Watching Mick today made me feel nostalgic. I started thinking that whereas you are videoing this project, and ones at the chateau, to raise the money to to the renovations, one day the videos will be abt preserving the lives of your parents. Your boys will be able to watch videos of just how amazing & hard working they were. Family is what life is all abt. Imagine how you, and your boys would've loved to watch videos of you as a boy, helping your dad. Protect your dad. Make sure he doesn't overdo it. I sure love and have great respect for him.
Well said! I wish we had had cell phones with cameras when my children were growing up! These videos are more historical records than they are entertainment and fund raising!
Great respect for Mick. You sure are a chip off the old block Billi. Yanis and Rick are amazing too. You sure show how to setup a job. And keep at it till it's done
Add awe to the respect for your dad….im almost twenty years younger & I watch him work physically! Wow! Msg it keep him healthy & string for along time! I think I come watch everyday bc it makes me feel like I’ve done more than I actually have! 😂 it is indeed work to be proud of!!!😊
This is a journey worth watching and waiting for! The legacy, history, and mission of this convent can be felt so strongly today, and the Petherick Crew is adding on to its beauty and legacy! Thank you all so much for all your hard work and effort. You will never know how much you are appreciated and respected by people/families all over the world. Be safe, you're always in our prayers🙏🕊
I never get tired of watching your videos Billy. It’s like everyday we get to come and hang out with you guys and see the progression of the project. Just think of the people from all over the world watching. It’s really quite extraordinary and I thank you for sharing this with us all! Blessings for you and your family and friends! Thank you 💕😊
Billy, you are a really professional project manager as well as owner. I think this massive project stays on schedule and is moving along quickly thanks to your great leadership. Your videos are wonderful as well. Many hugs. ❤
Billy, your Dad never ceases to amaze me.Not only working, but manual working at 80 is a feat. Marvelous man and obviously a source of knowledge which you have inherited.Crack on !
Billy...we are all right there with you in spirit. For those of us who have been with you from the start , we agonize with you and your decisions , your work load , etc. You and Gwen have dreams....we have watched you achieve them , with our thoughts and prayers for you and your families' success flowing behind you both ❣️
Enjoying the journey you've taken us on. Tedious (for you) and sometimes monotonous but when you step back and show a view of what was done? Satisfying. It's why I return to watch and marvel. Thank you team for your hard labors. Crack on❣️
Please take care of yourself Billy . You look a little drawn. From all your hard work. All of your people work so hard and your doing a wonderful reconstruction of the the c. I watch you everyday your on. Take care ❤❤
Really enjoying the process, I'm sure it's frustrating when you want to go faster. But slow and steady wins the day. You're doing a Great job transforming an abandoned building, breathing new life and purpose into it. It's going to be phenomenal when its finished. Best wishes to all.
How amazing all the work that is being done just to tear up a floor. Well done Gentlemen, my hat is off to you. Each challenge you face and conquer is one step closer to completing the job. Have a wonderful day
Music ......yea........more music please. Your overlay is always flawless. Demo, construction, and Billy's music. AMAZING Combination keeps us wanting more
The cobbled together mess is something else. Amazing how someone can come along and build over.. and over... rinse and repeat... until you have a lasagna floor.
Like I replied yesterday, it's the different eras of framing and updated flooring, that makes it like an archeological dig! Exposing the treasures, under the sediment!
Wow another big step forward. Love watching how well everyone works together and the amazing progress. I was sure that the care taken in the demolition would protect the ceiling. Well done crew.Billy you accomplish a lot working alone doing the studs.
All those layers to the floor just blows my mind. I had always wondered why the beautiful apartment doors were so short. They kept putting in new floors then cut the bottom of the doors to fit each time. Can you use those doors on the new rooms by adding onto the doors again? Maybe hide it with a complimentary colored kickplate. Those doors are just so wonderful.
You Father is a strong man. You will continue just like him, Billy and that is amazing how a great and diligent work ethic you both have. I love the progress you all made. Ya is looks like he grew a couple of inches. He is strong too.
you could see the change in care being taken on the demolition by the instant change in the energy Yanis put into the last section. He went from full steam ahead to very circumspect prying up of the boards. Excellent job!
should put a few sheets of plywood over those floor joists to prevent anyone or anything going through the ceiling while you work on the rest of the demolition.
I love watching the convent being 'reborn' and look forward with great anticipation to seeing the chapel being restored along with the organ being finished / voiced. What a splendid facility this will become. Thanks Billy for all you and your wonderful team of people are doing.
Amazing to see the joists where the floor was done correctly vs. all the other varieties of floor. Always so interesting to see such things, Billy, even though I am an old lady who knows nothing about construction. Your vision & your great team of friends make me a devoted fan! Blessings! Say, now that the work has had such massive progress, is it time to leave the sound recorder in an "untouched" area of the convent again? Perhaps over a weekend? Might be interesting.
Like your laser level looks like a little robot. Billy, you seem to be enjoying the framing part. You are fast at it. Great job, all of you, including Steve again.
Billy, all your hard work will be rewarded in the end. This building is going to be magnificent when it's finished. You'll all need a long holiday at the end! And your choice of music to accompany it is superlative. I've been with you from the begining and will be here to the end whenecer that is. Take care all of you.
You got so much of the studwork done, you really zoom through stuff when you get going. So crazy all the floors being pulled up! I wondered with the corridor level you got to, is that the original floor you've got there now and the original level of all those floors ? Will you eventually take up the boards that are there now? I think the spirits are happy with progress 🎉
If you fellas can keep this pace up, the library, dining room, and hallway will basically be done by Christmas. That's an amazing way to end a year of really hard work, and a fabulous start to 2025. You're definitely going to need to celebrate this achievement, Billy. Cheers!! 💪👍😎🍺
Billy I’m enjoying the journey with you and your team I will be booking a stay there when your all finished fantastic job so far thank you for sharing your journey 🙏👍
If there is a university nearby that teaches historical architecture or building techniques. They’d be interested to see the centuries of changes this structure has has gone through. Each section they demolish uncovers different materials an a variety of configurations. Students could see these first hand.
I really enjoy watching you and the rest of the guys. You all work together so well. Great job with both the convent and the chateau. I've learned a few things that I wish they used here in the US. It would make windows and doors so much easier with the different hinge style. I love all the improvements.
I love what you're doing with that library. It's going to look fantastic. I would somehow plant a tree in the center of it if I were making one of my own.
As you pointed out, that heavy 50 mil x 150 mil flooring support was the better way to go. But the cost of removal and the time it would take is probably the main reason they didn't. That last room was an early test, doing the "right way"- and that wasn't really finished- only a few of the noggins were fitted, though they were all cut out and left laying between the larger 50 mil x's. As always, the music well supported the actions- with a little whimsy- you listen to a great many genres of music. Best to all, and raise a frosty one to the rest.
People do crazy things when they remodel. I was replaceing a floor and had to remove the carpeting the only problem is they built a wall on top of the carpeting.
it's interesting to note how the plaster that was used to attach the floor, looks more like a cake now! 😶🫢😂😂 the music used for the timelapse of the floor removal is so perfect ❤️❤️ the last section of the floor removal seemed to be tricky than others, as i felt the plaster (ceiling of the floor below) was directly below the wood! (correct me, if I'm wrong!). also, very glad to see steve in action!
You are all doing amazing work . I have so much respect and admiration for the dream, the drive, the team and the vision for this transformation at the Convent. Thank you for allowing us to share in your journey . ❤
Great progress re floors and studding up the walls, the plumbing, wiring and insulation now and then the plasterboard etc., should move quickly and we’ll see the real shape of the gallery emerging! 👍🏻👍🏻
Just love the regularity of how the floors were constructed in the past in the convent there🤣🤣 You'd think that just about any ol' construction technique, or none at all was applied to the place! 😂😂😂
As a contractor I would suggest finishing the rest of the second floor demolishion before finishing up the Library as this will help not having so much dust when the walls get plastered.
I imagine owner after owner and contractor after contractor laying floor upon floor using Billy’s own words “It’ll be fine.” LOL! At least we are going in the right direction this time. Cheers
Is the "clay" sanitary, or can microbes e.g. "toxic" mold grow in it? Does the "clay" have an odor when wet? Perhaps consider testing the "clay" for microbes/spores and its ability to ferment microbes/spores? If these tests are positive the "clay" could be treated to prevent the growth of microbes/spores and sealed? Now would be the perfect time to to this 😊.
It won't be a problem if the clay is installed correctly. It needs to "breathe." That means it can absorb moisture in damper months and release it in warmer months. Mould needs moisture to grow, so if the clay insulation is unable to breathe, then it is a problem. It will become structurally unsound and, depending on the type of mould, potentially a health risk if disturbed. Historic England has some free PDF files on this subject.

