    You can see how in the 38 mm the subdials at 9' and 3' are OVER the subdial at 6'. They call it the "micky mouse" look which I find much better looking than the inverted positions subdial on the 42mm. Great content as always Alex thanks! Cant wait for the Omega 321 video.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! There are pros and cons with every design... The “old” blue dial looks gorgeous for me, but I also like the new one...Couldn’t decide which one is my favorite... The 321 will come 😉 in the next weeks...

    Ciao Alexander 👋You now how much I love Zenith and how much I love El Primero. In my opinion, Zenith is working well with Tornare: Zenith must invest in youth culture; it must invest in the US market after too many years from which it has been unjustly excluded; Zenith must continue to invest in its extraordinary manufacturing skills, homemade movements, research in performance and quality. Zenith must create value and exclusivity for its customers by doing coveted and esteemed things from the market. The Zenith star, with its enormous history and symbolism, must enter people's culture and be an image and expression of pleasure and value. FORZA ZENITH!

      @@WatchAdvisor Thanks Alexander, you did well. It is right to encourage the good work that Julien Tornare and the whole Zenith team is doing. I learned to love Zenith's work as a child through my grandfather's watch and today at 38 I am a small but very passionate collector of Zenith and mechanical watchmaking. Zenith must return to shine among the best Maison and to represent excellence, exclusivity, trend and monetary value. Zenith has the knowledge and history to do this, it must always invest in image and high quality in my opinion. Zenith can be a coveted brand and a quality leader... Value.
      Thanks Alexander for your exciting videos, your sympathy and your professional competence. Have a nice Sunday

    Great review, Alexander. The three different shades of blue on this watch really makes it special, along with the history and back story behind the development of the reference. I am fortunate enough to own both the 42mm El Primero Chronomaster (36,000 vph) and the A384 Revival on the ladder bracelet so I can personally attest to how well made these watches are and the attention to detail Zenith has put into these pieces. Zenith is a brand on the rise and it's great to see.

    I have the same size wrist as you. It’s all personal taste but I think the 38mm suits much better on your wrist. It was a nice touch to give the scale in the video between the two. I picked up the Cover Girl revival so no more watches for me this year. I do think this looks lovely and clean with the white dial.

    Great video. Great detail. Thank you for posting this. I think the 38mm wears much better on your wrist than 42mm and this would definitely be my choice. But then I have never like the trend to over-sized watches. This piece is so striking it does not need to be large to make an impact. It's stunning. Even with the date window (at least the window is white).

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing! My “problem” is that I’ve been wearing over years >40mm sizes... it would take time to re-adapt to this absolutely sufficient size...

  • @bobbydazzler1780
    @bobbydazzler1780 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It’s a very smart looking piece and I’m enjoying the crisp white dial with cool blue sub dials. The overlapping sub dials are not obscuring the reading like in other models. Curious how the Elite movement has a bidirectional date change mechanism which is mega cool. The case size is an issue for me however as my sweetspot is 40-42mm being a tall large guy. It looks fresh on your wrist. So much charm and history in this piece. A welcome departure from all things Rolex.

    Cheers Alexander. Another excellent presentation...as usual. :-) In my opinion this watch would be great in 42 mm, may be 44 mm. What would make it fantastic would be a 3 GREEN sub dials on a white dial in 42-44 mm with a optional stainless steel band. ( I am preparing for negative comments...)

    • @WatchAdvisor

    The 38mm actually looks more suitable to your wrist size than the 42mm IMO. Personally I’d like all new watches going forward to be 40mm or less in size. Too many otherwise beautiful oversized high-horology watches on the market at the moment.

    Lol, I just grabbed my 420Z Zenith for a guided walkthrough of my watch's movement. That was kinda cool. Glad I own a raw 400-series movement, and the HW version makes it more visible (I just thought it was kinda funny and one less thing to wear down).
    I also have a 4002 for a dolled up and automatic variant/iteration of it, so if anyone ever said it doesn't make sense to have a non-automatic "El Primero", I could counter with "I have one of those, too".

    Again very interesting. I have a Breitling 37mm Chrono cockpit I bought in 1996. At the time it was Breitlings attempt to offer a smaller version of their full sized Chronomat. Having a smaller wrist it was perfect for me as would the model. The discussion of the column wheel was very good, I am lucky enough to have three column wheel Chronographs all Breitling versions of the B01. Two with a display case back that allow me to see it operate. I will concede the Zenith movement is much more elegant than the BO1. May I ask if the Zenith have a vertical clutch or is it a Cam. Maybe that lever you pointed out is the answer. Beautiful watch Alexander at such a reasonable price point. That's again for sharing it with us.

      @@WatchAdvisor let me begin with a size, as we age we are loosing our sight. Altough i am 41 i can barely see the numbers on my 40mm watch. The watch, for the majority of us is a tool and we wear it long time. So a perfect size for a chrono can be around 40 to 42 mm. Colour for me white dial or a blue. And a date window is a welcome. İt must at least 50m water resistant. The sub dials needs to track the min and hour. Colours can be contrasting. I love the design language of zenith and also like the tudors chronograph however dont like the snowflake hands. The case material steel or bronze ( ı sold some bronze rods to tudor a couple of years ago) bracelet must be leather. And for my preferance the most important part is the glass, it must be domed glass. I love how domed watches look like. Take care.

      @gregorychants It’s due to the 3D textured circular ridges inscribed in each subdial! If you look closely at how each sub-dial is made, they have a 3D texture to it. So when they overlap, the outer circle overlapping the under sub-dial (at 6 o’clock) rides over those 3D textured circles. Thats NOT an imperfection, it’s just how each sub-dial is made.

      This is a relict from old chronographs... A decimal graduation divides the minute into 100 parts allowing for the decimal conversion of time. It was used mainly for industrial and scientific timing operations. The decimal graduation is used in conjunction with the chronograph allowing you to measure and translate time into decimal values in a controlled environment, e.g. to make calculations of time or cost prices.

    I can't understand why is there that 💯th scale below the tachymeter... I 💬 the chronograph measured 💯th of a second but clearly that's not the case. So what's the reason of that 💯 scale?
    The same with the other ⌚ having a 🔟 scale. I know El Primero can measure 🔟th of a second but once again what's the scale good for?

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A decimal scale divides the minute into 100 parts allowing for the decimal conversion of time. This was used primarily for industrial and scientific timing operations, to e.g. make calculations of time or cost prices. @@WatchAdvisor for that measurement application it's quite better a watch with a moveable slide rule like the Breitling Navitimer... much more versatility there.
      I rather find this scale confusing if not misleading. Because that's the same scale used on the El Primero 9004 caliber 👎🏼🆖️ the difference is that the 💯 scale actually makes sense there.
      The only good thing here is that you can confirm this ⌚ is 5️⃣ Hz because every single mark on that 💯 scale will perfectly align with the seconds 🖐🏻 The reason is that there are 5️⃣ divisions in every second so there are 3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ seconds markings in total. Therefore every 3️⃣ of these markings, you'll find 1️⃣ of the markings of the 💯th scale. That perfect alignment can't be achieved with a 4️⃣ Hz ⌚

      @@WatchAdvisor so you dont care that it makes reading the minute and seconds subdial impossible? Doesnt that defeat the purpose of a chronograph? Btw ive owned that particular el primero and sold it bc it was so annoying

      Reading is still possible, so this is not a dealbreaker... in contrary! The Zenith El Primero is the only chronograph looking different...
