They really are gonna use the initial concept for the original FFVII that got repurposed for other games like Xenogears and FF9: “Spirit Energy otherwise known as the lifestream develops through a cycle of separation, union, and diffusion. This holds true at an individual biological level as well as the planetary and galactic levels. In other words, the universe is one giant ever-maturing body of spirit energy. As the universe's energy increases, it gives rise to smaller, separate units of spirit energy, similar to how humans give birth to children. These units are known as cosmic eggs. These cosmic eggs move into alternate dimensions and precipitate big bangs, creating a new universe, and give rise to galaxies, planets, organisms, and so on. This process of separation and union then repeats itself, resulting in further growth of the great expanse. - FINAL FANTASY VII Dismantled, 1997
Is Sephiroth trying to become the absolute God above all these realms, using Jenova? Could he even travel to Kingdom Hearts world? Damn, if this is extended so much, even travelling to other Final Fantasy universes might not be impossible for him
His goal since the OG is to control the Lifestream. That hasn't changed. What changed is that by breaching the boundaries of fate, he found a way to utilize the energy created by short lived worlds as they come and go. He can grow more powerful by absorbing this energy (he did this at the end of Remake, and also end of Rebirth) at the moment a world is destroyed.
@@zaqareemalcolmit makes me wonder if Sephiroth will have a new form for his final boss fight in part 3? Back then it was just one world he was absorbing but now it’s multiple worlds.

there another way just join sephiroth side and destory this world and recreated new one which is good and bringing all life back to live again instead current one which half or character had already died. just let meteor hit the planet so sephiroth can recreate new one lol :D
wtf does that even mean lol, there's nothing stopping you from playing the og. I wasn't even born when it came out but i still played it like 10 years ago.
Well he did say at one point that this Aerith has been hiding from him in this world, so it would stand to reason that this is the Aerith counterpart of this 'Multiverse Sephiroth' who seems to come from OG FF7
To be clear: this is NOT an MCU-style multiverse. There's an easy-to-miss NPC in Cosmo Canyon that says (paraphrasing): the Lifestream/mako is made up of memories. But memories aren't just real events. We remember dreams, goals for the future, fictional stories etc. In the lifestream, these dreams/fantasies become pocket worlds where the dead reconcile/resist and relive their deaths. (That's why Zack and Biggs are constantly being gunned down by Shinra snipers.) Its very similar to FFX's Farplane In the OG, mako poisoning is described as trippy dreamlike/memory-infused coma. When we enter Cloud's subconscious to unlock his memories, we're in a dreamlike world; there's even a glowing crack in the sky. Nothing's changed, this same concept is being applied to the entire Lifestream and elaborated on. In the context of Rebirth, OG Cloud's subconsciousness was a temporary dream world, a safe haven to piece his memory together before fading away
I think they are in purgatory worlds this time. Everyone is in their own world made up of collective consciousness and memories. If they can’t work together or enter the lifestream they cannot figure out where they are and how to stop it? The only difference is Aerith likely has all her memories the whispers stripped away back intact. So she may know how to stop it this time. She may not be completely gone this time. At least not everywhere.
When people compare it to KH it’s a statement on the quality of writing not just the universe/time travel elements. It would be a compliment to be compared to the chrono series.
@@Kodiie yeah the fact that Alternate dimension Zack is pushed into a world where Zack is dead that is pretty much serge in a world where serge is dead. This is just a defense on Nomura out of desperation. He TOTALLY had a hand in this. Its got his DNA written all over it. Now whether you think he did a good job or not is one thing, but his execution of his "style" is VERY familiar to me and I can see it in spades with this game. Its pretty easy to spot
This is peak mind control/brain addled Cloud, adding the psychedelic experience of "the universe is infinite and so are all of us" just adds to his fucked-up-ness. I think this is gonna add to the difficulty for him next game to accept who he is, embrace his emotions for his friends etc. Like, i could see him not caring about tifa/barret or anyone getting hurt or in danger, cause like, he's just gonna unite timelines to save aerith, so there's prob a timeline where they're not in danger or hurt anyway Aerith and Sephy are just S2 Loki at this point anyway, they're timeslipping between timelines to try and ensure the outcome they want.
I'd really love some FF8 lovin. After watching Aerith die twice, then come back, then leave, then hang aroud as Clouds schizo girlfriend, I guess that wouldnt be too crazy.
If I remember right, Nomura had commented how some ideas that he couldn't implement in the og FF7 he used in FF8. So he, Kitase, or Nojima are probably using remake as an opportunity to add them.
@@Haka-f3k-u Or alternatively, Cloud and company should just get Jotaro on board to deal with Sephiroth for them. So now I'm just imagining it sounding like that scene when Jotaro beat the ever living hell out of Kira after the latter hurt Koichi. 😂
Aerith is literally the strongest character in Final Fantasy. Imagine knowing your fate but you still use the time you have left to uplift other people.
I don't think the word "strongest" is fitting here cause normally you use that word for power levels and strength. Maybe the word brave or strong willed might be mor fitting for the message that you are trying to convey
@@SwobyJkilled completely crazy herself not in the top 15, she was courageous yes but they are not strong there are people who suffered destinies much crazier than all those that aerith knew go see FF 14 and you will see the difference between the tragic destiny of the MC of 14 and that of Aerith.
The scene where Aerith pushes Cloud and you see Sephiroth slowly entering the church is one of my favorite scenes in the game, holy shit. It said so much with so little; Sephiroth is an absolute menace in every timeline, and Aerith is tragic in every timeline. Unless the theories are true in that Cloud created a timeline where Aerith doesn't die when he hit Sephiroth's sword... Sephiroth killing Aerith is truly a canon event.
It might be a singular event that needs to happen in every timeline for Sephiroth to be defeated. So Sephiroth knew he has to create a reality where she lives to break the cycle. He used Cloud's (and the fan's) hope of saving her to achieve this. And in the end the Aerith that survived will have to sacrifice to restore the status quo. So in a meta way it's the writers telling the fans that they need to let go of the idea of saving Aerith, because her death is a vital part in the survival of the FFVII universe.
That reminds me of an episode of What If? where Doctor Strange tried changing the past to save his loved one but no matter what she kept dying one way or another. I think it was called Absolute Point in time. So Aeriths death could be inevitable.
this reminded me of The Flash tv show where the whole show takes place in an alternate timeline and everything happens 6 years earlier than they were supposed to
I'm betting it now that the 3rd game will be about combining all the multiverse into 1 true timeline where sephiroth can come back whole and try to rule the world or somethin.
I'm more worried than excited. Everytime comics, movies, and video games dips into the multiverse pool it becomes dumber for it. Bayonetta 3 is a perfect example of how trash this concept can get.

