    Ik a few of their former members have side projects rn. Soul Glo has a project with his wife called Yacht Money. Chapstique has a couple projects called Brique a Braque (instrumental piano stuff) and an alt-rock/pop project called Club Danger. Might be worth checking out.
    As for the 2 remaining Olds Brothers, I don't know if they've done anything with music recently, but they're somewhat active on Instagram. I don't think NaDaddy has had any music projects since he left FF5 and seems to be "off the grid" for lack of a better term.
    But yeah, super cool to see you cover a band that helped me discover my love alternative music. Growing up in a Christian household, I wasn't allowed to listen to much, but FF5 was the first band with "harsh vocals" I was allowed to listen to, and that definitely helped me develop my current music taste and love for heavy music.

      Crouton had a music project with his wife during lockdown called “Lipstick Kid.” Very indie bedroom pop inspired and really lovely! Their song Sunday Drive is in my regular rotation, so relaxing haha

    OH- weird fact: there's an unreleased Family Force 5 album that was recorded between Time Stand Still and the final EP. They did a whole tour (mostly of small church type venues) called something like "The Label Won't Let Us Release The Album So We're Gonna Play The Whole Thing Live For You Tour" or something like that.

      Same. I wasn't allowed to listen to rap or rock even if it was a Christian band. There was a girl in our youth group who pulled up the church listening to Thousand Foot Krutch and my dad heard it in the parking lot and told me I was never to hang out with her or talk to her outside of church.
      Unbeknownst to my dad I got a ride to a church event from her and she introduced me to family Force 5 and that was my first hooray into that kind of music. Thanks Jennifer!

    God, the hold this band had on me in middle school 😂 went to see them at this lovely little festival called Winter Jam that was kinda like a Christian warped tour lol no one ever knows who I'm talking about when I bring them up, so I'm happy to see you talk about them! Such a weird time 😂

    • @victoriawho2334

      Omg Winter Jam! Yessss!

    • @landonvincent7974
      @landonvincent7974 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Funny that you call it "little!" I remember it being touted as the "biggest tour in the world" some years ago. Apparently, according to Wikipedia, in 2011 they beat Bon Jovi, U2, Lady Gaga, Brad Paisley AND Justin Bieber in terms of attendance! And I think the fact that the tour survived COVID and is still going strong today is definitely a testament to how huge it has become. Were any of the people you mentioned it to Christian at any point? Because I'm pretty sure just about every Christian (or former Christian) not totally new to the faith and under the age of, like, 40 has at least heard of it. Just curious.

    • @theebogwitch
      @theebogwitch 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@landonvincent7974 oh yeah, it was huge. It doesn't translate well over text, but I meant "lovely little festival" in kind of a jokey way lol the arena it was in every year was basically completely full, so I definitely believe it outselling some bigger acts! I remember it being hell trying to walk around during intermission lol and I've had mixed answers when bringing it up to both Christians and non Christians alike, some know and some don't. I'm not part of the church anymore so that's probably why I've gotten more answers of people not knowing. One thing is for certain though, the majority of people I've brought FF5 up to have no idea who they are even though they were big enough at one point to be at Winter Jam 😅 might not be a Christian anymore but going to that festival every year was my introduction to live music and I'm hella appreciative for that.

I got to see Family Force 5 play at the church in town when they had a like "cool kids" week (with skate ramps and velcro walls) to get the non religious kids in. OH MAN im so happy this video showed up in my algorithm! I grew up in rural Iowa, and discovered them in high school in 2006 after a friend saw them at a Christian music festival and brought back a CD, and i LOVED Business Up Front Party In The Back!! I got really sucked in around 2008 when i finally got to see them live, and then became OBSESSED 😂 Like i bought a The Brothers CD off ebay once. Im actually impressed, you taught me a few things from this video that i didnt know! Lol. I fell off the FF5 train soon before Soul Glow left the band. This was so fun watching this video, and getting the perspective of someone trying to figure them out after the fact, as opposed to me, who had to try figure them out in real time haha! I think i saw them about 8 times live. Man what a trip this band was! Thanks for doing his video!!!

    I remember checking them out on MySpace and, like yourself, expecting a Cobra Starship like band and kind of scratching my head a bit. Got it more by the next album though... They even got featured on the Almost Alice soundtrack, which at the time felt like a huge soundtrack for the scene (made me hyped for a pretty disappointing movie!), and their track on it called Topsy Turvy was actually really great!

    Strangely enough, as a former Christian that grew up listening to southern-hip hop and pop-punk, their concept made immediate sense to me. Their style is very early 2000s Atlanta. Also, Jerome's music is reminiscent of southern soul. Southern soul is very region-specific. I'm from Alabama and it's commonly played on stations here. It's very 80s/synth sounding to this day.

