Sad... My brother and I, 30 and 28 now, started playing Runescape in 2001. Been through every bug, patch, trade limit old bh etc etc. Tons of fun in general. We both created accs upon osrs release and slowly leveled and grinded out quests as we both have kids and limited time. A few days after maxing combat, we BOTH got banned cooking karambams in the mythic guild. While on discord, in the same world both of us get force logged out and given unappealable perms. I felt like an OG who was a part of something pretty awesome. Then Jagex showed us that they have no issue taking our money with 0 Customer support at all. Can't seem to respond or even bother to create an avenue of communication. If this actually happened to any of you, I'm sorry. It's actually such a kick in the dick.
Im a casual.player but this frustrates me. Its a matter of.time before someone in the know sues them for time wasted. With the right lawyer itd be an easy case

Jordan Richardson yeah it doesn’t sound worth it for a game. I have a 126 combat on osrs and I don’t really play much anymore. Still play like once a month for a few days only
I had gotten a three day ban for botting, which I regrettably was guilty of and accepted my ban. I later had my account permanently banned without provocation. I went some time without doing anything since it was considered unappealable and wouldn't let me put in an appeal while logged in through the website on the banned account. I threw a hail mary one day and put in a generic appeal request without being logged in. In like two days they had me unbanned. Turns out someone took my account while I was inactive, and got it banned for botting after doing 1700+ zulrah kills in a week. I guess they noticed that my usual IP address was stupidly far away from the one it was on during the offense.
So, keep trying, because they do have their good moments. Far and few between it seems recently but they do.
If I ever got banned like that, I would sue them. They violated their own terms.
This is so absurd first EVScape now you seriously Jagex, is it worth playing a game for thousands of hours to be banned in seconds for nothing, imagine if you weren't a content creator.

Careful, I hadn't logged in in a couple of years and my old main is now perm banned for microing a month previous.
DeadpanFacecam That exact situation just happened to me a few days ago. I hadn’t played since 2018, logged in for the first time a few days ago and it said I was perma banned for macroing in Feb 2020. Even though I hadn’t used the account for almost 2 years. Luckily I submitted an appeal and Jagex removed the ban.
It is ridiculous, you'd have to be an idiot to be afraid. Especially when an appeal takes like 12 hours in the very unlikely instance you get falsely banned. Moron.

My account from 2006 got last week banned for botting and any new appeal would be useless since they know it wouldnt effect my perm ban

this happened to me once, it was at the time you could still send emails to jagex and my account was banned for over a year (had bought membership for year so that was wasted) and i kept sending email to jagex to review the case. think it depended on who happened to read your email, one jagex mod who actually cared about his job and customer support finally read my third email i sent after year of ban and said 'you havent had previous mishaps so i am going to remove the ban but you did break rules according to our automatic ban system' and i didnt even want to argue that look the god damn ip address both accounts logged from same computer and same location but i was so happy for getting my account back that i didnt do that nor did i ask for refund for the year membership that was wasted because 99% sure they would have just banned me again and not admit their mistake.

The funny thing is I used to be a huge scumbag in the rs community and bought and sold accounts, Farmed gold, etc. Paid all my bills with RuneScape for a probably almost 2 years and I never caught a single ban until I tried to run a rune Sudoku farm. That was the only thing they ever caught me on.

Spread this idea around everyone. There should be no such thing as a permanent ban. The longest ban should be 2 weeks for marcoing with xp resets and a bank wipe if caught goldfarming.

It's a lot harder to track real world trading than you might think. The reason he got hit is because he did MULTIPLE trades with big cash stacks. The system automatically flags it. And since 1 account was low level, it looked like botting and real world trading. If you just buy a large stack of GP and then never do it again for months, the chances of you getting banned are actually very low. I've had people in my clan give me all kinds of things from farming supplies, to high end gear, to boss runs, etc
Some of this costs anywhere between 80-300m. When people in this game have multiple max cash stacks... Giving away 300m to a clanmate is nothing and Jagex cannot really account for that.
both my accounts got perm banned due to me trading 200m from my main to my pure last year, now i just watch 07 vids and would actually thank jagex for banning me as it saved me countless hours of grinding so ye i think i win

How did you appeal? 2 years later and I've still never gotten my account back that they said used a macro even though the account is from the first year release with 0 offenses because I've literally never done nothing wrong on the account that I'm aware. Made a new account now that it has been 2 years and I honestly fear investing time and money now that I am afraid of getting banned again and not being able to prove that something that was not done was not done.

I was banned 2 months ago for macroing which I was not doing. I cannot even try to appeal the ban which really sucks because we all should at least get a chance to appeal. I feel the only people that can get their accounts back are content creators and not the average OSRS player which I was.