To the people claiming "oh this is just Kingdom Hearts now", Final Fantasy has dabbled into alternate timelines as early as day one with the original Final Fantasy, and I'm not referring to Stranger of Paradise. Timelines were also a plot point in FFVIII. You even played as characters from the past
Playing as the same characters but from the past is NOT the same as straight-up universe hopping and having multiple parallel characters. Just hope they nail the concept and not get too convoluted, even the jp fanbase is screaming they have no idea what's going on/will happen.
@@jinnimoo You aren't playing as the same characters from the past. You play as Zack in certain sections in this game as just as you played as Laguna and his friends in their own story from the past. Also, FFVII's instigating antagonist Jenova is literally a planet-hopping space vampire
@kaihedgie1747 Been over a decade since I played ff8, yeh there are other characters from the past you play as, but ultimately it's not a multiverse/parallel world story. The issue with ff7 here for most people is that this oversaturated timeline concept was never part of the narrative to begin with, so long time fans are a bit trepid on where they're going with it, or why it needed to exist in the first place.
I mean....we don't know what could have happened to Cloud when he went through the Mako back in the original. The idea of multiverses was too much for that Cloud. Iterations could have had different outcomes. The idea that mako energy is what combines the worlds in a multiverse makes sense. People are just upset that it looks like FF7 is just jumping on the bandwagon of multiverse stuff.

