I’m amazed by Blue’s chill reaction though. My dog Bob is so scared of thunder he can’t stop panting.
Was laughing so hard about you sleeping or rather not sleeping in the driver’s seat because of that tick while you seem to be fearless about almost anything but bugs. Or should I say reckless? 😊
The most annoying is when multiple mosquitoes are inside your car in the middle of the night.

My dog would be all up in my lap with that thunder.
I learned to keep a jar of Vasoline around when I’m out in the brush. If you get a tick on you just plop a blow of Vasoline on them and they can’t move. Also if they do bite and are imbedded in your skin to smother the Vasoline around their head that’s stuck in your skin so they can’t breath. They will pull out and can’t move about so you can smash them easier. Yes, I’ve experienced this a few times. Ticks also fall off of trees and land on people and animals. So check your hair… Don’t get too freaked out though. Just brush your hair well. Yep, I have a story about that too…I’ll just keep it to myself.
Can't work or sleep during thunderstorms 'cuz they're so exciting!! It's like an awesome event that requires my full attention! I just look out the window and count "one one-thousand, two one-thousand ..." between lightning and thunder to calculate how far the lightning is, like in that Poltergeist scene haha. Oh, yes. Ticks FREAK ME OUT too. But tick season is basically over, so that one tick just hadn't gotten the message yet. ;)
Storms are beautiful. 🥰 I have Lyme from a tick bite. Thankfully it isn’t causing any problems so far. I had to take Doxycycline for months. Loving your updates from the road. ❤
Hate it for you have had Lyme and rocky mountian spotted fever got both just north of chattanooga in the same area out fishing from creek banks I love it catch some amazing fish have short rods custom made for the big boys that live there heavy line rods tackle catch some huge catfish onthe banks
Prmathen yellow can at wall mart use on truvk steps etc yse on clothes tlastes through several washings dont use on your body but is great for inside pant legs and out side use on socks boots shoes anything you wear outside would also spray inside poe on bedding anything a tick can get on it lasts a good while and defenatly gets rid or fleas ticks spiders ants roaches any crawling critter don't spray any where tii you can get out and let every thing dry a few hours for safty and never on you or blue after you spray poe and your clothes blankets pillows etc make sure it's good and dry and don't let blue lick it or area where you sprayed be patient let it dry spry on poes axels where they connect to body anywhere a bug can crawl in it works didn't find out about it till after I caught Lyme and rocky mtn fevr I always tell people about it he got anyone else to get Lyme and spotted fever had them back to back spotted then Lyme I was a sick puppy for a while I am very care full of ticks though
Hi Maria, those were some fun storms to watch. Only be careful with during an electrical storm that's close by, 1-2 miles. I had a lightning strike my router by coming in the window. Yes there was glass everywhere and the router burning. I didn't think it mattered but I remember growing up on a farm that whenever a storm was near, mom was busy unplugging things (no we should have had surge protectors) and my dad was shutting down the barn. Did we get hit, yes a few times, some trees and the weather main on top of the barn. I looked up the chances of lightning hitting a car with electronics on and it's high. Seems they attract lightning, I watched a tornado chaser get hit on the antenna and fry everything electronic inside. So be careful out there, not just with ticks, as we love ya and don't want anything to happen to you and Blue. Take care Maria and be safe.

I love thunderstorms severe thunderstorms and camping during storms is wild but I never have camped in my car or truck in the middle of the woods by myself with my dog that would be an experience. Love your vlogs.

Ah, nothing like camping out in a severe storm. my favorite moments. I love knowing there will be severe storms heading in the area later in evening, I would go get special snacks, drinks and just watch it come in slowly throughout the evening, feel the energy in the air, and once it hits, like you said, it is therapeutic. It really is, the rain, thunder, just makes you want to fall asleep peacefully. If you are comfotable that is lol

Lol you are in the front seat when you discover a tick on you and your afraid to sleep on the platform. So really you slept where the tick actually was well tried to sleep there!! I think you were better off on the platform and would have most likely got some sleep!! Your crazy logic cost you a night's sleep. I love your videos and your gorgeous pup!!

Sounded like you may have had some light hail in that thunderstorm.
Idk if youre interested in any advise coming from a former professional stormchaser, but i would recommend you buy a heavy comforter or large area rug, and when a big storm comes through your area and youre unable to find a safer place to park your car, you can throw thst comforter or area rug over the roof of your car/windshield and if there is any large damaing hail, it will minimize the damage done

if you drive down the Oregon coast, you might want to check out staying a night at the free camp ground at the end of Illinois River RD just outside of Agness. great camp ground by a river and does have a pitfall bathroom. the paid camp ground at Agness does have a shower that is $4 if i remember right. and depending on the time of the year when you come through, they do have a jet boat tour that launches out of Gold Beach and goes up the Rouge River with 3 different options for distance up river traveled. I've only rode jetskis on the Rouge River myself

As someone who watched twister as a very small child and has been through 2 tornados, in 2 different towns, I am absolutely terrified of bad thunderstorms...being out in the wilderness with no shelter but a car is a worst nightmare situation for me lol

Storms can be beautiful to watch, but I lost a house to a fire caused by lightning. Never had to deal with ticks so I can't help you. I have slept in my car before, but the seat goes all the way down so it wasn't too bad sleeping. Take care of yourself & of Blue.
Yeah we had horrible weather here in Arkansas where I thought I was going to be safer but you are right in the middle of the red zone so it was a very long night

I miss being able to enjoy thunder and lightning storms. Sadly with my pup ( 7 years old ) is deathly afraid of storms. (ex she busts through closed doors, jumps up on counters, messed up nearly every inch of the carpet of the house). Even if it's just a 15 seconds storm, she is done for the next 12+ hrs. Blue is handling it really well!

Yeah, bugs in the bed, or monsters under the bed, same thing for me. Also, huge flying around in the tent or vehicle at any time.
On the other hand, electrical storms are cozy & all ASMR. A little less so when I'm camping under the trees on a mesa or rim.

We had crazy thunder and lightning in Oregon the other night too .... I was sitting in the house and it sounded like an old-time sonic boom or some kind of crash RIGHT outside. It shook the house for several seconds. Then we proceeded to have a lightning storm for about 20 minutes. No rain during that time, then it rained all night ....
You need to get some repellent .... experts say the best topical repellents use either DEET or picaridin as their primary ingredient; when it comes to pesticides. According to experts, the best tick preventatives for dogs include oral medications containing fluralaner and topical treatments containing the chemicals imidacloprid, permethrin, and pyriproxyfen.

I love thunderstorms. I lived in Michigan for 9 yeas and we had them really good. But now I live in Washington state and we rarely get them. It's good that Blue isn't afraid of them!

Hey Maria just to let you know I had to take that had grown on me quite big that I did not realize was on my back I live in Indiana my doctor said it was no worry because the ticks in the midwest do not have Lyme disease it's the ones that are in Colorado California and Canada that have the Lyme disease so you should be pretty safe
I know someone who got Lyme disease in MD from a tick :/

My first time car camping I went on a hike and i found 2 ticks in my shoes, I freaked out threw off all my clothes, THREW them away, and i checked my body real good and around my car. I freak out for 2 days because avril lagvine got lime disease😆 but moral of the story i freaked out for nothing. Nothing happened, never saw a tick ever again. we suffer more in imagination than reality. and i think I heard they almost have a cure for lime disease anyways…so dont let it bother you!

When you see a lighning flash, start counting the seconds it takes before you hear the thunder. The number of seconds before the thunder is how many miles away the storm is.
