Aerith: Give it back 😖
Sephiroth: ✈️
LMAO THIS IS HILARIOUS
😂
It would be funny if Sephiroth says, "Come and get it" 😂
Funny how Aerith and Sephiroth are supposed to be playing 4D chess on this timeline, but while Sephiroth has power to fly, Aerith is still pretty much grounded
It honestly reminds me of the OG scene where Sephiroth chucks a Destruct Materia at Cloud and then *nyooms* away! LOL!
I love the almost childlike delivery "That's mine!" when barrett took the fake materia from him. It really shows how obsessive and fractured his mind is becoming.
It's Like Gollum in lord of the rings, same vibes
@@WalterEgos. yeah it definitely gave me LOTR vibes.
Toddler who can't have his toy no more vibes
It's not fake. The pedestal's was, then after the temple collapse, the real one was obviously revealed. Such is the reward for Cait Sith's sacrifice, and it's literally how the temple works. Aerith provides it to Cloud. The fake was destroyed.
The real one is in Cloud's possession, and he is being drawn North PRECISELY to give that to Sephiroth.
Ergo, none of what you've seen thusfar was "Sephiroth." They were, as they have literally always been since the 90's, JENOVA transformations of Nibelheim incident burn victims, and other Hojo experiments that he let out to test the JENOVA theory.
Cloud having the black materia; none of the other party members seeing Sephiroth, and Aerith only "speaking" to Cloud AFTER they all board the Tiny Bronco could NOT BE MORE CLEARLY INDICATING THAT THIS IS HAPPENING IN CLOUD'S HEAD.
"Sephiroth" is only ever seen as;
---A morphed Nibelheim burn victim or other SC-# release from Hojo's lab at Shinra, such as (now) Roche and Broden, courtesy of JENOVA
---A piece of JENOVA's corpse
---Inside Cloud's POV only, with only dead/metaphysically existent teammates (newly dead Aerith/Zack), and right after being separated from the rest of the party (Midgardsormr, Ancient temple, etc).
---An amalgamation of whispers congregating to "form" his "body"
Sephiroth is dead. Yes, even in the remakes. The fake black materia was destroyed with Cait Sith's 1st body. The original was taken by the party. Barret really did throw the orb like an idiot, but that's also because Sephiroth clearly wasn't there, and Barret too thought he was holding the fake. He doesn't understand, much like you don't, that the temple itself is the black materia. The "orb" that we see as the fake on the pedestal is useless. The temple becomes and provides the true black materia upon its own destruction.
JENOVA, yes JENOVA and not Sephiroth, manipulate Cloud into chasing "Sephiroth" since Midgar so that they will free the real black materia from the temple. It isn't even until a few days after this in canon when the party gets further North does Sephiroth's corpse (because again, say it with me, he is DEAD) even *begin* to materialize and exercise any form of its own control over Cloud or any of the other Nibelheim victims.
It is at **that** point that the WEAPONS truly wake up.
Cloud is separated by the temple and whispers and there you "hand over the black materia" aka put it in his pocket because that's how this game's story has LITERALLY ALWAYS WORKED.
I honestly pity the sad-ass, wrong-more-than-it's-right interpretations you guys come up with. You completely miss the point of scenes and the theme of the game entirely. It's like they might as well just pipe white noise onto your screens.
You're being tricked by a 25 year old plot point that they are CLEARLY still using.
@@davemccombs Damn dude relax. Hope this comment helped make you feel smarter than the rest of everyone else.
To those asking why Sephiroth gave the Black Materia back to Cloud - he's taunting him (and the girls). He knows that he has full control over Cloud right now, and he's rubbing it in their faces.
At 9:01 aerith literally says its fake, das y sephirot gave it back
I know people have complained over the years Sephiroth’s been made too obsessive over Cloud, but I feel like moments like this really show that can work. He LOVES torturing him, and he can use that torture to screw over the rest of the cast.
@Wolfboss7 Sephiroth can't take the black materia at this point because he isn't really there, the girls can't even see him there. He's just an image created by Jenova in Cloud's head, she needs Cloud to take the black materia and deliver it to Sephiroth's real slumbering body at the northern crater in order for the real Sephiroth's consciousness to summon meteor.
Sephiroth is Jenova's power card, but he's still Jenova's puppet nonetheless. She needs to use Sephiroth's image to intimidate Cloud, and also borrow the real Sephiroth's power to summon meteor since she isn't able to do so herself. The problem with SE is that they overplayed Sephiroth way too much till people forget Sephiroth is just Jenova's puppet, just like Cloud.
Not quite. There is the Watashi (I, gender neutral Sephiroth JENOVA, and the "Ore" Sephiroth) The Ore Sephiroth is the Whispers Sephiroth. But that Sephiroth is using JENOVA's plan to create The Undying Infinity World passed Reunion. Basically Heaven. Meteor will end these World Fragments and Feed them to Infinity as One World that is Undying.@@KrelianLoke
The way Cloud said "Aerith" on the chasing scene is so creepy. Cody did a phenomenal job on voicing controlled Cloud. You can also tell by his voice when Cloud has snapped out from Sephiroth's control. He made this scene so amazing!!!
Definitely got possessed Jack from The Shining vibes.
Of course, this is giving homage to The Shining.

