    An touch of excellence . Well thought out on not using direct attachment with that carabiner.

    I was looking at your bridge setup, can you use those interchangeably on any saddle that allows a bridge? Because I seen you hooked up your Notch Rook pulley and i am thinking of doing a setup like that. I seem Tree Motion has a replacement bridge but I use a weaver cougar saddle

    Nice tip! An English Prusik from a loop is handy for this same application as well.

      Little bit better is the "sliding fisherman's knot" used as a prusik.

    Nice tip thank you the lanyard you're using in your zillion where did you get that from what kind of rope is it

    bit confused how you demonstrated a technique towards the end about using the whole length of the lanyard, to then caution us not to use that lanyard doing such an act?

    Should you adjust your carabiner so the rope doesn't run on the gate?

    I just use the snap on my steel core. Different than a carabineer, but I still do it the same way many times even though I can see the slight side loading or cross loading as you put it. I just don't see it being a big deal. But I also basel tie a base with a running bowline. Don't personally understand why that's a big deal but I'm open to new information. 17 years neither has failed me yet.

    What lanyard are you using? Trying to pair a technora rope (tech11? Tritech?) with a zillon asjuster for a positioning lanyard. Thanks!

    • @Stridertrees
      @Stridertrees  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      that is the rope I had been using. It's not "technically" approved by Petzl but it has worked well for me.

    The first time you did it was way more dangerous than just choking it off.

    I'm new to climbing so i need to get some hours on my spikes before i start buying more gear but i like your reviews... gives me something to think about for the future. I recently spent 700 on spikes, saddle, and a flipline... that took a lot of convincing to get my wife to agree on. I gotta get a new rope next because the "hand me down" rope my arborist buddy lent me is in pretty rough shape.

      A good affordable rope to start off with is Samson arbor master 16 strand. Knott and rope supply sells it by the foot so you dont have to buy an entire 120 or 150 ft piece. I believe its only around 70 cents per foot. I started with just 100 ft and it handles anything ive done so far. Then you can get a hitchclimber pulley and some prusik cord and build you a very functional hitchlimber set up for ddrt on the cheap.

      @carlcox7332 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Or you can go straight old school and tie a blakes hitch with the same rope.

      the best value rope on the market right now that is actually a good all-purpose rope that can grow with you is the Yale Blaze. It is excellent, cheap, very visible ( important). Don't buy a 16strand or 12strand rope if you can avoid it. they don't interact as well with the mechanical prusik devices.

      Yale bluemoon is best rope on the market all around purpose. It's always on sale .at bartlett got 200ft with splice for 130.

      It’ll hold me in position but it’s not rated for that really so I “don’t recommend” it.
