Catalysis and sorcery ward feels pretty good if you run this witch hunter, but i highly recommend explosive shot as a detonator and primary clearing skill, especially if you opt out of the leap slam weapon swap, the quality of life you get from a point and click aoe damage burst is super nice for dealing with things that are hasted or have a a very fast engage. Armor breaking on stun and armor explosion with flash grenades can also be great as a catalyst for your gas grenades. I can’t wait to see what we get for sword skill gems because I think that is when this starting position will truly start to shine.
A note for anyone trying to use gas/explosive on Xbox: wait until GGG optimizes the game more. On my Series X, using gas/explosive made the Act 3 cruel Viper fight extremely hard because my frames per second tanked to the single digits. The frame rate drops during the whole-screen explosions are common but usually just a nuisance. Because of some timing-related mechanics in that fight, though, trying to do it with PowerPoint frame rates was really difficult. Found a build on the GGG forums that uses Flash/Gas/Oil instead and it’s much more manageable on Xbox. (apparently there is a graphic setting you a can use to fix the frame rates on PC, but it doesn’t exist on Xbox.)
LOL typed my comment while listening to the video and realized Wudi discusses the FPS issue at the end. 😂 Will experiment with stripping out support gems on skills I’m not using and see if it helps with the FPS drops.
Caught the planner update before Xmas. Switched immediately. Having 90% fire resist has been amazing! And feeling so much faster with explosive grenade movement.

I'm experimenting with gem quality at the moment. Being able to go beyond the +20% quality cap can do some nutty things on some abilities like flicker strike.
The artillery totem is awesome for this build. Way better than the jump. It pulls ppl off you, ignites your oil and gas, and it also can be upgraded to max 4 to 6 turrets. One of the passives gives you a chance to spawn 2 with every cast.
using radiant helm which just ignites mobs and the skill speed amulet, frenzy from pin spirit, the poison herald and the fire herald. Jewels on tree faster ignites and invested in faster ignites on tree, my clear is very fast on this build and my rotation is just stun nade which pins then poison, never use oil unless rare mob and everything blows up np. My other idea was to get the dodge roll boot to pass mobs so the tower maps are not boring and u can just nade and roll and everything dies.
hey what do the frenzy charges do for you? havent played around with that yet. And why herald of plague? Isnt there no poisen since gas grenade explodes immediately with radiant grief?!

I'm level 74 right now and the best bombard crossbow I've found/crafted has physical damage 100-240, 80% increase physical damage, 90 elemental damage, etc. Are the high level crossbows found in the higher level maps?