@@jcceno4273 That didn't stop her from saving the planet in the end, did it? Without her, Meteor wouldn't have been destroyed and the Geostigma pandemic wouldn't have a cure.
I finally get it, OG FF7 wasnt even the original timeline, the original timeline was zack surviving and midgar destroyed by meteor, this is why clouds behavior was already so weird in OG, not really jenovas cells, we was already pushed around by whispers.
It is implied the Whispers are literally Destiny. You control them, you control the Way Reality Remembers itself. How it Lives, how it Dies, if it dies When it dies. Think of Living in somebody's Unconscious Mind. And JENOVA lives in that Mind with the Souls. As does Sephiroth. As does everyone touched by JENOVA. All of Us, All for Us.
I kind of agree because in OG even if Sephiroth failed planet is doomed anyway. In AC it shows Sephiroth can still come back. So I think the OG is the one where Zack lives, and Aerith still alive. That's why they keep saying you should save Aerith
Time. Space. Reality. It's more than a linear path. It's a prism of endless possibility. And nothing will be the same. I am the Watcher. I am your guide through these vast new realities. Follow me and dare to face the unknown, and ponder the question... What if?
i loved rebirth so much but i find it kinda strange how they said this game would be an "unknown journey" to the original story but rebirth seemed to be 90% identical to the original story of ff7 1997? did any of you guys find that strange
The Homunculus from Shadow of Destiny: Well, let's try an analogy. It may seem trivial, but suppose you're in a cafe, trying to decide between coffee and tea. The you that chooses coffee after a long deliberation, and the you that chooses tea actually both exist. Except that your fates diverge at that point and there is no way either of you can ever know what happened to the other one.
How will they do the 3rd part? It will be huge since there are some parts missing, like Wutai, Mideel, Northern Crater, Weapons, Outer Space, Huge Materia, Meteor, Rocket Town, Shinra Sister Ray, More Summons, etc. How will they fit all of those?
With hard work and resources? They'll likely cut some areas that were fine as one-and-dones, like a few dungeons such as Mythril Mines. There's only 4 more summons left, what's more interesting is if they'll finally handle it all in a more immersive way. Yes there's going to be places like North, Rocket Town, Wutai, Mideel, and theoretically that Ever Crisis area since that game is now being pulled in. It won't be as much of a progressive world journey so major cutscenes that'd be used for that, will be used for the more world-scattered events like you list.
Well assuming they remain faithful to the third part and not cut a lot out and place pieces that don’t make much sense like the overdone multiverse trend, OG disk 2 covers from Aerith’s death aftermath to the final raid on Midgar while OG disk 3 is just the final dungeon. That can all easily be put into the final game. What I’m honestly wondering is how will the high wind work in a giant world like 7’s. It’s going to be interesting and exciting😊

@@sandorcleg7393 Time travel in this game is just Back to the Future II. The extra step is that this story's writers actually take "matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed" seriously and made it so that there is a point in spacetime where all timelines end and begin (this is partly inspired by the concept of eternal recurrence in some religions). The Biff Tannen of this tale is trying to use that place of death and rebirth to collapse all the branches into a single branch where he uses the almanac to get rich. All of this has now been explained in three sentences stacked on top of a scene from an 80s movie that is less than five minutes long. The biggest mistake I can see them making is assuming that every Christian and Muslim (and people raised in those religions) will understand all of this without help. Abrahamic religion has no concept of cyclical time and sees it as a matter of Birth ----> Death, so the concept of Birth ---> Death ---> Birth ---> Death is going to be a lot to digest for a lot of people without a clear explanation.
my guess is less so time and more so memetic lifestreams..? memories and will/thoughts, making new threads of the lifestream and because it’s apart of lifestream it’ll always pull apart and return to the planet. but maybe this specific Sephiroth (cuz there are multiple) and now Aerith, exist separately from the lifestream… (hence the new type of whispers) that are more so born out of their will.. memetic legacies are a reoccurring theme… so i’d guess in a way, merging it all together would stop the separation cycle, maybe make a limbo… similar to the situation of the world with Tidus and Yuna. i don’t think the merging of worlds would be like Ultimecia’s time compression, as in to bring all life to one point and end living… Merging of worlds would maybe just mean.. no longer being dissolved in and out of the lifestream which is kind of what we are seeing Zack and Aerith do now and i know it’s what Sephiroth does.. to an extent at least one of the Sephiroth’s anyway (using his will and specific memories to defy the cycle of the planet and exist) will is also why Sephiroth easily overrides Jenova’s parasitic nature, because she naturally has no will outside of her virus like system of existing. Sephiroth assimilates Jenova, with his will. Jenova influences others will and thoughts through memories (becoming the things you know and are familiar with in order to manipulate) dreams and honor… are just will and memories in another way too i guess…. will and memories constantly pop up. but… i dunno… Sephiroth can you explain it to me like it’s the bite of 87…
but i guess you could argue that the lifestream and memories are a form of time..??? but not in the concept of linear time… we also hear conversations about dreams/will and memories creating a way to see into the “lifestream” by one of those ladies in the talking circle at cosmo canyon i think and maybe that’s why all the stamps are military themed small dog breed and we haven’t seen something like, those hellhound dogs (like Rufus pet) be a stamp because people remember it being some sort of lap dog…? i dunno!!! ashhdksk let me shut up
I am just now realizing that the entire first half of FF7 up to Aeriths death was Aerith and Sephiroth playing chess against each other with Cloud's heart and mind on the line.
This isn't Kingdom Hearts anymore. It's Sonichu. Let me explain. The main characters are a dangerous, malicious psychopath with horrible fashion sense, a scary weird obsession with their mother, and who constantly bangs on about the merging of dimensions and worlds while identifying as their god, as well as a guy who looks exactly like an ostensibly more successful character but with yellow hair.
So, basic translation. Because we defied destiny and the whisper harbinger was destroyed, more new worlds and timelines were created. Some die faster than others for various reasons. But all are united by the life stream. Sephiroth seeks to merge these other worlds together in the ‘reunion’ to create his ideal world where he will not end.
It's funny how everyone keeps saying Kingdom Hearts. Did none of you guys play shit like FF1 which had time travel, FFVIII which had time travel and memory shenanigans, and especially FFXIII-2 where you had a bunch of different timeline endings you had to get to 100% the game?
Sephiroth: Okay, you know that multiverse and alternative timeline stuff? Forget all of that. I tried it. Didn’t work; I couldn’t go anywhere. Next best thing? Disrupting the Lifestream’s multitude of memories to create forced changes and with those changes, they’ll destroy themselves. It’ll be my opportunity gathering them all in the Reunion to reach divine power.
Nah, Kitase is still running the show as producer and was approaching Kevin Feige levels of "influencing" the plot (though he was the director of OG FF7 so he has way more of a right to do that than Feige). Hamaguchi and Nomura were advocating to make the time travel less complicated and, believe it or not, they succeeded-- this is just Back to the Future II with extra steps.