Cloud sounds really creepy when he’s chasing Aerith
Right ? This had some cool drama
He literally sounds like a psychopathic killer taunting his prey, and it doesn't help that we're controlling Cloud to chase after Aerith

@@sanddry738 ohhh it absolutely will be. they will focus and further explore Cloud's fucked up mental state, as we have already seen here when Cloud becomes a puppet of Sephiroth
Cloud laughing is scary like Batman's
I was not expecting Cloud to laught this menacingly and also to have suck a dark smirk while taking the black materia...Being evil from time to time is good tho :D
Cool little gameplay detail is that if you try backtracking and turning around, the game keeps you forward, and actually pulls you forward a little bit. I love this detail cause it nails home that Cloud has zero control over himself, whether he realizes it or not.
That’s really cool detail because I think even in the OG something similar happened where you would still get dragged. (I think it was the kid manifestation of Cloud not being able to reach someone?)
Iirc in the OG you can only control "ghost" Cloud (his consciousness?) while Cloud body actually pummels Aerith without mercy
5:36
I just realised that he uses Sephiroth’s fighting stance in this scene
He does it at the Gongaga reactor as well, when he singlehandedly slaughtered an entire troop.
At one point he even swaps his sword to his left hand to impale a guy.
Cloud finally using his Jenova-Mako strength. He does feel kinda underpowered in the Remake, whereas Sephiroth who has the same buffs as him could accomplish so much more
@@Laterose15 I just noticed, nice catch!

"Besides, theres no point fighting over a fake." "No. You're trying to fool me."
Ngl i think this was such an intense moment and im shocked not more people are talking about it.
Isn't it a fake though? We see the entire temple shrink like in the original (and this time they don't know about it, because how could they?) and drop into the crater, it sounds insanely heavy when it lands. But no one pays it any mind. So this thing's gotta be a fake, right? But yeah, was a real good scene.
@@Xbob42it is a fake. When it rolls to Sephiroth at 15:40, he confirms it is the key to unlocking the real one, which he acquires moments later at 18:54. Notice how the Black materia here has lightning inside it. Cloud was imagining Sephiroth in this scenario since he's not actually there. This is probably why Cloud has it in the final cutscene.
@@shineon9715 pretty sure Sephiroth was actually there since the entire party noticed him pick up the Black Materia as well as the fact that Aerith specifically told him to give it back.
As for the black materia, Sephiroth could’ve easily just slipped it back to Cloud’s possession during the time where they both flew through that weird bright tunnel showing the multiple tomelines
@iam4026 Sephiroth turns into Jenova at multiple points in the story while the party mistakenly thinks it's actually him. I don't think it's outlandish to interpret that the one we see here is also another imitation. If he's real, then why not just take the black materia and fly away instead of giving it back to Cloud. It makes more sense for this to just be another Jenova/Black Whisper encounter since it would explain how Cloud has it by the end of the game. We know the real, physical Sephiroth is frozen up north, which is where Cloud should presumably hand it over.
I really thought, "Oh no, here we go again!" based on what happened with Tifa earlier 😅
I like how Sephiroth HAD the Black Materia, but because he wanted to either toy with Cloud more, or didn’t like the fact that he got it from Barret last, he reforms the Black Materia, drops it down to Cloud, and tells him to hand it back to him.

Sephiroth dropping the orb so cloud picks it up and hands It back was so fucked. I love it.

How can ANYONE deny this is the best series in the whole franchise? Sure, if they remake 6 that might change, but 7 it's still by far the most developed, profitable and popular FF title in history!

