings. Used that skill many times over the years. Now I can add this as well, Thanks again...

I’ve watched so many videos on how to splice an eyelet. This was the best !!

I’ve just spliced a synthetic rope off a quad bike winch. Spliced a break and a new eye. It’s as straight forward as you say 👏👏

Just broke my winch rope near the shackle end. This has been great; I now don't have to spend a couple of hundred bucks to replace the rope. A tip I picked up from another You Tuber: use fencing wire, bend it in the centre, instead of a splicing needle. Push the doubled-over wire into the rope, after bunching up the rope to relieve tension. Let the wire exit the rope near the end you're repairing, tape the cut end of the rope to the wire, and drag the wire and rope end back to where you pushed the wire in. (I hope that makes sense!)
Thanks for posting! I'm saving this vid.

Thanks for taking the time to create a clear video. After putting significant pulling stress on the spliced line, how has the line held up? Thanks

Thanks for the tips! I'm going to remove my eyelet entirely and run a straight "naked" loop like what you made instead of the steel eyelet currently on my winch line. The less metal I can have on the line, the better.

I think this was a great video. I'll be attempting my first eye loop and spice this weekend, the needle part, well "tool" seemed confusing at first. Thinking about it though, i think a small rod, tappered on one end obviously will do the trick. 😉

Awesome no fluff no bs guide. One point of constructive criticism: Next time set up an overhead camera much closer so we can actually see what you're doing in detail. Cheers

Just had my line cut and thimble stolen. Thanks for helping out with the video. I'm back up and running...albeit minus a thimble :/

Polyester and Nylon are also synthetic rope. This is HMPE which is a special class of synthetic rope.

I found that really hard to follow. All the important parts where you tappered or threaded were zoomed out too far away to see how to do it correctly. Cool idea but if I give it a go I'd have to watch another video with zoomed up explanations that I can pause to triple check myself.

Just withholding enough information to not be liable.

Sorry you found some parts hard to follow, we spent a few hours filming with 3 camera angles so we tried to make it clear as possible. There's no liability issue at play, we're just trying to bring value and teach others some general technical tips that will help them when off-roading. We hope the next one is better for you!