Sephiroth says, "When the boundaries of fate are breached, new worlds are born" does that mean all new realities only exist because of what Remake did at the end? The end of this series better be the greatest most satisfactory happy ending that ties everything together otherwise the multiverse will continue it's losing streak.
Between calling death a homecoming, and worlds merging, you'd think this is Xenoblade 3 lol FF16 had some Xenoblade 3 similarities too, makes me wonder if Square has just been inspired by that game
The Xeno games and the 2020s FF7 sequels are both partially inspired by the idea of reincarnation and eternal recurrence. As for the worlds merging, well... a certain American comic book did it first. ;)
I don't understand why they are making Sephiroth a multiverse villain though, when that should be Ultimecia's role. But whatever... I'll just let them cook whatever shit they are cooking for Part 3. I just hope everything will pay off in the end so og FF7 fans and FF fans in general, would appreciate the story they are doing for this Remake Project despite the story changes

- FINAL FANTASY VII Dismantled, 1997
I think that’s what they meant by going deeper into FFVII
Is Sephiroth trying to become the absolute God above all these realms, using Jenova? Could he even travel to Kingdom Hearts world? Damn, if this is extended so much, even travelling to other Final Fantasy universes might not be impossible for him
Sephiroth really sayin "fuck one timeline i want them ALL!"
His goal since the OG is to control the Lifestream. That hasn't changed. What changed is that by breaching the boundaries of fate, he found a way to utilize the energy created by short lived worlds as they come and go. He can grow more powerful by absorbing this energy (he did this at the end of Remake, and also end of Rebirth) at the moment a world is destroyed.
he basically frayed the once singular lifestream into many branches to make it more vulnerable to his attempts of taking control of it
@@zaqareemalcolmit makes me wonder if Sephiroth will have a new form for his final boss fight in part 3? Back then it was just one world he was absorbing but now it’s multiple worlds.
This could explain why Sephiroth is in Dissidia, Kingdom Hearts, and Super Smash Bros.
THE MULTIVERSE THEORY IS REAL!
@mariogirl8100 Considering he can create physical manifestations of his will through Remnants as confirmed in Advent Children, I think I found out who Xehanort, and the Master of Masters truly is.

(That's why Zack and Biggs are constantly being gunned down by Shinra snipers.) Its very similar to FFX's Farplane
In the OG, mako poisoning is described as trippy dreamlike/memory-infused coma.
People are claiming Kingdom hearts but has anyone ever played Chrono Cross. Zack is basically playing the role of Serge right now.
So Aeriths death could be inevitable.
this reminded me of The Flash tv show where the whole show takes place in an alternate timeline and everything happens 6 years earlier than they were supposed to
Well, I guess the 3rd game will focus on the multiverse. I'm excited but worried.

Timelines were never a part of ff7.
Playing as the same characters but from the past is NOT the same as straight-up universe hopping and having multiple parallel characters. Just hope they nail the concept and not get too convoluted, even the jp fanbase is screaming they have no idea what's going on/will happen.