Things like this are only possible in video games. Such a genuinely cool gameplay mechanic.
I’m waiting for my copy of the game but I have to work also so here I am watching spoilers. I see Nobuo really did what he said he would and is finally showing us the extent of Jenova’s power over Cloud. Cloud, the perfect clone of Sephiroth can be controlled to do whatever Sephiroth needs. This is so good and adds so much depth to the original.
Would've been perfect had they skipped the multiverses/fate ghosts bs
@@capslock956 I mean it makes sense given the power of Sephiroth
The think I don’t get is the why in only the temple of anicents cloud becomes fully under sephiroth influence 90% of the temple he was not himself
@@passion4pets513 because that’s where the Black Materia is. Apparently Sephiroth couldn’t go in there alone, he needed Cloud to get it for him. Also I’m not sure if they’re still going with this but Sephiroth isn’t really Sephiroth, it’s Jenova appearing as him. They’ve kinda showed this a lot in Remake when Cloud would think of Sephiroth and he would appear.
@capslock956 can be applied to Remake, Rebirth and Reunion when it comes out. The whole multiverse and ghosts bs is convoluted and adds nothing to the story, otherwise there are soo many great things to love in those games.
Oh my God... I feel terribly sorry for Cloud... and it makes me to hate Sephiroth and that bastard Hojo even more!
I mean, how mad can you be to think you're destined to rule the Planet and enjoy the suffering of the others or to do inhuman experiments with no sense of moral?! Maybe those two find it normal, but the people like Cloud are suffering from this crap... I hope to see the part in the sequel where he's released from Sephiroth's mental grasp.
It's Jenova always has been
Seeing Cloud act so cold and absolutely batsh*t crazy chasing after Aerith like that was horrifying and sad. Even the way he was running after Aerith was creepy.

19:52 now that's straight up a horror movie scene.
So, can anyone explain to me why Aerith just gives the Black Materia to Cloud? That confused me so much. Yeah I know she's afraid of what Cloud could do to her, but I mean, it's literal fate of the world at steak, send it to Barret or Tifa with magic or something. I'm so confused. Also, is Black materia a fake and a key to the real on or is it not? If the Temple isn't the Black Materia in Rebirth, like it was in the OG, so why does it implode on itself? Those are some burning questions that I have and they confuse me to no end.
wonder how they'll react to Cait Sith being Reeve in Part 3
they made red sound like sonic the hedgehog? thats dope i guess
When Red first meets the party, he uses a more mature voice to make himself seem tough and wise. After Cosmo Canyon, he uses his real voice. In the Japanese version of FFVII, Red spoke in a completely different way after this, which was lost in translation back in the day.
So in the original, the temple of the ancients WAS the black materia, and had to be shrunk down.
In this version, the black materia is already the materia inside the temple.
Kinda removes the impact of the temples collapse.
I think the one in the Temple, as Aerith said, is in fact a fake and a trap so it's very much likely the Temple is still the Black Materia.
Uh, did you miss the part where the entire temple shrinks into a small mass and falls into the crater? I think that IS still the black materia, and this one IS a fake.
Scratch what I said, I forgotten that Cloud pocketed it.
Sephiroth literally spells it out: “This is the key to the true counterpart hidden between worlds”
Holy what the hell is wrong with cloud he so crazy
Three words, mako-Sephiroth-Jenova
Cloud is controlled of Sephiroth
Welcome to FF7
20:32 This scene and voice acting is so boss, there’s moments when Cloud is chasing Aerith that you can hear is true self, as if he’s begging Sephiroth to let him go, or Sephiroth is using his vulnerability to lure in Aerith, it’s just awesome all around. This scene was amazing in showing Sephiroth s control over Cloud and I’m so glad with how it turned out.
Yea best scene in the game for me
Cloud that is controlled by Sephiroth is,really creepy!
Seems petty for Sephiroth to drop it and make Cloud give it to him, when he already had it.
this game made me cry over a moogle puppet
I read that when Cloud pursues Aerith for the black materia, you cannot move away from her. This whole scene really shows that not only is Cloud no longer in control of his own actions, YOU are not either. Sephiroth is in full control of Cloud even moreso than the player, and not only is he relishing in it, there is nothing the player can do about it.

What’s the OST names?
I like Aerith's more mature, serious voice. wish she'd be using it more often instead of the squeaky voice.
The changes they did is to similar to Final Fantasy XIV there's a faction in that series that practically wants to rejoin all the shards of the original worlds they turned sephiroth into that I find it cool but I also wonder was this the original intention of the character???
What does black material thing to do or something mysterious please explain me

You can use black materials to create things like black clothing or black arts and crafts
this is really good. if nintendo ever decides to put this amount of story in zelda omg..
What is that sword!? Cloud has!
So this is actually edge of creation sephiroth. The real black materia is formed after all worlds merge? Is reunion actually the event where all cetra reuinte with the planet? Man this game changes so much. Cloud has the true black materia in the end cutscene, and we know he seems to be stuck between what seems to be, the real world, and aeirths dream space. Sephirth doesnt fear aerith at all, he knows fate wont help her to save the world anymore.
Aerith obviously has something else planned and thats just what i cant get my head around. Aerith doesnt seem upset at all that the gang cant see her at the end of the game, this is the aerith from the end of advent children. Shes been around for a long time watching over every1. We see it in the opening scene of remake, and see it again when shes sitting next to cloud after they lower her body into water. The green glow of mako on her face and the ff7 remake opening music breifly plays.
I think it all leads back to zack. But how? Why is cloud ok with seeing aerith? And why is he ok with being stuck between 2 worlds? Is he just completely lost? So many questions to be answered in part 3
Incredible game
I don't understand, sephiroth could grab black materia, why bother throwing to cloud so he just give him back?
Nah I think it is just to fuck with Cloud and show everyone else how he can control him. It’s hella degrading.
@@samoyed7895 You're exactly right
This part is confusing...dont know why Sephiroth would do this. Also, how Cloud still have Black Materia at the ending scene?
Sephiroth believes that he is above everything, just because he found out that he was a created supersoldier made from Jenova, who he sees as his real mother. He has fallen into a delusion that he and Jenova should be ruling the Planet that is supposed to belong to them. He is flexing over Cloud right down to manipulating his mind because he wants to show that Cloud can bend to his will, and to the others that they are all beneath him. To those who've played the game, knows what happened to Cloud, he essentially still has the same cells as Sephiroth, but was a failed experiment to Hojo.
I take it certain events have to happen and it's cloud that gives sephiroth the black materia in the og game.

