In his description of his own series he says it's the spine of all of his works he's been working on it since he's a kid. If you've read all the rest of his works almost everything is referenced in the dark Tower series. And some extras from other people's works of fiction. The novels are on a different level than the comic way more details.
Yeah mate of mine mentioned to me this years ago, he was creeped out by them too. He was baked one night and seemed freaked out. They look like Boss Baby or some shit. 😂
Fuck bro you had to start with Oy. I had to restart several times finally I just skipped to the Lobstacities for my mental health. Seriously though glad to see the Tower series get some love
I started off reading a bunch of kings other books and got through a bunch of them before i started this series. Thank god i did because having knowledge of all the other works makes the dark tower so much better. Also i want to see these characters in the next one. Andy the messenger robot. Shardik Mordrid The tick-tock man and Gasher Blaine The Wolves of the Calla Rhea of the coose.
The Taheen consider themselves the last true magical beings left in All-World. Also The Crimson King is exploiting powerful telepaths to destroy the beams. The whole point of the Agul Siento compound's existence. And no Shardik? Blaine? And especially Dandello??
@Rolandeld1999 Well for me it was the fact that he went after the lady who wrote the Twilight series for her main character being a self-insert. It was pure hypocrisy.
It reads like a late 70's /80's high ( in every sense of the word) concept prog rock album like Led Zeppelin , Pink Floyd and Captain Beefheart all dropped acid together and wore shitty monster masks and fancy dress costumes while waxing philosophical. All this while at a book group discussion after reading Tolkien.
@DoYouLoveTheSilverHairedGod The Blue Band of Merlin's Rainbow...is what Roland named his bong. These books would have been perfect as a Heavy Metal magazine series in the late 70s....
I just finished them all in a row on audible. I didn’t bother with winds through the keyhole though. I can see the hate for the last book but all in all I thought the series was good. The villains never seemed like they were much of a real threat. Just built up then easily dealt with. They had more trouble with blane the mono then they did the crimson king and Walter aka the man in black as much as he gets credit for the big bad of the series really doesn’t play much of a threat in it. Even his death was like ok that was easy. All in all though I give the series a B+.
Thankee sai.
Gonna say this....the death of OY made me ugly cry while reading...
"....oland...."....Oy the brave indeed 😢
Oy died a hero’s death. Without his sacrifice Mordred would have overtaken Roland before he got up
ugh. Oy was so wonderful. It broke my heart even though I knew it was going to happen
damn not a brutal spoiler as the top comment 😞
Long days and pleasant nights
I wish i could read these for the first time again, also the stand, not a huge king fan but they are amazing

I remember the little bald doctors from Stephen Kings book "Insomnia" those things are real creepy to me. Loved the book

@Shugg-Goff-HHoffical 😆
@@angelahyler2955 they’re just different iterations of the Greek gods of fate lol the one in three.
Great books😊

We are well met on the path
Missed all the Wind Through the Keyhole creatures
Stephen King consulted the R.I.F.Ts mexico rulebook for his Vampires.
Damn I was hoping for stuff from the books not the graphic novels. What about Blaine the Mono?
Oy, your a good boy.
What about Shardik and the Twelve Guardians. Would they fall into this category?
Surprised you didn't mention Dandelo
You're absolutely right, it's a big oversight not to mention Dandelo! This character is truly a fascinating highlight-both terrifying and mysterious
This would be a dope rpg game.
What about Mordred
@@ceezthemexican after what he did to Oy, mordred doesn't deserve a mention....
You omitted Shardik, my favorite monster in the series, and also my least favorite, the Author Insertion.
At first the self insert seemed cool. As times gone on I've started to wonder if it really was just pure narcissism
@Rolandeld1999 Well for me it was the fact that he went after the lady who wrote the Twilight series for her main character being a self-insert. It was pure hypocrisy.
Im number 19
I'm 99.
Wow, the Dark Tower is kinda goofy.

You sir have forgotten the face of your father.
The Talisman is more grounded and not the bloated King masturbation fest the Tower can be at times.
@@Shugg-Goff-HHofficalso true. Read the Talisman instead...

I have a dog named Oy, who is black and white with a squiggly tail.
The dude wrote a good portion of this high as balls on coke and prescription cough syrup lol
ALGORITHM
Ah yes. Stephen King and his wacky (mostly drug induced) creations.
Last book is utter garbage

The Dark Tower series is wildly overrated due to very few actually reading the books and the die hard fans overly exaggerating how good it is. 😂
I just listened to all of them on audible. They are good as a whole. I give them a B+
I didn’t waste my time with winds through the keyhole though
"Dud a chum? Did a chick?" 🦞 Sorry the books made it better.