    I was wondering if there was even a minute chance that you would cover this band since they seemingly had some overlap with that 2000s Warped Tour scene despite how different their sound was, but damn, the onion really goes a lot deeper than I ever imagined. I love that first album, especially as a nu-metal fan who loves seeing the genre-blending taken to its unhinged, goofy limits while still having that thumping rock backbone.

    Saw family force 5 the first time on tv. Probably when Love Addict became known. They did a short set on a fairly bare tv stage, Soul Glow was wearing his huge fist glove on one hand, their energy level was off the chart and I got them immediately! Began hunting for them on the internet, they might have been on My Space, not sure. Eventually found video somewhere and loved them ever since. Was listening to them yesterday and today, my sweetie was jamming out with me. Could care less what style you call them, just love their highly original crazy music, lyrics and musical talent all while flailing furiously! Wish they would get back together, like all their other fans! Thanks for doing a history on them - they so deserve credit for being a one of a kind super talented, much loved to this day, band ‼️

I think I saw them probably 6 times live. I had the BIGGEST crush on Josh aka Fatty. My last time I actually was a DJ on a internet radio station, and had the pleasure of interviewing them and they are the absolute nicest guys ever. We laughed a ton and had a great interview with you. You honestly can't categorize them. They have their own style. They had so many great songs. This use to be my favorite band when I was 9 and I kinda describe my relationship with that one cousin that you use to think was so cool when you were little, and then you grew out of him and just saw him as a normal dude, and then later realized how cool he was when you got older. This band got a lot of hate from the critics but they were always hilarious. Mostly everything they did was for satirical purposes and they didn’t really care about anything besides having fun with what they were doing.

    I spoke with John from JesusFreakHideout a while back and he said the reason why Dance or Die isn't on Spotify is simply because of a copyright issue. Though the album was co-released under Tooth & Nail, it's also owned by Transparent Media Group and for some reason they're the ones that have to release it on streaming. Aside from that, there's no reason I could find to why they're holding back from releasing it.

    Huh- interesting hearing about both before and after I popped in at Dance or Die and their origins. They had a thing and they were rocking it! I always loved their song "How In The World" since high school, the lyric "How in the world- did I find someone like you?" is so sweet 😊
    22:40 straight up sounding like the Beastie Boys I love it!

    There’s nothing in the world like Family Force 5 2004-2012! No one before and no one after…this stuff even to this day speaks to my soul cause it’s so much fun over the top crunk funk dance pop and live there’s nothing like it. There’s some stuff that they did live that was so nuts, hamster balls, big balloon backpacks, disco hulk hands, a super hype guy named Xanadu, and just BIG mayhem! I loved them so much!!!

    Replace me is one of my favorite songs too! And it is 100% a Christian song about giving yourself fully to God.

    Loved the video. I still enjoy listening to them after all these years (usually when I have a few brews) My sister's used to play them back when their first album came out. Imo Dance or Die goes hard as well. Their first Diamond Edition album is the one I for sure played the most though. (I believe it has 17 tracks as opposed to 12 on the original release?) now when I look back sometimes I get a Mindless Self Indulgence vibe from their old stuff.
    Oh yeah and we used to watch the Really Real show together lol TH-cam still felt so fresh and new to me back then. Crazy. (Edit: I don't know if it still exists, I haven't check yet, but I remember they did a Grandma Got Ran Over By A Reindeer video that I used to love. Gonna check to see if its still up after posting this 😂)

    i'm so jealous, i wish i was as unaffiliated with christianity as you are. what i wouldn't give to have to use google to learn about third day 😭
    when you played the walk on water clip my jaw dropped because i totally heard that song back then and it was the last thing i would've been expecting leading up to that point because that song is very of the time and was very mainstream in the scene of peppy christian music

      It’s wild seeing people who are being introduced to Family Force 5 in 2024 considering I saw them live when I was in high school.

    I always wanted to make fun of these dudes but knew I couldn’t because I liked Metro Station. There was simply no room to talk.
    Side note: I’m far from religious but P.O.D. is still one of my favorite bands to this day. Sometimes you just gotta look past it and give people a chance. Music is music.

    I LOVED FF5 back in the day! All the songs are still bops!
    I remember I was so excited to see them at Warped Tour, but my friends & i got stuck in thr LONG line to buy tickets since we lost ours & FF5 was supposed to perform early & it kept getting later and later. A vendor came by to find helpers & asked "wanna get in for free? Just hang some posters for us."
    The vendor took us through the staff entrance and all that stood between FF5 & I performing RIGHT THERE was a rinky metal fence. My little 15 year old heart started singing & staring at Soul Glow for the 5 seconds I got to see them lmao.
    Then I tried their merch booth during the day, but it was just employees, not the band.
    I was tripled pissed when at the end of the night, the vendor asked if we wanted to stay for the after show bonfire, but we needed an adult & my friend's strict mom was the one picking us up, not my cool dad 🙄 another loss of meeting them lol
    Anyway "Dance or Die" is a scene kid masterpiece and I will never stop playing it 💕✨️
