I could see it working this way: Well it shows that you have ancestry in the U.K, and instead of focusing elsewhere, they focus on the DNA that exists in the U.K. and say it’s the predominate ancestry JUST BECAUSE there’s traces of DNA there, instead of DNA elsewhere. What if the DNA in say the U.K. is less prevalent for me, but the elements that are there, they take those into consideration more? It’s hard to explain, it’s a case of how recent or close the ancestry is I suppose but at the same time, maybe it’s only one recent family member in a long line of people that are otherwise something else, who knows
Like you I love the ethnicity estimates, especially the updates. I think mine are quite accurate. I’m mainly English, 58%, 21% Scottish, 8% Welsh, 4% Irish, Norway 7% and Sweden 2%. But my original estimate had a bit of Italian, Iberian and Caucuses, I never felt that was correct. I feel mine are more accurate now but can’t wait for the next update. It’s really lovely to hear other’s estimates, thank you for sharing 💖
@@AdopteeThings hi cousin.... with all my autosomal testing i have found out that we are infact all related in New Mexico. The first families were conquistadors that came from Spain through Mexico. Get your self on ancestry to thrulines ...very useful to find out who is your past generation...start your tree. Thrulines opened everything for me,there's a treasure trove of ancestry to be tapped into. 😊👍🇪🇸
Joe Flores that is so great! I have completed the majority of my family tree for the past few generations but that’s a great idea to go even farther back! I haven’t yet found the connection to Spain even though my family has such a big Spain percentage on that side!
@@AdopteeThings hi cousin..thrulines allows you to compare centamorgans...and thrulines Will let you know if you might be related to a grandparents ,aunts ect. I just received my ancestry DNA update for genetic community and im northern New Mexico and northern Spain🇪🇸 so ancestry is great. Im sure you will find alot on your heritage of new mexico because to much history there😊👍
Joe Flores I have already found all of my immediate and most of my extended family using 5 different sites but that’s good advice. Centimorgans were very helpful to me.
Wow, I think you have the most of the 1%s I have ever seen :D!!! I think your German is probalby lost in the English category, because the English originally came from North West Germany and many Germans actually show up as English - it is likely down to Ancestry not having enough samples from Germany to differentiate the two populations accurately enough (yet).
hailandplaice thank you for this info! I always wondered about the lack of German with recent family from Germany with super German names. That would explain a lot. And yes all these 1%’s drive me crazy sometimes! 😂
Yes, you're right. I am half German, half Norwegian/Swedish.. so I should be 50% German. But on Ancestry DNA I'm 0% German. If you'd just take my English percentage as German, my results would be pretty accurate though. They even nailed the exact region in Norway of where my family is from. If your family is from North-Western Germany they often mix it up with English ancestry. Similarly eastern German might show up as Eastern European, South-Western Germany as France and the very north of Germany as Danish. Germany is just right in the middle and there has been a lot of exchange with bordering nations in history. My results are: (33% Norway, 32% England, Wales & NW Europe, 16% Sweden, 7% Denmark, 5% Finland, 2% Ireland & Scotland, 2% France, 2% Baltic, 1% Southeast Asia)
Yeah I have some German ancestry and not even 1% German showed up,so not surprising if that's the reason... my great grandmother was half German so I would have expected German or Poland since where they lived before moving to Australia is now in Poland...
Yeah mine changed too, I don’t really put much stock in it anymore, I get a high perfect for English but I seriously look like I’m German it doesn’t make any sense, yet it’s not on my ancestry test or there’s something suspicious about it. I guess it works to an extent but it doesn’t really explain my own experience. I think I could be Japanese a bit as well but it doesn’t show for me, it’s weird. But I mean I could go to Germany and I’d blend in really well, I look German, where as it would be he opposite in the U.K.
Mine did change a little from last year. I was originally 1% Norway and 1% German. Was wondering how I ended up being part German and what side of the family it came from. Of course they got rid of Norway and German. My native American percentage didn't change but the country did. Update actually seems more realistic. My original native American was from the Andes but now it says north America which actually makes more sense. They also added ivory cost to mine which I didn't have before.
Jillian92 lol the comment I was waiting for. Yes, Spain is of course in Europe but Spain is one of my main three percentages so I thought it was pretty clear why I gave Spain/Iberian Peninsula it’s own category. I guess I didn’t make that clear enough. But thank you for the observation! 😜

We have a similar mix, although I only have 4 regions.
Mystery 17 Only 4 regions? That’s impressive! So concise 😊
@@AdopteeThings Indeed, with 15% being my lowest
The New Mexico communities that they traced is Native American ancestry. That's why your Native/Indigenous American DNA is so high!!!
AMERICAN INDIAN IS THE SAME IN THE USA AND MEXICO SAME DNA
SOME OF THE NEW MEXICANS HAVE UP TO 95 PERCENT NATIVE AMERICAN
