Glad to see that you weren't selfish and left some mushrooms for another day or for someone else's enjoyment. As a veteran mushroom forager (over 20 years) that is wonderful to see! That's what I do! I never take any more than I can actually use. If my "find" is past its prime and no longer edible, I will sometimes take a sample and "plant it" on an identical species of fallen tree in the hopes of a future harvest for me or someone else. Anyway, congrats on a fun-to-watch video.

I have local oysters now. They grow in a big cluster of a few dozen attached. Your variety could have blown in from miles away.

Love the foraging content! I thought they were oysters at first glance too! I love those mushrooms.

I believe you are totally wrong on the identification of these shrooms. I do not believe these are polyphores at all. I have lived in Costa Rica for 20 years and see these mushrooms quite a bit. Only a true expert would be able to identify these. They resemble oyster mushrooms. So do angels wings, which have killed many people in Japan. Best to start collecting shrooms that have no toxic look alikes!

1:57 clearly shows that they are not oysters. The mushrooms have large, irregular pores not gills. This rules out both oysters and angels wings.
