I’ve just started my education in mushroom identification, and have perused several TH-cam channels. But this video has been the most instructive I’ve come across. The structure you’ve outlined has opened my eyes to how best to describe what to look for is amazing. I’m a scientist and am always looking for ways of describing what I see. These tools that you’ve outlined will give me a structure for my notebooks. Thank you so very much to this video, which I will repeatedly watch and take notes on. I look forward to seeing much more of your channel. Keep up the awesome work!
Interesting , I'm just wanting to learn how to identify and forage wat is natural. I have chronic lime and started by searching for medicinal types but soon became curious as to what i was finding , otherwise .
Thank you very informative I appreciate you identifying the anatomy of the mushrooms in ways that are simple to understand comparing parts to every day objects you didn't get to scientific thanks again
I'm skeptical about self proclaimed scientist. Its like me saying I'm a traveling spelling bee master. Scientist that I know always have a book. At least one, usually 2 or more. Relying on you tube is lazy. Its for those of us that don't read books. I kinda read books, I order posters of mushrooms and hang them on the wall, I know good idea right? But only if it has Cortina partial value on it. This person is a really awesome teacher, I've learned a lot from her.
It is absolutely STAGGERING that fungi were not recognized as its own kingdom until the 70s and quite humbling how little we understand about those mostly invisible lifeforms that bridge the gap between micro and macro organisms making up some of the smallest and the de facto largest organisms in the entire world. As a biologist fungi are one of the few remaining frontiers in our field where you can literally make a new discovery every single day just by taking a walk in your local woods or examining a simple soil sample.
I admire any person's ability to speak clearly, without vocal pauses, without reference to notes, to stay on topic, and to create a personal experience in the listener. This video has all this in spades. I can't help but wonder, if to some degree, this thoroughly interesting, well-paced, and easy listening piece, has been over some period of time, the result of psilocybin ingestions itself. I have read that mental clarity, confidence, and simple stage presence, can be augmented via psilocybin. If this is true, this is surely a great example of some of the associated benefits. A natural setting, an even more natural speaker, and voila, something so greatly in tune with the subject matter, that I cannot wait for Spring to apply what I have learned. Congrats!
This video was incredible! This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you for making it. It’s amazing that this quality of information is just on TH-cam.
Thank you for this video series. While aware of the basics, nobody explains mycology as clearly as you do without dumbing doe to a simpler level.👏🏻 Spores be with you!
Very interesting how you explain the different parts of mushrooms. The photos that are shown help a lot to understand the different features. Looking forward to the second part ;) .
Wowzzers this young lady is a master she is perhaps the best biology presenter I have had the good fortune to hear in my life of interest in this most exciting field of the sciences.
Having foraged with elders from a kid this video was still a brand new way of looking at the features to me. Knowing where they come from makes them pop out more and helps sort the information needed for identification. Thanks!

This was a great video! I saw the length at first, and almost passed (I have ADD, so shorter is usually better for me to absorb). The way you broke the info down and presented multiple examples kept me focused and able to take it all in. I learned alot. Thank you; on to the next video!
Awesome video! I love how you had pictures on the side to explain the differences you were speaking about, that is a major help! Thanks for your great video
Thank you for all the videos. I know how much work it is to make such a high quality video and explain everything so well with all the pictures. I am just getting into mushroom foraging and your channel is by far the best and the only one I need to watch to feel confident on mushroom identification. and of course at least two books:) Thank you again.

Thank you for one of the most informative and fun videos about fungi and mushrooms I have watched so far! Will definately be watching it again, making notes and watching the rest of your videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
This is an amazingly educational video, Thank You. I've always wanted to learn more about identification of Mushrooms. I've been through maybe a hundred videos on youtube and none have been as nearly informing as yours. I learned more from your 28 minute video than I have from hours of research coming up with hardly anything useful. Kudos! Look forward to watching Part 2!
Oh thank you so much! You must enjoy learning in similar ways to me! I wanted to make this series because it was something I wish existed when I started mushroom foraging. I'm glad you found it so helpful.
Hey friend! I just found your TH-cam channel after getting off of Facebook and Instagram a few months ago. I love this!! And the intro to this is beautiful! I love the way you teach, and how you’re teaching the world about the mushroom superpowers! 🙌
Love the humor you bring to the discussion. Thank you for helping me forage in the woods! I really like the way you presented the information, a good marriage of stills and video. Have a great day!
Beautifully explained and presented, thank you. My wife and I see many mushrooms in the forrest near us, but are always too unsure of what they are, so never collect and eat them. However, videos like this will help boost our self-confidence in this respect.
Thank you for these lessons. Your style and grace make remembering the information pleasant. From beginning to end, I enjoyed learning what you just taught. Smiling, George.

Right before you went to fungus you said pay attention to these aspects because they are poisonous - something like that - but what are they? The rings or the scabs.
