      Spot on. Nice to see the USGA just let the players and course do their thing. As for Woodland such a thoroughly deserved victory. He just played so well and never seemed to let the pressure get to him

    255 to carry the front edge was a great 3 wood staring over that gorge. and then the chip off the surface on 17 will go down as a great one. And then the putt on 18 was icing on the cake to beat Woods US Open score. Your struggles are over Garry. You've made it now! Congrats.

    None of the know-nothing or biased talking heads have said this, so I will. Ben Hogan won 3 straight US Opens. He won with a record shattering by 5 shots 276 in 1948 at 7000 yard Riviera and then almost got killed in a car accident in Feb of 1949. Of course, couldn't play in the 1949 Open. He then won in 1950 in the most incredible comeback in sports history (the last 36 holes played on Open Saturday back then making his win even more amazing). He then won the 1951 Open at Oakland Hills which might be the most difficult Open venue of them all and certainly was that year when Hogan "brought the monster to his knees" (6927 yds par 70) with an amazing final round 67. What's ironic is that what Hogan did all things considered, was far more impressive than what Anderson did or Koepka would have done.

      different era different competition.

    • @nobodyaskedbut
      @nobodyaskedbut 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tracys2354 What does competition have to do with scoring 276 at 7000 yds in 1948 on a more difficult course than Pebble Beach. Don't think so. Just ask Tiger Woods who has never won there. Oh and BTW, Hogan couldn't clean his ball on the green (that wasn't allowed till 1960). What does competition have to do with what he did after his massive injuries which left him with far lessened physical abilities for the rest of his life let alone career.

    • @tracys2354
      @tracys2354 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nobodyaskedbut in today's game it is more competitive since on any given Major the number of guys that have a chance is larger.
