And so- he listened to the puppet-master...Even thought Tifa said the exact same thing as Sephiroth, Cloud pushed Tifa as if she was something pestering him from showing off to Sephiroth ToT
He does it at the Gongaga reactor as well, when he singlehandedly slaughtered an entire troop. At one point he even swaps his sword to his left hand to impale a guy.
Cloud finally using his Jenova-Mako strength. He does feel kinda underpowered in the Remake, whereas Sephiroth who has the same buffs as him could accomplish so much more
Some changes I don’t agree with but I will say I absolutely love how hard they’re focusing on cloud’s issues. And while I still don’t like Sephiroth’s Voice, the rest of the crew is perfect. Cloud’s especially goddamn. Sephiroth dropping the orb so cloud picks it up and hands It back was so fucked. I love it.

"Besides, theres no point fighting over a fake." "No. You're trying to fool me." Ngl i think this was such an intense moment and im shocked not more people are talking about it.
Isn't it a fake though? We see the entire temple shrink like in the original (and this time they don't know about it, because how could they?) and drop into the crater, it sounds insanely heavy when it lands. But no one pays it any mind. So this thing's gotta be a fake, right? But yeah, was a real good scene.
@@Xbob42it is a fake. When it rolls to Sephiroth at 15:40, he confirms it is the key to unlocking the real one, which he acquires moments later at 18:54. Notice how the Black materia here has lightning inside it. Cloud was imagining Sephiroth in this scenario since he's not actually there. This is probably why Cloud has it in the final cutscene.
@@shineon9715 pretty sure Sephiroth was actually there since the entire party noticed him pick up the Black Materia as well as the fact that Aerith specifically told him to give it back. As for the black materia, Sephiroth could’ve easily just slipped it back to Cloud’s possession during the time where they both flew through that weird bright tunnel showing the multiple tomelines
@iam4026 Sephiroth turns into Jenova at multiple points in the story while the party mistakenly thinks it's actually him. I don't think it's outlandish to interpret that the one we see here is also another imitation. If he's real, then why not just take the black materia and fly away instead of giving it back to Cloud. It makes more sense for this to just be another Jenova/Black Whisper encounter since it would explain how Cloud has it by the end of the game. We know the real, physical Sephiroth is frozen up north, which is where Cloud should presumably hand it over.
@@dawsonslone it'll be fun to see that no battle took place Cloud and Aerith gave in and Sephiroth handed Cloud the Materia again for asserting dominance
At 9:02 when Aerith called the Black Materia a fake, I think she was right because if one played or knows the story of the original, then they would know that the Temple itself is the Black Materia. In the original, every time a puzzle is solved in the Temple, it would shrink and eventually crush anyone still inside preventing anyone from trying to get the Black Materia. The party realises that the puzzles can only be solved within the Temple itself and that Sephiroth can sacrifice one of the many clones to get the Black Materia so Cait Sith sacrifices himself (since he has spare bodies due to being a robot) whilst everyone else escaped and for them to get the Materia first.
Yup. The one inside the temple is the fake one. After the temple imploded, we didn't see cuz Cloud was loosing it, but Cloud at some point after that hid the real Black Materia inside his pocket or/then sword. He doesn't know he had done it nor when he had it.
Wow seeing cloud act like this in HD is honestly scary lol. The va killed it. Esp him creepily staggering after aerith and calling out to her with that laugh...they nailed it! Tho..i do wish aerith didnt just hand it right back over to cloud after all that. I get why they wouldnt keep it exactly like the OG (him beating her) but this way just felt ehh
In the OG, Cloud beats Aerith up (pushes her to the ground and starts pummeling her) so it's interesting to see how they mitigated that scenario. Would have been scary to see what Cloud would have done if Aerith didn't give it to him.
I got chills when the OG temple of the ancients theme started playing when the party was escaping the crumbling temple... Such an awesome music cue I was not expecting to hear it
i noticed aerith’s voice is layered when she argues with seph. could be multiple aeriths from diff timelines converging? the lifestream did appear when she was talking
