I love how rugged portkeys monitors are, they can take a beating for sure

With all that flexibility of outputs and inputs it's really cool indeed. And just the tools are better than the ninja... from what I saw online

Hey Jason! U really should consider setting up an online Down Under Film School with your other film buddies from Aussie-New Zealand lands. However, if u do, not charge the astronomical fees of several out there. Make it reasonable. U have a great knack for explaining tech stuff with cinematography. Since u already shoot lots of sports & driving related stuff, u could give it an angle from your real world perspectives. Good luck if u have time to put such together. 😎😎

Hello Jason, when using wireless camera control with Sony cameras like the A7SIII, does the monitor display the focus point and tracking using touch tracking on the monitor?

Hey Jason. Nice review. I resell Portkeys and had a DoP return the BM7 as on the FX9, touch focus did not work and mostly the edge focus peaking in his opinion was unuseable. I note you did not mention the peaking. Can you offer you opinion on this thanks. Also, FYI, Nitze now make a cage for it. The only company that ever made a BM5 cage too. Its worth it for sure.

Hey Jason, do you know something about the lag on this monitor? Would be interesting if you can make a test with a clock on a screen in future monitor reviews. I‘m wondering if it‘s better or worse than my Ninja V. And since you‘re a lumix shooter too, have you ever used it with a lumix? The HDMI-lag is already bad on my S1H, so it‘s even more important, especially if you send the signal to a focus puller after the monitoring. :) thx!!

Great review! I've had my eye on this monitor for a little while now. Have you found the wifi control of the Komodo X is reliable in a high wifi density environment i.e. out in public places or event venues? I have been using an iPad with the Red Control app for wifi camera control on my OG Komodo, but after recent firmware updates, it has become completely unreliable in any environment other than my studio :(

Can you connect to your camera with the monitor via 2.4 ghz WiFi at the same time as an rs4 pro gimbal? I’d like to be able to still have the same control that I get from the gimbal as I would with the monitor connected…

@@JasonMorrisphotocinema So is it not possible to control the Touch Auto Focus Tracking trough the PortkeYs? Sony should definitely think about making a generic monitor that uses the viewfinder port but is bigger, brighter and more rugged than the standard fx6 and Fx9 viewfinders…

I got this monitor. It's really nice.
But I don't think you can focus with the new firmware update. Doesn't have the same option

Do you think there's a use case for content creators to use this monitor paired with their phone? Is it even able to connect to your phone to view and/or control your phone camera?
