New Ways of Telling Our Story-From Tom Loughman, Executive Director

With December upon us and this year heading swiftly to a close, I write to you with a final update on the three audacious goals we set six months ago when I arrived at the Morris Museum: devoting greater attention to and finding new ways to tell the story of the difference we make.
In the video above, I am standing in Hennessy Hall, the former entrance to Twin Oaks Mansion, where we are surrounded by some of the more interesting 18th and 19th century works of art in our collection. Recent refurbishment has allowed us to present them anew with something of a facelift of the floors, plasterwork, and woodwork designed in 1913 by the famed architecture firm McKim, Mead & White. Great design is timeless, but our needs and expectations change over time. This year we have innovated our website, grown our social media following, and created the first Annual Report in memory - all functions of finding more effective ways to connect with you and new patrons in ways that match your life.
Ambitions like preparing a fresh and dynamic approach to communicating the Museum as an opportunity for learning and joy are essential to our success. We also rely on a solid base of financial support for operations, which make innovation possible. In recent weeks, we have asked you to consider a gift to our annual appeal. I hope you will remember the Morris Museum at year’s end, and help us continue along a path of creating memorable and meaningful experiences with the visual arts.