I watch a Kripparian video a few days ago regarding armor and the impact of that Cloak on armor base character and was wondering if it would impact this build since it's my main build from day one. Well it seems like players are figure out that armor kind of sucks the way it is and now I got to change a LOT of nodes in the passive tree to make like this updated one. Good thing they changed the cost of respect.
I had 40 div in my merc I gave up he was 91 150% rarity literally 500dps bow and he sucked i sold it all made a minion build at lvl 62 with 30 div I was doing millions of damage in under 10secs lol I now am 86 on it qnd beat the lvl 4 breach buff merc I say its disgusting how bad it is at bossing specifically there's just no point
on that guides website they can just put any item they want, it likely isn't something he actually has in game, it is a guide and just to give us an idea of what stats to go for.
i have tried an armor evasion max fire res. build with cloak of flame and died in high tier maps (especially bosses) all the time too. Switched over to max evasion with acrobatics and went high strength for big life pool. Now its very tanky and with radient grief its very fast killing too. Highly recommend it
For 1 player game perhaps.. I've been trying to make this build work but the grenade delay makes you quite useless amongs invokers/deadeyes, enemies are killed by alloes before the grenades explode.
An update pushing this buid to the limit for those who care. Currently level 92 with 90% fire/lightning res, 80%cold 65% chaos with 70% evasion with 3.8k life. Look for corrupted cloak of flames with >45% physical as fire really helps keep you stable in breach and 90% fire res is a must with the cloak. A 20% of flask life instant combined with >50 life on kill will keep you alive. Attrition is not worth it, instead go wind dancer to help increase evasion rating. Stack as many +2 lightning res/evasion ratint, atack speed and attack damage jewels until cap since these provide defence and offence scaling (i have 9 jewels total, 4 fire max, 4 lighting max and 1 +3 gas grenade diamond. Amulet annoint blur. To get all these jewels path to prism guard from the bottom jewel just about the attribute % cluster. Remove all the points west of battle hardened. The attack speed wheel with mass hysteria can be dropped when you have 18% attack speed on crossbow and attack speed on gloves. With this attack times of around 0.49 for explosive and 0.62 for gas grenade are possible which is near max speed for the Cooldown reduction the build has. Currently working towards ingenuity to allow for more evasion on bases through mana regen scaling/less mana on gear. Also i prefer close combat on explosive grenade (for breach) with martial tempo instead being on explosive shot which i use for standard mapping white mob clear.
Further update, i've made a full planner with my current gear/tree of the updated build which can be found on maxroll if you search petemate. I'm now currently 83% evasion with 90/90/82 ele 63 chaos with 4k life. Damage can clear juiced t16/17 breaches whilst surviving nearly all maps except when the crossbow bug happens (cannot fire any grenades). Stacking attack speed /damage/max res/evasion jewels allows you to drop all attack speed nodes and grab more jewels or damage scaling elsewhere. Evasion can be nearly 88% however the decreased damage makes it fall off in higher tier maps
I'm at lvl 88 and I can't stop dying on the T:15 maps, I have the resistance capped and above 80Max and 2.5k health and it's non-stop dying, the delayed damage is a big drawback
I've just switched over to this build from the full armour version and I'm having the exact same problem, everything is capped over 80% fire is at 85% and I'm dying way easier then before. Only real problem I see is my armour is now at 10% from 72% and in this video and his guide he has zero Armour :/
Try to get a good evasion value 50-60 and only a bit armor. I have 4300 life / 1600 mana & use morior as body armor (with life/all res & all res in all sockets) & use WIND DANCER
heyya wudijo, got a question about why you would go on the left side of the skill tree to feral force and all of the increased attack damage as when you hold shift one those skills it shows only crossbow bolts being affected and not grenades? is the info in the shift wrong and does it affect grenades?
The info shown when you hold down the shift seems to be bugged, sometimes it shows and other times it doesn't. But if you check the grenade skill DPS or open up the more info UI to check all the damage numbers before and after getting the nodes it definitely affects them.
that shift information in the passive tree seems to be bugged, it even shows only basic xbow attack for some projectile damage nodes too, but i've confirmed it increases the damage of the grenades themselves (just open the g > advanced skill menu of explosive grenade, then pick the passive skill point, you'll see if dmg goes up)
Build rocks. Updated mine, can fo T15/16 easy. Bosses require extreme stacking and timing. Not sure its viable for pinnacle stuff however. Also ran with that ignition hood for awhile, but cant give up MF on the helm or resists.
you need to switch some gear pieces or alter some attributes to int then, he picked gem legionnaire which don't need different stat requirement for gems, they can pump everything in one stat and still use all gems/skills.
If only Birth of Fury Stone Greaves unique has an endgame equivalent I would still play this build. Sadly it has poor stats and needs to be replaced as boots. Having a trail of ignite really imporves the feel of this build.
I'm 90 now been using Birth of Fury since it dropped at level 40, still moving along using maxroll gemling grenadier build. I also wish they upped the stats especially the speed

I upgraded my gas grenade skill quality up to 20% first, it is one of the few good ones we get playing these abilities. It increases the rate and area the gas expands too, rather than just cooldown recovery like most of the other grenades. also if u run another spirit skill like wind dancer or whatever it is called, the one that gives you up to 3 stacks of + evasion %, quality up that one fast too, 20% quality of that skill gives 4 stacks of it, so much more evasion.
Not gigaboring, giga slow. My first build, then did a stormweaver spark. Oh boy what a different experience the campaign was. Just the fact that i could move forward while atracking instead of throwing grenades and either roll backward or roll in circle waiting for the grenades to explode...

