I was looking to get a used rx350 when I ran into this thing in the Lexus used car side. Asked if I could drive it and fell in love with the refinement for the money. It is not fast, but it is super comfortable and quiet. And is a Prius so reliable af. Love this car.
@? but more luxurious than a prius. my brother has one and i’ve thinking bout getting it. it’s slow but it looks a lot better, it’s a lexus, has leather, navigation
I think Cooley hits all the right notes. I would never had looked twice at the KIA Optima prior to his reviews. Now I am impressed and even thinking of buying one!
Great review. Just picked up a 2013 from Jim Falk Lexus of Beverly Hills. Got a killer deal, and I love the car so far. Averaged a solid 40 MPG on a 1,100 mile road trip the first weekend I got it (prior to breaking the engine in) with spirited driving in mountains (CA to CO) with temperatures dropping to as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit. I foolishly leased it without watching this video first, but given Brian and my similar opinion in cars, it comes as no surprise that he approves this car.
Also, it should be noted that this car is slow... very slow. I haven't dabbled much in sport mode (drove it straight to CO right after buying it and attempted to achieve decent MPG with 75-80 MPH speed limit and steep grades -- EPA figures were easier to achieve than I had expected). Will post an update after driving it in sport around town.
TREBLEnBAYCE I too recently leased the 2015 ct200h from Santa Monica lexus. Being I live in Los Angeles and drive through hollywood hills I was expecting lower MPG I do use sprt mode often and I avg 39 MPG. I have gotten as much as 41 when driving like a civil motorist (I have a heavy foot). I am extremely impressed with the overall performance and MPG
How did people go from loving to despising Lexus’ Remote Touch controller? What happened? Nothing really changed about it, if anything the jog/puck/mouse thing got better and the user interface looks way more modern.
Solid car and saves soo much gas. Comin from a Guy that just bought a New 2022 Redesigned Denali Sierra Diesel Owner owned for a Year and i also have other Big GM SUVs And GM Truck Vehicles but for some reason i love driving my Ct200h F Sport Hatch. Small yes compact yes but still manages to fit things in decently. Never drove a actual Hatchback since i had my Si Civic Hatch where Hatches were actually Shaped like Hatchbacks and felt Sportier
I have never found it under powered. People seems surprised when they get in. In sport mode, It’s pretty quick . Not a track car, but great all the same
@@owascoshaw Just bought a 2013 ct, no cons I can find so far. Sport mode makes it quick enough to accelerate in most scenarios. Handling is great, and I'm averaging 40-43 mpg city & highway. Had an Infiniti G35 before so I was a little worried about going from 260 to 130 HP, but the mileage makes up for the loss in performance easily.
Easy: If fuel economy is priority, get the CT. No other entry level premium car gets this mileage (the exception being the Audi A3 TDI, but that car is FWD only & some people don't like diesels) If you like driving fun (or need AWD), get the IS. The 350 is preferable as the 250 is not particularly powerful. The IS is also more upscale (read expensive) than the CT.
@limpcookiez148 He drives a really old car..he mentioned in an older video. He's a really picky driver so he usually has a problem with almost every car.
I baught one today for 300.00 😁😂 the catch 😒 it was little dinged in rear quarter the insurance company paid the people off on it they didnt want it because the light damage they called me gave me the number they wanted I said hold it till I get their (clean title ) not salvage. . I'll try do a video.and post it later. Mine needs rear bumper cover and tail light and few other odds and ins. But its drivable the way it sets it didnt hurt the suspension or the doors.
Cnet, could you please sssssssSTOP being an apple website! seriously, everytime i visit your site, a day would never pass by without an apple news. I know, i know lot of guys there got brainwashed by the fruit inc. but i expect tech guys to be professional & unbiased. Frankly speaking, only Molly Wood & Brian Cooley are the guys that I watch & respect in cnet because they are the only one's that can love & hate fruity at the same time.
Test drove one last week, the suspension is absolutely ridiculously hard and unforgiving , even in non-F Sport. This is coming from an owner of an M-Sport BMW 328. I was really sold on buying one, tho. Sad.
You threw me off when you said the interior of the Lexus wasn't that refined in the beginning of the video, and at the end of the video you said the interior is ergonomic. A little hypocritical but never the less over all a good review.
Hey guys if you want a fast car, buy a dodge charger or corvette or Ford Mustang, don’t bother this kind a car, is good in mpg,, I have one and is good quality car...
No.. this car is a piece of crap... don't buy it. You will be sad that you did. This car is the 2nd worst car in quality that I have ever owned. Only a Dodge I've had is worse. ' No, this car is not luxury by any means. My nissans have better feathers and quality than this things. Lexus charges you an arm and leg also for service. Mine blew its engine at 101K miles. AC/Heater blower went out. Buttons feel into the console. Stickers started pealing. Fenders fell off. Door latch came loose. Seats wore from tan to black. Serious quality issues. Serious piece of crap. This car has NO acceleration and if you are in a dangerous situation - you are screwed. You can neither stop it quickly because its weight nor can you accelerate it. It has tons of blind spots. Ton. Ask me... I've owned this piece of crap for some time. I give it a solid "F".
+Donny Thumper They discontinued them because they were shitty glorified Priuses, and no one wanted to buy them. But definitely not for the reasons you listed XD
Things you say, such as "You can neither stop it quickly..." makes zero sense; if anything, this car's brake is way too hard/sensitive, due to its regenerative braking system... I'm no fan of this glorified Prius, trust me, but clearly you don't know what your talking about.
Braking, 70-0 mph: 175 ft stopping distance for the CT200h vs this list... remember this car is supposed to be a luxury item (www.motortrend.com/news/20-best-60-to-0-distances-recorded/) Sounds like the regenerative braking system needs a bit more regenerative in it. www.which.co.uk/news/2012/05/best-and-worst-supermini-braking-distances-285596/. The stopping distance for the CT is 41.1. Wow... it almost made the bottom of the list. Clearly you work for lexus. Tell me one thing I said incorrect and I am sure to wax you with facts to back it. Engineer vs Lexus salesman. The engineer will win everytime.
I've come from the future. Americans never embraced the compact hatchback it was good till 2017 and SUVs are everywhere now.
I know its a shame, luckily it still lives in Europe
@Coldfury true
@? soo true
I just got mine and turned 18 this past October. What a brilliant vehicle!!

