    For an alternative to BMW 1 series, Audi A3 and Mercedes A class the CT200h is a very good choice. Those who want better economy would likely be going for a diesel variant of the German rivals, however, CT200h is a very efficient rival, especially in city driving. It is based off the 1.8L Prius platform which most cars are used for Taxi here in the UK and if you ask the owners most of them have between 220,000-320,000 miles on them…
    This car isn’t designed to be fast or sporty, it is designed to be aesthetically pleasing whilst also being an entry point to the Lexus brand; with minimal maintenance required and relatively strong resale value, this is the car that will likely bring more users into the IS300h or the UX250h range and most people know that Lexus customers become Lexus customers for life…

      No lies detected here 🔍 I used to sell Lexus and a client said it best "BMW builds their cars from the outside-in, Lexus builds their cars from the inside-out"
      You purchase Lexus while you lease the rest

      I totally agree with you. I own the 2011 CT200h and I love it so much (my previous car was a VW Passat CC 2009, and yeah, I gave that car up after 2 years because of unreliability). I commute to work through forest (uphill downhill), highways and then through the cities and get 4.2 L/100Km, Winter 4.7 L/100Km (Pretty it can do 3.9L/100Km if driven only in the city). In Normal or Sport Mode I do not have any problem overtaking other cars, even uphill. After 10 years, I am thinking of upgrading to a Lexus UX or IS300h. Cannot wait to get one of those!

    Great video! Not sure why so many downvotes, I've had this car for 3 months now and I love it, but these are legitimate critiques.
    For me the HP is sufficient but that's a personal preference.
    Regarding the park button, I haven't had a problem yet, but I also primarily use the power button as it automatically puts the car into park which I love.
    The screen, connectivity and navigation are incredibly dated so I just mount my phone over one of the center air vents, which can individually be closed off which is perfect.

    Would be very interested if you could add power to these with aftermarket parts, my understanding is that if you increase power on the ice you also have to increase an equal amount of power relatively with the electric motor in order for it to counteract the torque, although I would love to be wrong as I have just purchased a 2014 ct200h and would like to know if you can add power reasonably please let us know how it goes and stay healthy!

    • @gsgcarreviews

      Same I was digging into it and it seems like I'd have to buy a custom built turbo as they aren't mass manufactured (no surprise there lol). The ones that do have it have a huge increase in power and are averaging more MPG.
      Also a cold air intake is no use because the engine works best while warm. I've seen warm air intakes for sale though... works best with the Atkinson cycle engine
      The only feasible option is ECU chip tuning which many companies offer! Have you heard of any other options?

    • @noahhuneycutt4861
      @noahhuneycutt4861 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gsgcarreviews I would imagine a better performance exhaust would raise more horses than an air intake, as well as other simple things like new headers, if we're feeling extra stupid we could get new internals and raise the compression ratio but that would destroy fuel economy most likely, and be kind of stupid but Im not sure on that. I think a concept that needs to keep in mind is the top gear test in which an m3 got better gas mileage than a prius around a track. Maybe with higher compression, and induction we would see equal or greater gas mileage, afterall the Lexus ux's 2.0l doesn't get all it's added power from displacement. Toyota doesn't want us to mod this vehicle and neither do most people, but let's see if they are incorrect.

    My biggest problem with the car, is that there is no temperature gauge. The biggest thing that happens to these motors is a blown head gasket because you can't predict the temperature while it's overheating.
    If youre buying this car you're not buying it for the technology, comfort, or horsepower; you're buying it because it's a dressed up alternative to a prius. The egr valve is an interesting point because I have not heard of many failures but, I guess it would be smart to service both that and the thermostat st 100k.
    The braking issue you mentioned is related to the brake actuators that all go out in all toyota and lexus products. It's such a stupid design that I don't think they fixed and you're left with squaking brakes. The brakes don't project you forward, they're just more touchy. You'll find yourself pressing too hard too often. It's a super expensive fix thst most owners just ignore

    i heard that the EGR shouldn’t be of any concern unless the engine starts to make a knocking sound. is this true? i don’t want to start to worry unless i have a problem.

    • @gsgcarreviews
      @gsgcarreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's true, I recommend cleaning it as preventative maintenance. But I wouldn't say it's just the EGR valve alone, it's also the intake manifold. If you aren't having any issues than you are one of the lucky ones! Some had it at low miles such as 80k but my car was faulty around 160k miles
      When my engine was going bad I read many forums of those who had bad head gaskets and needed engine repairs (quite common) from the system. Each followed the same protocol: change spark plugs, change ignition coils, etc until they realized the problem lied deeper into the engine.

    • @gsgcarreviews
      @gsgcarreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But no need to worry as the CT200H is quick to show early signs of these issues. You'll notice the car would shutter at cold start or takeoff, engine misfire (#1), dark exhaust and sudden loss of coolant

      @Adam-oo7tn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      GETSETGO CAR REVIEWS thank you. this helps a lot. i am at 107k, and at cold starts it can vibrate while warming up. i wouldn’t say it is a shudder more of a vibration or a ‘shiver’ i will keep an eye on it. if it becomes severe i will go immediately to give it to a mechanic to work on it to see the problem. i don’t notice any sign of coolant loss...

    • @gsgcarreviews

    FYI, every car since the 90s have an EGR valve just like this. There is nothing different with the CT200h and its EGR valve.
    The brakes never lock up on the CT200h. Now what they do is jump while switching from regenerative braking and changing to the mechanical brake pads. It is annoying and dangerous, no idea how it was legal for them to do this.
    I agree with the nav for adding a cell phone. There are two options to add a phone, one for calls and one for media. It is annoying and not intuitive to find it. Calls allows like 6 phones to add while media only allows you to save 2 phones to add.
    The GPS is good, but you must install a speed kill switch so you can type while driving. The GPS bypass was worth every penny. I think I spent like $80 for it years ago. My 2011 lets you find businesses by category or by business. You do not need an address. Why is yours different???? The GPS works fine, I have my maps updated to 2018 and I will use it from time to time as it is easier than pulling out a cell phone. The mouse control on the CT200h is the best car interface of all time.
    There is nothing wrong with the park button.
    Normal, Sport, and EV modes are the exact same thing. There is no difference beyond changing the gauges on the dash.

      That's unfortunate. This issue is more common than I thought . Try finding a prius mechanic, I do this by typing "hybrid repair" on Craigslist

    The door panel is made with cheap material. If you get it a little wet it shrinks.

    That's kind of disappointing that this vehicle, made by "Toyota" has all these mechanical issues. 🤷
    Even the brakes locking up??? Seriously?? I would expect that from a Chevy spark or Cruz........ But.........Toyota?? 🤦
    And yes I say Toyota because Lexus is made by Toyota. It's their premium luxury" vehicle.

      Yep it was since their Prius redesign, it had many faults because they tried new things.

    So the moral of this story is buy a 2014 model and later, as most of those problems have been resolved. Especially the infotainment system.

    • @gsgcarreviews
      @gsgcarreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes 2014 and up is the best bet however the infotainment system is still a compromise. Overall still a badass car 😎👍

    you hate this, you hate that, what worthless comment. Lexus is one of the best cars of the world. It is so easy to try breakdown a brand. When you buy a car first you're gonne make a testdrive. But you already bought it. Then place the negative comments online. You made the decision...a wrong decision to buy this car! Reflect to yourself.

      Hope you have a better day because a lot of this seems like you should be reflecting upon yourself. I've enjoyed this car more than I have any other car so your comment is very one-sided itself
