A key point in this game that some people miss or gloss over is at 16-10 Shannon Nevin had a penalty goal attempt and missed which would have made it 18-10, maybe psychologically that could have done something to the Newcastle side because they would have thought "We need to score two tries now at least in the last 15 minutes to win".

As a Sharkies Fan i always remember this game growing up and the party we had at home for ARL GF every year no matter what team (only QLD and MEL lol ) But back then in those days we had Free to air ARL GF and we made weekend's of it just like the Bathurst 1000 thank you for this NRL :D

How long did Super League last? One season, then Super League teams came running back into the fold. Now there’s a weak competition if I’ve ever seen one!
@@The_Last_Ninja let me explain, the quality of the teams and players therefore the competitive nature ie competition of the ARL in 1997 was vastly inferior to the Super League in 1997, hope that clears it up.