Agreed. You should have your mother on more often.

Crack On! This floor removal has been very interesting. Construction Archaeology is fascinating.
Yanis is my name, destruction is my game. 👍🏽👍🏽
Yes but Yanis knows how to rebuild as well as taught by Simon .
💪
😂😂😂
I mean wow, linoleum on Cement on wooden floors on wodden planks on press wood, on tommettes .... Bravoo for the cleaning, I'm impressed !

Great vlog again Billy and super work done by the team. Dot and dab floor boarding! Thats a first for me! Stay well.
The cobbled together mess is something else. Amazing how someone can come along and build over.. and over... rinse and repeat... until you have a lasagna floor.
Probably a multi generational local building firm, who the nuns always asked for advice!
That lasagna reference was spot on
So true@@lat1419
Lasagna reference is hilarious
Like I replied yesterday, it's the different eras of framing and updated flooring, that makes it like an archeological dig!
Exposing the treasures, under the sediment!
Glad the ceiling didnt get damaged. The part of the floor they did right must have been the latest reno. I enjoyed this video.
Wow another big step forward. Love watching how well everyone works together and the amazing progress. I was sure that the care taken in the demolition would protect the ceiling. Well done crew.Billy you accomplish a lot working alone doing the studs.
Truly amazing! A true privilege to witness.!
really enjoying the demo and buildout . craftsmanship is unparalleled

Beautiful music...!!!
Does anyone know what it is?
So exciting. Having a vision that exists only in your head and then seeing it realized little by little. Room by room.
should put a few sheets of plywood over those floor joists to prevent anyone or anything going through the ceiling while you work on the rest of the demolition.
So much junk in those floors lovely to watch the deconstruction
I love watching the convent being 'reborn' and look forward with great anticipation to seeing the chapel being restored along with the organ being finished / voiced. What a splendid facility this will become. Thanks Billy for all you and your wonderful team of people are doing.