4:44 Showed Cloud the future where he becomes a clone
my guess is less so time and more so memetic lifestreams..?
memories and will/thoughts, making new threads of the lifestream and because it’s apart of lifestream it’ll always pull apart and return to the planet.
but maybe this specific Sephiroth (cuz there are multiple) and now Aerith, exist separately from the lifestream… (hence the new type of whispers) that are more so born out of their will..
memetic legacies are a reoccurring theme… so i’d guess in a way, merging it all together would stop the separation cycle, maybe make a limbo… similar to the situation of the world with Tidus and Yuna.
i don’t think the merging of worlds would be like Ultimecia’s time compression, as in to bring all life to one point and end living…
Merging of worlds would maybe just mean.. no longer being dissolved in and out of the lifestream
which is kind of what we are seeing Zack and Aerith do now
and i know it’s what Sephiroth does.. to an extent at least one of the Sephiroth’s anyway (using his will and specific memories to defy the cycle of the planet and exist)
will is also why Sephiroth easily overrides Jenova’s parasitic nature, because she naturally has no will outside of her virus like system of existing. Sephiroth assimilates Jenova, with his will.
Jenova influences others will and thoughts through memories (becoming the things you know and are familiar with in order to manipulate)
dreams and honor… are just will and memories in another way too i guess….
will and memories constantly pop up.
but… i dunno… Sephiroth can you explain it to me like it’s the bite of 87…
but i guess you could argue that the lifestream and memories are a form of time..???
but not in the concept of linear time…
we also hear conversations about dreams/will and memories creating a way to see into the “lifestream” by one of those ladies in the talking circle at cosmo canyon i think
and maybe that’s why all the stamps are military themed small dog breed and we haven’t seen something like, those hellhound dogs (like Rufus pet) be a stamp because people remember it being some sort of lap dog…?

This is the good sephiroth. He speaks positively about the planet. Something jenova sephiroth wouldn’t do considering jenova wants to destroy it.
Sephiroth: Hey cloud, guess what. We're in a Nomura game
Never before have I both wanted something to be not true and true as much as this. It's so dumb, but it's so _hilarious!_ but it's _SO _*_DUMB!_*
So this is like MK 1 now? At least with MK 1, it isn't complicated. But with FF7? It'll be complicated as heck
Mk already had 3 reboots, so I don’t know what you mean by “isn’t complicated.”
Sephiroth: I am Seven Parallel Universes ahead of you!
Cant wait for the reunion in part 3 with aerith and zack
Lol
So, basic translation. Because we defied destiny and the whisper harbinger was destroyed, more new worlds and timelines were created. Some die faster than others for various reasons. But all are united by the life stream. Sephiroth seeks to merge these other worlds together in the ‘reunion’ to create his ideal world where he will not end.
So I might be right about him seeking to make all timelines merge and then proceed to become God via the same plan from the OG?
It's funny how everyone keeps saying Kingdom Hearts. Did none of you guys play shit like FF1 which had time travel, FFVIII which had time travel and memory shenanigans, and especially FFXIII-2 where you had a bunch of different timeline endings you had to get to 100% the game?

Shit I was half expecting sora to pop out of nowhere with white haired noctis and a kingdom hearts op theme
Soon, Cloud and Sephiroth will appear in Magic The Gathering. This will be an interesting....reunion
Imagine if Sora popped up on one of the timelines 😮😮😮

Nah, Kitase is still running the show as producer and was approaching Kevin Feige levels of "influencing" the plot (though he was the director of OG FF7 so he has way more of a right to do that than Feige). Hamaguchi and Nomura were advocating to make the time travel less complicated and, believe it or not, they succeeded-- this is just Back to the Future II with extra steps.
I actually like the multiverse. It opens up to unpredictable fate of uncertainity.

He's mostly limited to the Planet's manifested realities, she wouldn't have to be (from what I know).
Yep. And the role would be suitable for Kefka too. Dude tried to destroy all of existence for fun
@@CalamityLegendYou mean all life on the Planet.
@@rileyduncan3927 He did pretty much succeed on that, but over the course of the game he desired to destroy and remake the universe in his image (according to his cult), and based on the quote before the final boss battle, Kefka does state he would destroy everything and create a “monument to non-existence”.
@@CalamityLegend Though it could be just arrogance. But I see what you’re trying to say.
So if they're multiple different timelines, is there a timeline where Seph has not lost his mind? xD That would be interesting lol
Nomura: "You think Kingdom Hearts is confusing? Watch how I can ruin your mind with only three games."
I love how, once you have the context and know the story, you realise the entire ending section of Rebirth is pretty much a chess game between Sephiroth and Aerith.