Seen some of these used for 15k...looks like a solid car for that price
where?
Autotrader Tampa area.
They were only like 30k new you can already get them fairy cheap, and I'd much rather have one of these than a prius
@? but more luxurious than a prius. my brother has one and i’ve thinking bout getting it. it’s slow but it looks a lot better, it’s a lexus, has leather, navigation
i miss this guy
I think Cooley hits all the right notes. I would never had looked twice at the KIA Optima prior to his reviews. Now I am impressed and even thinking of buying one!
Even in 2024, Lee is considered a beautiful and good car that has stood the test of time

Nima Ataei Hey Nima, were you able to achieve that MPG on Normal mode or Eco? Thanks
TREBLEnBAYCE I too recently leased the 2015 ct200h from Santa Monica lexus. Anchor Mainly in ECO mode with short bouts in sport mode when additional power is needed.
Does this car turn off when you get to Red Lights and restart when you hit the gas? I don't really like that feature
This car looks great in white, really!
How did people go from loving to despising Lexus’ Remote Touch controller? What happened? Nothing really changed about it, if anything the jog/puck/mouse thing got better and the user interface looks way more modern.
It was complicated for the first impressions until u get used to it
Too many options became too annoying to get locked on 4 things you don't want
great video and cool car. I got my CT new in 2019 and its still going strong. Can't believe 10 years on they still sell the CT new
I've seen 2012 models with 60,000 miles on the odometer for about $12K USD. Is that a good price for one of that age & price?
yes i got mine for that with 90k mint condition tho
I picked one up for 10k with 109k miles, dealer serviced every 4.5k.
Brian Cooley is definitely the best editor of cnet.
The only newer Lexus without cooled seats. Such sadness.
You must have had sleepless nights over that; your whole world falls apart. Poor man. Feel sorry for you !
Many heat. Wow.