GREAT JOB! Keep going Billy! Great team work…
I always love seeing the progress you make on that amazing convent. Thank you for the video.
I love the contrast, Yanis and Mick ripping out, Billy rebuilding.
All this hard work … I’m exhausted just watching 😂 well done Billy & co 😊
Like your laser level looks like a little robot. Billy, you seem to be enjoying the framing part. You are fast at it. Great job, all of you, including Steve again.
Simon..if you read these comments please drop one on here as to what you're working on in England ..please
He is probably golfing.
After seeing how much is coming off those floors its no wonder those beams are bowed. Poor beams.

Wow! Great work on the stud wall, and all that rubble! Amazing how many layers that floor has!
Oh…this is nt about the convent but I hope everyone’s watched the latest Doing it Ourselves”…Michael has done something amazing..brave guy
The results are great!!
Its coming along Billy, coming along real fast now!
I still like the music on your volgs. It's like when you watch a movie without the music it doesn't make a big impact
Progress! Amazing what you get done in a day! Love the choice of music for this video.
If you fellas can keep this pace up, the library, dining room, and hallway will basically be done by Christmas. That's an amazing way to end a year of really hard work, and a fabulous start to 2025. You're definitely going to need to celebrate this achievement, Billy. Cheers!! 💪👍😎🍺

Steve is back!
Hi, Steve 👋🏻

Excellent episode and progress! 😊❤🎉
This is the most soothing part of my day. I get home from work, pour a glass of wine and just watch the magic happen.
LIKE and SUBSCRIBE for our wonderful Team Billy and his adorable Father
Always amazing accomplishments every day 👏👏👏👏👏
If Simon is watching accross the ditch? I wonder what he would say about all the flooring.
I really enjoy watching you and the rest of the guys. You all work together so well. Great job with both the convent and the chateau. I've learned a few things that I wish they used here in the US. Well done team Billy!! So exciting see stuff come up and go to the déchèterie . So many floors so happy Yannis👏👏👏🤞🤞🙏🏻🙏🏻🤣
Such a tremendous undertaking!!! Your commitment to do it properly is admirable. Crack on!
Everything is looking great 😊
The crew works well together.
Amazing progress!
Well done guys 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💙💙💙💙

The Convent will be in an amazing destination artists of all kinds.🎹🎻🎨🎭🖼️🗣️🎶
can't wait to see you putting all the books you accumulated in your library.
The layers of flooring is just mind boggling! The team is doing great work though.
It's coming together ❤️
Unbelievable. It is truly amazing. From so far away, I can feel the air coming back into the building. What you are all doing is truly impressive ❤😊
All coming together, it's going to look amazing x
5:35 Only known Sasquatch in captivity!
Mick and Yanis are the demo kings!
People do crazy things when they remodel. I was replaceing a floor and had to remove the carpeting the only problem is they built a wall on top of the carpeting.
Great a lot of work done to day .Well done team👏

It's shaping up Billy! What a great team❤❤
It seems as though each floor is built differently. Odd. Nice music.
I never stop being astounded at the layers and layers everywhere.
Can you use floor layers to date the building, like tree rings?
😂
I don’t know how Yannis get out of bed ever day the work he does .He like a machine !
That man must be able to eat anything he wants with th3 amount of calories he burns with all his hard hard work
I think you all are doing an amazing job. Plus you helped helpless Ryan on your day off. I believe you love your work
Back breaking work!
Great Progress! Crack On Mates!
Can’t believe just wot a mess these floors are…the cost of that work must have been extortionate..ripped off
Just love the regularity of how the floors were constructed in the past in the convent there🤣🤣
You'd think that just about any ol' construction technique, or none at all was applied to the place! 😂😂😂
probably what they could afford (or ask for as a donation) at the time.
As a contractor I would suggest finishing the rest of the second floor demolishion before finishing up the Library as this will help not having so much dust when the walls get plastered.
It looks like every nun had her own type of flooring.
😂
Several own type of floorings each.
Your process is amazing. The floor demolition is one helluva job. Great work men.Your Pop is a powerhouse!
Billy, you're looking a bit tired. Take care of yourself and don't over do!
😮 you guys manage to make the of messes. 🇨🇦
I imagine owner after owner and contractor after contractor laying floor upon floor using Billy’s own words “It’ll be fine.” LOL! At least we are going in the right direction this time. Cheers
what did they do in the past, hold a construction school on how many ways can a floor system be installed.