Sephiroth isn't there to actually physically take the black materia, his presence only exists in Cloud's head. Sephiroth (Jenova) is pushing for Cloud to physically take the black materia and deliver it to his slumbering body at the northern crater. Notice the rest of the party are not panicking about Sephiroth because they don't see him, they only see Cloud having a bad headache.
By the way, all these Sephiroths we see so far are just Jenova exploiting Sephiroth's image inside Cloud's brain to intimidate Cloud, stringing both Sephiroth and Cloud like puppets.

In the OG the true black Materia was the temple itself, which you could only get after sacrificing the life of someone, idk what happened in this version tho
@@hydreigonLol In this version the Black Materia is physically in the temple, but taking it causes the temple to collapse with the new idea being the Ancients designed it to wipe out any group that tried to take it so that nobody could ever have it and summon Meteor, instead of just having to sacrifice someone to get it. It also changed it so that the Ancients didn't actually create the Black Materia itself and just got possession of it and sealed it away. Which honestly I'm fine with as a change as the Ancients building a doom weapon they never wanted used and putting it with a safety that anyone suitably evil enough to summon Meteor would have zero qualms about doing just sounded like a bad idea.

Really lame they changed it, guess they were afraid of how modern audiences would react
they had Cloud almost kill Tifa earlier in the game, i doubt that’s the reason
This comment is what happens when you let American feminism live rent-free in your head. Most of the planet, including the dev team that put Tifa in a bikini with a "revealing" neckline, does not bother with this shit.
It's simple, they're trying to balance both favours between FF purists and those who don't really care. They should've stuck to Aerith not dying, but even they couldn't figure that out. Too difficult for them to creatively go in that direction.
@AlesSimoncia not comparable since she practically dodged his attack when cloud was tryna swing his sword towards her. He didn't even touch her or anything because she fell into the mako pool. I think the og cloud wails on aerith so this moment was definitely changed for modern audiences no doubt
because modern audiences would surely hate on Cloud if the devs kept that moment where he is beating on Aerith. like, they might call him a sadist or something lmaoooo
why does the black materia even exists, why would the planet make a suicide materia? For the plot i guess...
they explained this earlier at Cosmo Canyon, the Gi tribe (who are aliens too) made it by corrupting a materia as a means to free themselves from their torment, because their spirits were barred from entering Gaia's Lifestream after they died and the Cetra refused to intervene for them
Uh, the planet didn't make it. The Gi tribe did. Did you even pay attention?

But yeah, whether he did or not, I was surprised that scene was cut. 😂
@@Rkader11u ok there?

I need to stop watching all these TH-cam video 🥲
Me too 😅
Why did sephiroth drop it then ask cloud to give it back to him?
He is showing everyone how he can control cloud
So they change the Cloud beating Aerith scene from the original game
Dude Sephiroth isn’t there for any of this. Everyone is paying attention to Cloud but no one is acknowledging that Sephiroth is even there
Aerith does and lunges at him to get the Materia back, which would suggest he's actually there in some form at least at the beginning.
@@bob1986 This is sometime after your comment, but Tifa lunges at Cloud. Aerith has a realization that Sephiroth is manipulating Cloud in the moment. I do not think
Aerith would give Cloud the black materia with Sephiroth right behind him. It’s just my take on it I definitely could be wrong
@@tannerlarson8285 Having replayed the game again, I noticed there's several points where Cloud sees Sephiroth but everyone else is shown to be seeing one of the blacked caped guys (or in Kalm, the innkeeper) which would indicate that while only Cloud sees Sephiroth as himself everyone else still sees someone there so Cloud's not just talking to empty air. From their perspective they're talking to one of the Mako poisoned copies.
@@bob1986 yes my man! I feel the same regarding the scene with the midgardsormr. We could be wrong, but I’m looking forward to where this story goes
