To clarify, my purpose for this device is to be able to easily plug my Switch into different Tv's & Monitors temporarily. The team at Genki seems to have put a lot of effort to ensure a safe dock that has no increased risk of bricking the Switch over the OEM dock. With that said I will never leave my Switch on a 3rd party dock, my Switch always goes back onto the original dock when not being used. This is just a portable solution for me to temporarily plug into a different TV from where I normally have my Switch.
@@DanielFriedman thats kind of what my point is for its purpose. To have something easily moved around and taken with me to use out of the norm. Travel fits exactly that.
Thanks for the review! The weight was the prototype weight during our KS but we had to add a few things for additional heat dissipation, its been updated!
I got a €29 off-brand version of this on Amazon. Also works for outputting and charging tablet to TV. I was worried because it says it's up to 30watt and the Nintendo charger is 39watt so 30% less. But it still charges while playing docked or handheld so it's fine. I think the 9 missing watts is just from having 2 less usb ports
I got mine in what I believe was the first shipment and have been using it every day since. No issues so if people are worried about bricking I’ve used one as long as anyone and it’s been fine. I don’t like the Bluetooth adapter though. I found pairing with it to be confusing and it just kind of lives on my shelf not being used.
Got mine back in early December and I use it a lot. Definitely one of my favorite docks for the Switch. Edit: the Satisfye Grip works great with it because you don't need a stand with it.
That’s one of the reasons I wanted to get this actually. Lol. Then I can play docked without removing the grip. I like racing it on a bit more since I like using that case also.

If there was a official Nintendo version of this adapter, I buy it in a heartbeat. Despite as minimum as the risk is, I can't justify the risk. especially in the current market value of switches. I did a custom blue and white Sega theme for my switch, and it's the first now console I purchase since the Dreamcast. So I'll be sticking to my reshelled mini official dock and power supply. Still a great video and I love the concept.
Got mine yesterday everything's working great also fixed the annoying screen flicker that the original switch dock had when using 1080p on a 4k hdtv I highly recommend it 👌
So if it doesn't come with that easel stand, do they really intend for your Switch to just be lying on it's back while you use this? I always thought blocking the airflow on electronics was BAD. So now I have to buy ANOTHER thing to pack around. Suddenly this seems less than convenient.

No because the switch light does not have the video out capability at usb-c jack, it has been tried using original docks in the past and proven that u can not get video out on the light
I didn't read all comments here, but i bet, here are people which asks if this can be used with a switch lite xD If not, don't ask this. The switch lite can't be used with a dock because it don't have an output chip. And you know that.
The reason other ones namely the Nyko bricked Switch's was because they weren't conforming to the Switch power standards, which Genki states these do and don't carry any higher risk of bricking over your original dock. Can I prove that? Nope.... but I think these guys have shown they put in a lot of time and research to ensure this dock was safe and high quality. I don't recommend this or any other 3rd party dock over the original dock, but for my purposes it has served me well and is convenient.
You are the first one i have heard since the covert dock was released. Maybe you had your switch broken for any number of reasons, maybe it was a faulty dock. What exactly happened to you?
As cool as this device is, I wouldn't buy it. The Switch is quite temperamental when it comes to third party docks. Thankfully my fiance and I have three Switch docks so I won't have to resort to using a third party one. Great video though!

Yep, exactly my use case as well. I don't plan to ever leave my Switch asleep and plugged into HDMI with this.

Just got mine today. That stand for $20 is much better than the stuff i can buy in the store which costs even more.

I dunno. I have the BT receiver and Genki is kinda Janky. Never wants to connect & getting the thing to work right takes some time.

The standard dock can scratch your display. That's the reason why it is recommended to use a screenprotector ;)