Considering the remake is about that small thing that is not small at all(which makes Remake into a non-remake)? The small thing being a different timeline set on combining all timelines, one where she is dead and alive, one where Zack is dead and alive, one where Biggs is dead to save Cloud and one where Biggs is alive because of Zack choice. And also Sephiroth versions, each with a different "symbol". On each timeline, mind you. So one on OG, one on Advent Children, one on Crisis Core.
I think they should have gone down a route where sephiroth and Aerith find a way to send their spirits back in time, but both corrupted the other, making them both enemies at the end.
they did a good job changing the original, instead of just giving up the black materia, and beating Aerith, his pursuit and constant reassurances are much creepier.
remember yall cait sith isnt actually a bot each one is controlled by reeves but theyre also independent sentient creatures RIP cait sith 1 too many main characters dying fr
Spoilers: For people asking why Sephiroth is giving the Black Materia back to Cloud, its because he isn't actually there. He is a manifestation through Jenova's cells. The real Sephiroth is at the Northern Crator waiting for Cloud to deliver the Black Materia.
Why do people keep pushing this when it's clear remake world has different rules and the Sephiroth with the wing is the future advent children aware Sephiroth?
For those who played the OG, that message with the black materia Also showed that it was fake and if it follows the story, the real one is the temple itself
@@blackraven3436i mean Sephiroth sumoned the real one but it wasent the temple i think, i dont understand whats going in this scene then i thought i did
Actually it's more likely considering what he summoned with the Black Materia that this is a whisper manifestation under Sephiroth's control; this happened earlier in the game with something Jenovaroth originally did in the OG so it's not out of the question. *Especially* when you consider both the party can all see him and the whisper form is always the one with a black wing, sometimes appearing without. The whisper form was is a thing confirmed in the Rebirth Ultimania translations and directly confirms that this is how the party all fought him at the end of Remake; specifically saying they all see him as Sephiroth. Plus there's nothing saying a Jenova manifestation couldn't just fly away after getting it. Jenovaroth did that many times in the OG, in fact the original version of this scene that is exactly what happened. He wanted to make Cloud give it to him because he enjoys messing with him and making Cloud feel helpless. After all, it is implied that he is well aware that Cloud brings him the Black Materia to the Northern Crater and has been trying to push him away from the rest of the team sooner than originally
I think one thing that gets me (and I haven't heard anyone talk about this yet) is that, while Cloud is being forced to walk towards Sephiroth, you can hear in his breathing that being possessed is either painful or dreadfully unpleasant. Plus, when he so desperately drops to his knees for the Black Materia, and then begs Aerith to give it back, he looks really, really sick. You can see him tugging weakly against Tifa until Sephiroth asserts control over him again (delightful touch) and he shoves Tifa off easily. Then, he says thank you to Aerith for giving him the materia without a fight, and it may just be my hopeful thinking, but I think he was aware enough for that. Can't imagine Sephiroth genuinely thanking anyone. This is one of the few videos I've seen that show Cloud twisting like a marionette if the player tries resisting moving forward. I was HORRIFIED the first time I saw it, and I got a bit sick to my stomach just watching. I can't imagine what that had to have felt like, resisting with everything you have, and moving anyway. Truly awful to see. All in all, a fantastic moment that makes me hate Sephiroth all the more.
How can ANYONE deny this is the best series in the whole franchise? Sure, if they remake 6 that might change, but 7 it's still by far the most developed, profitable and popular FF title in history!
Just because it definitely wasn’t clear in this scene, Sephiroth was not here. Only Cloud acknowledged Sephiroth but Aerith says Whispers. That’s what they all see except Cloud. Pay attention to everyone in the scene, no one else even once acknowledged Sephiroth, even Tifa who was literally on the same platform as them.
They do acknowledge Sephiroth at the beginning when he appears to take the fake Black Materia. After that though, it's possible you're right. Which could be even more creepy for Cloud.
