I am so happy that you enjoyed the book. I first read it about 30 years ago. I was teaching in a conservative small town and was filled with self loathing & wanting to "fix" myself.... I identified with the character Maurice so much. And so much of the secrecy and shame described in the book was also very relatable to life at that time for gays. I had access to so little gay literature that I hung on every word when I did find some. When I finished it, I remember thinking/hoping that maybe there was a happy ending for me too...and it turns out, there was..about 7 years later I met the man who is now my husband. I guess "good things come to those who wait" So glad you had a getaway. There is a wonderful film version of Maurice if that should sometime appeal to you. Take care, young man!
@@musicroom7185 well friend, I’ve never wanted to hug you more! I can’t tell you how glad I am that good things came to you. You deserve them. And thanks so much for putting it in! I loved it. Can’t believe how much I loved it! But I should’ve known to trust you! I can’t wait to watch the film! I need it so desperately! Thank so much! Take care friend 😊
Hi Jack! 😊 Thank you for the lovely vlog and for taking us along on your vacation! I'm really glad you had a nice time (pesky seasickness aside). I'm also super happy that you loved Maurice, it is one of my most beloved classics. I just reread it last year but you made want to revisit it once again. I just need to read the first page with the dedication "to a happier year" and I'm already brought to tears, I don't even need to get to Forster's beautiful writing 😂 Have a lovely weekend!
@@rie_violet hi friend! Excuse my late reply, everything has been pretty hectic here. Thank you so much, I had a lovely time. Was very much needed, sea sickness aside 😂 I loved it, I loved it so much. And I hadn’t even seen the dedication so I’m EXTREMELY grateful you brought it to my attention. It’s glorious! Thanks for watching and commenting as always 😊
You looked really dapper in your last evening cruise outfit! I liked Maurice too, but I thought it showed what Forster went through with this novel with all the changes and stuff. His writing is still great in this one, he was just such a strong writer, but my favourite by him is still Howard's End.
@@ameliareads589 oh friend! Thanks so much! Loved to be called dapper! I don’t know what he went through. But I need to know. I need to know all about him. And I will be buying and reading Howard’s End soon 😊