I Love this car. Great little car
im planning on buying this car soon... can't take G35's gas anymore :( love the car... but i need more efficient commuter with sytle
Wow what a comment to find. I just swapped my 2004 G35 for a 2013 CT-200h. No regrets.
is that a toyota matrix?
While in Brunei we dont have the remote controller with the lcd screen but still i m in love with ct200
Excellent sharing !
Pretty nice review, I skipped a few other reviews just complete watching of this one.
This car would have been great had it have , say, 50 more horsepower.
I have never found it under powered. People seems surprised when they get in. In sport mode, It’s pretty quick . Not a track car, but great all the same
Laweeze Morton I agree. No CVT and 200+ hp, this thing would kill the market
would have sacrificed MPG, and at that point you might as well buy a high trim Corolla or Civic
Jordan Banko well then that would throw away the whole point of it being fuel efficient
I like all Brain's car reviews!!!
me too! I watched his LS videos
Shake that bush on the screen 😂😂😂
DA CAR IS A REAL BEAUTY
it is, I love mine
THIS CAR IS SO SEXY
I do love the style and exterior design
Found one for 8500, will most likely buy it. i've wanted a cool hatch for a while and that fuel economy in awesome!
Did you get it? And how many miles did it have?
"The damn phone holder"
it doesn't fit my iphone X
@@RevLexus it will easily fit your phone...just turn your phone around?
@PlaySomething! they have
That mightve been your most balanced review ever.
Guys. Please stop using those out dated audio loops from garage band.
i have the Lexus ct 200h and it is cool so dont listen to him
Any cons?
No cons.

Brian puts the "Cool" in Cooley
I was surprised he didn't call it an overpriced Prius.
With those numbers you're better off in a Prius touring edition. The CT sells great in Japan and EU but I don't see it getting far in the US.
How much are these ?
This seems like it was a Toyota that they decided to sell under the Lexus brand at the 11th hour. Not polished enough to be a Lexus.
Mechannel basically a luxury auris
is this like a nicer crZ
This car was made for Europe. It had no chance of winning in America.
I'm debating between this & the IS. Can anyone help?
Easy:

Trades46 Ok thanks. I'll keep all that in mind.
it looks like a fast car but it's only 134 hp shit
@alexscsi 50k?! its 29 msrp
got this for loaners car, coming from is250, ct200h is slow, but good mileage. dont like the regen brake but very sturdy
@limpcookiez148 He drives a really old car..he mentioned in an older video. He's a really picky driver so he usually has a problem with almost every car.
@limpcookiez148 From what I've heard he drives a Ford Crown Victoria (I know I don't understand either).
he mentioned something about his crown victoria in one
The goat
@limpcookiez148 I think he said once that he owns an old volvo.

@limpcookiez148 he mentioned he drove an old fiat and some station wagon
@limpcookiez148 He drives a Fiat and a Ford Country Squire station wagon. They talked about the cars they own on the CNET car tech podcast
come on cnet is. all about tech and i cant play the video caue you blocked it?
I don't know why this car is trending recently in Pakistan
Would've been nice to have a v6......
A Boxer Turbo Engine with 300 PS would be awesome
malrofo I think the current 2.0t from Lexus with 248hp would be killer in this thing. Could really upset some German rivals
@limpcookiez148 he drives a grand marquis believe it or not
@limpcookiez148 I believe it's a station wagon....
That car is allready in europe, like 4 months :S
its still here :P
i wonder what he drives
feel ... with his voice, he speaks like a chicky girl...
nice car
A Fiat 850 Coupe and a 1985 Ford Country Squire
One problem.. Hybrid is the inly
This car starts at $49999 base in NZ...
Really? That's quite expensive.
+Benjamin Ezuanyamike yea makes sense
Only option

toyota makes their cars just to please brian cooley
@limpcookiez148 he drives a Ford Crown Victoria. Check out his review of the 2011 Toyota Avalon. BTW, he's the reason I bought that car.
You just lost a subscriber for no iPhone playback.
You threw me off when you said the interior of the Lexus wasn't that refined in the beginning of the video, and at the end of the video you said the interior is ergonomic. A little hypocritical but never the less over all a good review.
You do realize that Refined (fit and finish, materials) is different from Ergonomic (logical placement of buttons and switches). Sigh.

@DPCBO1 I knowwwwww
so basically this is a toyota matrix hyrbrid pwahahahahahha
@limpcookiez148 probably nothing because he hates them all
i keep it in eco
aww do you? I love it in sport mode at roundabouts
My God what he complaining...