Oh my God... I feel terribly sorry for Cloud... and it makes me to hate Sephiroth and that bastard Hojo even more! I mean, how mad can you be to think you're destined to rule the Planet and enjoy the suffering of the others or to do inhuman experiments with no sense of moral?! Maybe those two find it normal, but the people like Cloud are suffering from this crap... I hope to see the part in the sequel where he's released from Sephiroth's mental grasp.
I’m waiting for my copy of the game but I have to work also so here I am watching spoilers. I see Nobuo really did what he said he would and is finally showing us the extent of Jenova’s power over Cloud. Cloud, the perfect clone of Sephiroth can be controlled to do whatever Sephiroth needs. This is so good and adds so much depth to the original.
@@passion4pets513 because that’s where the Black Materia is. Apparently Sephiroth couldn’t go in there alone, he needed Cloud to get it for him. Also I’m not sure if they’re still going with this but Sephiroth isn’t really Sephiroth, it’s Jenova appearing as him. They’ve kinda showed this a lot in Remake when Cloud would think of Sephiroth and he would appear.
@capslock956 can be applied to Remake, Rebirth and Reunion when it comes out. The whole multiverse and ghosts bs is convoluted and adds nothing to the story, otherwise there are soo many great things to love in those games.
Seeing Cloud act so cold and absolutely batsh*t crazy chasing after Aerith like that was horrifying and sad. Even the way he was running after Aerith was creepy.
When Red first meets the party, he uses a more mature voice to make himself seem tough and wise. After Cosmo Canyon, he uses his real voice. In the Japanese version of FFVII, Red spoke in a completely different way after this, which was lost in translation back in the day.
So, can anyone explain to me why Aerith just gives the Black Materia to Cloud? That confused me so much. Yeah I know she's afraid of what Cloud could do to her, but I mean, it's literal fate of the world at steak, send it to Barret or Tifa with magic or something. I'm so confused. Also, is Black materia a fake and a key to the real on or is it not? If the Temple isn't the Black Materia in Rebirth, like it was in the OG, so why does it implode on itself? Those are some burning questions that I have and they confuse me to no end.
Someone should make a horror game or horror map for VRChat where it's you in a dark corridor, with Puppet Cloud (or Sephiroth if you prefer) chasing you.
The fact that, due to who Cloud and Sephiroth's VAs are, I could make several Teen Wolf jokes about five people will understand out of this one scene is amazing.
So in the original, the temple of the ancients WAS the black materia, and had to be shrunk down. In this version, the black materia is already the materia inside the temple. Kinda removes the impact of the temples collapse.
Uh, did you miss the part where the entire temple shrinks into a small mass and falls into the crater? I think that IS still the black materia, and this one IS a fake.
I read that when Cloud pursues Aerith for the black materia, you cannot move away from her. This whole scene really shows that not only is Cloud no longer in control of his own actions, YOU are not either. Sephiroth is in full control of Cloud even moreso than the player, and not only is he relishing in it, there is nothing the player can do about it.
If Sephiroth is so powerful he can go into other universes, why does he still need the Black Materia like in the OG? Wasn’t he trying to defy destiny and create a whole new future?
There is something i dont understand why didn't tifa and the rest of them restrain cloud if i saw my friend being brainwashed by some homicidal psychopath i wouldn't just let them walk up to the psycho
The original scene was already disturbing enough so of course this version would crank the horror up to eleven. The Black Materia may be scary, intimidating, and powerful, but it ain’t as cool and powerful as a Chaos Emerald though. But that’s just coming from someone who’s hyperfixated on Chaos Emeralds instead of Materia.
when Cloud is under Sephiroths control its a lil scary to hear him beg aerith to sounding dead and back. he even sounds so relieved when aerith does hand it over to him. the voice acting is incredible
I mean, the dude took a slash at Tifa with the buster sword and proceeded to then kick her into the reactor so they weren’t shying away from anything. It’s already implied in this game that Aerith is aware of the original timeline (with speculation that this is the Aerith from the original timeline) and she is well aware of what Cloud was going to do to her if she didn’t surrender the black materia so it makes sense in context.

