  • This was my entry for the composition competition run by MuseScore and the Reddit Symphony Orchestra - it ended up getting 3rd place! Many thanks to the mod team at r/theredditsymphony and the people at MuseScore for running this amazing event.
    I created this piece with the goal of writing something fun to play and listen to. It flows between fast-paced, energetic passages and dreamy solo sequences before arriving at the con fuoco climax.
    Enjoy, and as usual, thanks for listening!

    • @andyzhanmusic
      @andyzhanmusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Keep up your studying of music theory, it'll be very useful for writing orchestral works! I also recommend analysing the score of pieces you like, and listening to them a lot while reading the score - paying attention to how the composers use each instrument and how they develop their themes.
      You could also try writing a piece for a solo instrument or a small chamber piece first and then work your way up to a full orchestra!
      Best of luck :)

  • @An-br7hb
    @An-br7hb ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice!
    I wanted to ask you two questions:
    What sound library is this?
    - How do you get dynamics and slurs during playback without having anything written in the score? Neither dynamics nor slurs are written for each instrument.

    • @andyzhanmusic
      @andyzhanmusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!
      The sound library is NotePerformer, which I used after moving the music to Sibelius to generate the audio.
      I actually did write dynamics and slurs, but they're just hidden on the full score. This is because I need to write a lot of extra dynamics and tempo changes for the playback to sound good and it can get quite messy. Those dynamics don't reflect how I'd write the dynamics for real human players.