Holy shit i had goosebumps trough this whole video, when i was soloing corp past weeks i saw people with the stats close to what tou had and all with names like danny3483 or andrew2344 etc, every corp world i hopped i saw atleast 1-3 guys telly in snd walk outside within minutes, i folowed a few and they did walk towards the cave but wud log if they saw me on the minimap. I think someone was actually botting this holy shit

Crazy shit, I log into OSRS at School, the Library, Local Community Centre and a couple friends houses.. Its been a while since Ive logged into one of my many acc's, hence, me trying on Mobile.. just to find out that its banned.. Unappealable. Unfortunate.

@a commenter in the comments section, we all know that didnt happen. and even if it did. thats one of the best ways to lose an account. and btw this whole thread is just laughable because if one really wanted to EARN money. they wouldnt be flipping. technically in all honesty, flipping should be illegal BUT that again in small amounts its not really able to prevent because its impossible to regulate unless somehow flipping was destroyed all together which i dont see how that could happen. in all honesty what the youtuber did was a form of flipping due to a major change in an update and not all the traders were taken care of which means it was either done on purpose for a single individual or group to utilize or it was done on accident. u do realize that the world is corrupt right? not saying that the update was correct on purpose or an accident BUT what i do know is if anybody intends to not ever risk, they should just get bonds from runescape in the official page that they offered them in. and yes its costly but its honestly the safest way. and extremely easy to appeal if something did go wrong. and if no appeal was able, simply just record the gameplay before attempting it and then take them to court if needed with the evidence of the recording or by simply uploading the recording in places they can view it. but yea i really dont think its ever safe for players to get GREEDy and manipulate a problem in the game. because thats what it is, a problem and its not intended for players to do that. if they knew everybody was doing that, it would destroy the game and nobody would even play the game properly for awhile until they all farmed it that way and then ended up with 1 billion gp. that would make the game broken for awhile until they figured out a way to balance it all. so a quick ban response by them to any of those happenings like in this vid is the greatest temporary defense until they get around to fixing it, however if a player was able to change their cash stack from mills to bills in the amount of time before they got banned, i honestly doubt they would unban that account and let them walk around with an insanely altered cash stack. if anything, if its even possible(i dont know), they could simply just revert the cash stack back to what it was before the assumed major changes on that day. but still dont know if they even do that so i can see why specific players get permanently banned because they ALTERED WAY TOO MUCH GP and GAINED way too much gp in an illegal way because its taking advantage of an error-to-say. and seeing how he only gained 34m profit and is an already successful 80k sub runescape youtuber, i would think they would just cut their losses to that minor profit change and just let him keep it based on all that. so i would assume yes in a way(most logically) that youtubers get away with a lot of things that non youtubers wouldnt normally. but it all doesnt matter. none of the players should be taking advantage of an error in the game that wasnt intended for that to be used that way. and clearly with common sense it wasnt, but lots of claims can be made about this and that but in the end, if too much profit was made its quite obvious that either a reset of that acc or a ban because i honsetly doubt runescape would want to know a player out there just "earned" all that gp out there like that. one they would probably be salty, and two they might get in trouble for not doing something about it if a youtuber made a video about it and compared it to past events. but in the end its all whatever. its honestly probably just for MASS defense reasons. like for example if it was a bot farm doing it. imagine what would happen to the market of runescape. Obviously they have to do swift action. and what u probably can do is just somehow reach out to them and ask if a revert to a previous cash stack is even possible if ur acc is still banned. otherwise i dont know how it would even be possible to get unbanned for doing major 1b profit changes like that way. and u know whats funny. theoretically failing all the time on their part doesnt help their game because of all the players getting banned left and right. some just do it cuz they got that idea or heard it too. totally understandable. but i guess there is account past history or data that might be able to figure out if an account was more "earned" than dabbling in "illegal activity" for so many years of its existence. but wanna know the best saying?
everything good eventually comes to an end. and thats life. dont take things too seriously. the best way to enjoy a game, is to find a game u are TRULY skilled at and can play legitimate at without having to scheme ways or take advantage of game breaking things that wasnt intended to be that way. for example, in call of duty there is a thing called Snaking. proning and running forward and repeat to create a snake like appearance on the ground while also being able to shoot behind objects without being seen or hit, but yet the snaker is standing up at times and can shoot over and win. thats would be an example of NOT wanting to choose that game IF u want to play like that. u need to find a game that u can just have fun and win in. and yes its not easy to find that. then what else can one do to achieve happiness if they sorta fail in almost every way for games? well a lot of games offer pay to play in their own game which then in that case, that game might be a good game to dabble in. thats life. life isnt easy. just try to make the best of it.
Getting more and more comfortable with my decision to leave RS for Archeage Unchained lol... the 12 employees jagex have left aren't capable of maintaining a good game anymore.