That’s cloud laughing, not Sephiroth
I think it was fake and then the moment sephiroth held it he manifested the real one when he made cloud picked it up
Yup. The one inside the temple is the fake one. After the temple imploded, we didn't see cuz Cloud was loosing it, but Cloud at some point after that hid the real Black Materia inside his pocket or/then sword. He doesn't know he had done it nor when he had it.

i noticed aerith’s voice is layered when she argues with seph. could be multiple aeriths from diff timelines converging? the lifestream did appear when she was talking
I thought it would be the cetras speaking through her. They had similiar voices.
I think they should have gone down a route where sephiroth and Aerith find a way to send their spirits back in time, but both corrupted the other, making them both enemies at the end.

Spoilers:
For people asking why Sephiroth is giving the Black Materia back to Cloud, its because he isn't actually there.
For those who played the OG, that message with the black materia
Also showed that it was fake and if it follows the story, the real one is the temple itself
@@everlastingflames13 a whisper form?
Gee, thanks Barret.
Lol yeah that was reckless
How can ANYONE deny this is the best series in the whole franchise? Sure, if they remake 6 that might change, but 7 it's still by far the most developed, profitable and popular FF title in history!
wonder how they'll react to Cait Sith being Reeve in Part 3
They really should’ve considered giving “Puppet Cloud” the slit pupils like Sephiroth. It would have made it more dramatic
EXACTLY. Just like in Advent Children.
It could still happen in part 3 at the northern crater with a accompanied boss fight hopefully
@EvelynL.1112 when did that happen?
Sephiroth!Cloud: Come on Aerith! I just want the Orb! Please?! I promise I won’t kill you if you do…
Just because it definitely wasn’t clear in this scene, Sephiroth was not here.
This is wrong Aerith literally runs up to and tries to grab it from Sephiroth's hand. Y'all just be TALKING.
I love that when u try to go back it's like seeing what little resistance Cloud can muster
Things like this are only possible in video games. Such a genuinely cool gameplay mechanic.

It's Jenova always has been
I’m waiting for my copy of the game but I have to work also so here I am watching spoilers. This is so good and adds so much depth to the original.
Would've been perfect had they skipped the multiverses/fate ghosts bs
@@capslock956 I mean it makes sense given the power of Sephiroth
The think I don’t get is the why in only the temple of anicents cloud becomes fully under sephiroth influence 90% of the temple he was not himself
@@passion4pets513 because that’s where the Black Materia is. Apparently Sephiroth couldn’t go in there alone, he needed Cloud to get it for him.

Would be a slasher horror if you had control of Aerith in a dark corridor in the temple and cloud creeping behind.
Someone should make a horror game or horror map for VRChat where it's you in a dark corridor, with Puppet Cloud (or Sephiroth if you prefer) chasing you.
21:11 Nah, the way he said Aerith just chilled me to the bone.
19:52 now that's straight up a horror movie scene.

Three words, mako-Sephiroth-Jenova
Cloud is controlled of Sephiroth
Welcome to FF7
So in the original, the temple of the ancients WAS the black materia, and had to be shrunk down.
In this version, the black materia is already the materia inside the temple.
Kinda removes the impact of the temples collapse.
I think the one in the Temple, as Aerith said, is in fact a fake and a trap so it's very much likely the Temple is still the Black Materia.
Uh, did you miss the part where the entire temple shrinks into a small mass and falls into the crater? I think that IS still the black materia, and this one IS a fake.
Scratch what I said, I forgotten that Cloud pocketed it.
Sephiroth literally spells it out: “This is the key to the true counterpart hidden between worlds”

That OST is majestic
Barrett should have shot the orb after taking it from Cloud. You had one job Barrett! 🤦♂️
Love the way sephiroth said "This is BUT a homecoming"! right b4 the fight
My interpretation: It's not the Black Materia. He'll say it is to fuck with the party and us but this seems to be a different spell than Meteor.
@@catkaboodleexactly why would Cloud put it into the sword or Aerith just be like eh f u c k it here you go

Sephiroths whispers were likely stopping them all, as they stopped Tifa the instant she went after him
The original scene was already disturbing enough so of course this version would crank the horror up to eleven. The Black Materia may be scary, intimidating, and powerful, but it ain’t as cool and powerful as a Chaos Emerald though. But that’s just coming from someone who’s hyperfixated on Chaos Emeralds instead of Materia.
Seems petty for Sephiroth to drop it and make Cloud give it to him, when he already had it.

I knew they hadn't the balls to let Cloud attack Arith, but it was a nice bait.
It's a bigger assertion of dominance if Clouds homies are compliant
Yeah no way it would be allowed, well not that it wouldn’t be allowed but more so it wouldn’t have been able to dodge the 18+ rating
