Became a great grandma and when baby comes, my Cream runs and gets a toy and carry’s it around so happy to see her but know can’t play yet, it is adorable.❤️🥰❤️
Love your Goldens Em. The only breed I’ve ever had! We have 3 on our farm in Scotland. You should come to the Golden Retriever gathering at the Guisachan Estate - the ancestral home of the Golden in the Scottish highlands. Last time I think they got a photo of almost 500 dogs together.
My golden just turned 2 in September, and he is still very much a giant puppy! If you've never had a large breed dog or a golden, it really is something new to wrap your mind around. Prior to getting my boy, I had only ever had small dogs that were mature adults in a year or so.
Em, you are absolute " golden " at what you do! You share with your followers the BEST information. The standards you set for golden ownership are 2nd the none! Lov lov lov all you do! Happy 2025❤
My 15 month old ‘puppy’ pulled a cafe table, that he was tied to, down and across the road, damaging 2 cars. Yesterday he slipped out while I was putting out the bins and started ‘playing’ with a dog being walked. Had to take him back home by the neck scruff. The woman was angry. People don’t realise how young he still is. Your words are too true. Love him to pieces anyhow. 🥰
Great advice! I’m on Golden #7, and while they all came from different parents and had individual personality “ quirks”, they all definitely had the 5 traits you discussed!
Such helpful information and has given me another perspective when I think about raising our new Golden puppy who comes home on Friday. A beautiful film of your gorgeous dogs. Xx
Very good points to think about before you actually bring home a golden retriever. I'd also ad for any puppy, patience. Not everyone is equipped mentally to raise a puppy just like some are not mentally equipped to raise children.
Yes the early years can be a bit mixed... mine was so energetic we ended up taking in a dog that needed a home, same age... they hit it off and remain best buds to this day... now 10. But yes you should know that goldens in their early years may look adorable but they are all teeth in regards to latching onto anything chewable, even walls. Interesting what you say about Canadian hunting lines, mine is from Canada but I couldnt say if it was a hunting line, might explain his youthful energy level.
My Golden loves to pick up two toys at the same time and bring them to me. It is so funny watching him try to pick them up. He even will try for three toys!😂
Thank you for this video Emily. I've only had goldens (3 now) and all have been rescues. We've had genetic issues that should have been caught. My current young girl (9) lost an eye to GRPU and is now losing her other eye to PRA. My older girl (13) has GRPU in both eyes and going blind. I've watched all of your videos and love how you expose and desensitize the puppies. My 13 year old was born in shelter and scared her entire life. If I drove from California, would you be agreeable to releasing a puppy to me? Keeper was the first girl I watched from you; I've loved her since the start.
My Cream swallowed a small rope, 3/4 of it still whole. And couldn’t find it or pieces, until she threw it up whole, not chewed, dont know how it went down, and didn’t come out in stools. Truthfully a miracle that it came up and she was fine. I have proof in a photo. She was two at the time, is now 3 3/4 years.
There is a reason they choose Goldens as guide dogs …. Intelligent, love people, want to please. But when they mature with understanding they are THE best digs in the world. Still miss mine.
Doggie heaven, running in the snow on an opened field 🐾

@@lggolden1010 I actually have several puppies that live in California. I'd prefer they fly in cabin since it makes the trip much shorter.
@ I’d like to find out about that possibility.
My girl is thin like yours Em❤️