You chose Witchhunter instead of Gemling. That's why the ascendancy tree is different. And no, you can't pick a different ascendency after you've already chosen one.
Grenade merc is definitely the the most clunky class i played so far. Explosive shot makes it more clunky unless your high level in my opinion. The cross bow does more damage then the grenades if you have a good crossbow. So throw the grenades and shoot the enemy with the regular bolts
Ok so how you enter a tier 18 map? They made this thing so stupid, a 15 way stone can have a +1 suffix so 16 and the map can be irradiated so tier 17, but where is 18?
I started with an witchunhter merc with gasgrenade, lvl 92, did t16 maps and bosses with irradiation and corruption but the boss dps sucks. have an close to 500 dmg xbow and played with cloak of flame and radiant grief because the delayed dmg feels so awfull. Clunky playstyle and underwhelming dmg and no tankyness, so bad compared to top tier builds :/
I keep dying in act 3. 20+ times at the bosses. this is even with max allres and max armor and yet i still get oneshootet. so kinda getting fed up with this game hc vise. and i dont play softcore.........
This game isn't really balanced for hardcore just yet. There are way too many one shot mechanics all throughout the game and especially in the end game. I'm playing through on softcore and still find it to be incredibly challenging and very punishing when I die. I am a Diablo four hardcore player and used to playing all the way till max level in game and never dying because it was so easy. This game, it's close to impossible to make it to max level and hardcore, unless you are grinding super slow in very low level content.
Playing the game 24/7 and having chatters gifting him stuff for content ? Never compare your average player's experience with content creators. It's a different game they're playing.
@@DoctorStrange01 In the beginning of the video he says he's playing it on SSF (SOLO SELF FOUND). No one can give him anything on that server... He just plays a lot and either learned how to craft it or got extremely lucky with gamble crafting.
Also, to the op, if he can craft this, so can you! Just may take a month or so, instead of a couple weeks, like him. Just gotta educate yourself, play the game, and enjoy the trial and error process. :)
just the fact that granades have cool down, and not base on mama only,made this class stile the worst in the game, and that without even count they don't detonate right away, plus over all that they nerf gas grenade, while the other classes span abilities right and left and one shot bosses, the dev team in this game are a joke

Get a radient grief helm. I dont need any explosive nades cus that helm ignites all enemies around your character.

I changed my Xbox graphics settings to ultra performance to be able to play the game at all on my series x lol
I switched to this build as well and it’s much smoother compared to explosive grenade plus it’s got a good defensive layer to it.
I’ve been playing gas/explosive since day one on Xbox and not having performance issues.

Hey, I have Fire res at 120% and the others around 75%. i thought it capped out at 75%. It still feels like i am getting a lot of damage
How did you craft that crossbow? That's insane. I don't think I found one better on market

Playing this build except with witchhunter, I struggle a little bit with bosses, but mapping/trash is easy.

Im using a unique pair of boots that leave a fire trail and they ignite the gas gernades so fast 😂😂 build is sick man thanks

The only way I'm figuring out is high tier gear or don't use explosive shot and just toss the grenades

Question: when it says “main stats are doubled”, what does it include? Everything? Gear? travel nodes?
Is that a gemling ascendancy node? Then it doubles bonuses from attributes (strength=hp, dex=accuracy, int=mana)

Similar experience but with monk invoker. Sadly the fuse wait time also make me play the mercy in short burst of play time

corruption map gives the last level, the random ones you get on the atlas. Can't really influence how they spawn so its pretty ass imo.

I started with an witchunhter merc with gasgrenade, lvl 92, did t16 maps and bosses with irradiation and corruption but the boss dps sucks. have an close to 500 dmg xbow and played with cloak of flame and radiant grief because the delayed dmg feels so awfull. Clunky playstyle and underwhelming dmg and no tankyness, so bad compared to top tier builds :/
I keep dying in act 3. 20+ times at the bosses. this is even with max allres and max armor and yet i still get oneshootet. so kinda getting fed up with this game hc vise. and i dont play softcore.........
This game isn't really balanced for hardcore just yet. There are way too many one shot mechanics all throughout the game and especially in the end game. I'm playing through on softcore and still find it to be incredibly challenging and very punishing when I die. I am a Diablo four hardcore player and used to playing all the way till max level in game and never dying because it was so easy. This game, it's close to impossible to make it to max level and hardcore, unless you are grinding super slow in very low level content.
Played witchhunter grenade...felt really weak. Gemling seems better for grenades indeed.

Playing the game 24/7 and having chatters gifting him stuff for content ? Never compare your average player's experience with content creators. It's a different game they're playing.
@@DoctorStrange01 In the beginning of the video he says he's playing it on SSF (SOLO SELF FOUND). No one can give him anything on that server... He just plays a lot and either learned how to craft it or got extremely lucky with gamble crafting.
Also, to the op, if he can craft this, so can you! Just may take a month or so, instead of a couple weeks, like him. Just gotta educate yourself, play the game, and enjoy the trial and error process. :)

just the fact that granades have cool down, and not base on mama only,made this class stile the worst in the game, and that without even count they don't detonate right away, plus over all that they nerf gas grenade, while the other classes span abilities right and left and one shot bosses, the dev team in this game are a joke
