If I had millions of dollars I would take every dog and cat and give them the run of a palace and the best care ever. I would go there and love them and no more cages. I love how you love Jax.
Great to see some love for the cats and dogs. That is wonderful. Congrats on the unexpected development on a place to settle in. Funny thing is a stationary RV is still the RV life. Randy in MN
So, this is just an agreement to trade my presence on the commercial site (not specific Security checks or perimeter walks. For my presence, I get no monetary income, just the legal spot to park and live, water, septic, garbage, wifi, and electric. I do not need to be awake all night ever. Just be there, to hear doors or glass being broken, and alarms that may go off. I'll have my days to secure some work for cash to pay for my own needs.
***** It's an official "employment" like I said in the video so that my residence on commercial land is legal, and also, he might have work for me later.
My family and I currently have a similar arrangement with a private individual. We are watching his property (the house is empty). The owner is out of state and selling the house. Full hook ups, free rent. I still work full time, plus do my weekly radio show, so all is good. God bless you in your endeavors.
Sounds like a good deal, Eric. And I agree with those that commented about not letting anything show up in your videos that might identify where you are. I'd suggest you not talk about your arrangements with the other party anymore. It's a bitch that life has to be this way, but we have to keep our locations away from prying eyes. Glad you've found such a good deal and will be able to take some time to regroup.
I'm so glad for you, Eric. It has to be a great feeling not to have to be on guard in case someone objected to where you were parked. It's time, my friend for, as you said, a more stable situation. I pray that it will be a compatible working relationship for you there. (:
I love this whole video. I love the kitties!! It's just great that you've found work AND a place to park with hookups! See, good things happen. Keep pumpin' those positive vibes.
Just be careful shooting your next video ( as you said you will be careful) . Make sure no visible signage, or building landmarks are recognizable. You have a few people in this world who like to mess with you (via leaving crazy messages), I wouldn't put it past them if they came down to your work/home site to mess with you, or try to spook you if they recognized a building or overpass etc.. Keep up the great videos. Glad you found something that will help you. Also glad you turned you messages back on.
I LOVE your videos Nomadic! Especially your spunk! Acting as "security" at businesses and construction sites is well known among full-timers in RVs. It is usually mentioned in most books on the subject. They will even pay you to clean up after hours at construction sites and if you have a wood stove, that means FREE firewood for heat. Also, just think of anywhere there is parking, you can usually park for the night or weekend. Church parking lots (they never said anything to me) hospital parking lots (just don't run your generator there) apartment lots, grocery lots, you name it. I had a list of places I would hop from night to night and then back again for over a year and never had a problem. Enjoy your adventures! Also, for sitting and doing your "work" inside during the day, city parks and cemeteries are great! Nice and quiet at the cemetery. Just don't stay all night. Cops will run you off for fear of vandalism.
Dude...rent free is HUGE! Congratulations! Just remember not to tell anyone (definitely your viewers) when your days off are specifically and what the name of the business is. Wouldn't want prospective criminals to know when you're not going to be at the business.
Agreed as well. That would give his vindictive haters and trolls a reason to foil his plans. Never tell anyone about when you leave, not a good idea with all the drama you've been having. I would just leave, then upload after I get back from the trip.
Sounds good! A legal and long term place to stay (along with all the RV hook-ups and wi-fi) must be a pretty attractive opportunity, and will (hopefully) remove the stress and pain in the butt of having to constantly relocate. Will you have to make the rounds all night and "clock in" at a series of security checkpoints? Anyway, very cool that you came up with this idea, and I hope it works out!
Watched a number of your videos today. Good, simple info. You are easy to listen to. Pleasant voice and pace. No $10 words. You seems like a very nice guy! Good luck to you.
sounds like a solid plan Eric. One day at a time. I learn a lot from you. Don't quit on us we love your little face on You Tube. Happy Birthday to your Mom. Be Sweet and Be Safe.
told you something would come your way :) I do this for an electronics shop in so cal in my van, no contract tho...i have a part time day job as well. Allows me to save up some $$. Very happy for you, good to see you smile.
Hey Eric! This is FANTASTIC for you. I'm so happy for you. Craigs list was how I have my job now for 3 1/2 years. I took care of my Mom for 8 years and this job was very flexible. I do thnk you should get a little $$ on top of the free rent tho. I bought a 1993 Toyota motorhome 11 months ago when my Mom was still with us. I have it 95% ready to start full timing next spring. Have to sell the house and then I'm going traveling! Dana
I'm very glad for you. My wife and I do camp hosting, and work camping full time. We only pay to park when we switch jobs. We are in one place for 6 months at a time. We usually follow the weather, south in the winter and north in the summer. We wouldn't have it any other way!
That's awesome, Eric. At first I thought you got a job at the shelter. RVer Filix works at a motel and he's allowed to park on the property with all the hookups, too except sewer, I think. Camp workers are people that work at campgrounds in exchange for a camping spot with all the amenities. That is so cool how this job came around for you.
***** The way I understand what Eric has said and written, he does not work for 56 hours, he only has to be on site with exterior lights on and such. That would put his pay at the level of "on call" as the closest comparable job. Free hookup for that does not sound too bad. He did say (I thought) that he had to walk two rounds at night, but in one of the posts mentions no rounds. If there are rounds to be walked, you could count that as work. Overall not too bad IMHO. Only downside is that he is "working" 7 nights a week, and has only negotiated 3 3-day absences. Is that 3 days (2 nights) or 3 nights? 3 nights would be about right. 3 days would not be enough. But in any case, this solves Eric's short term problem of no money to even drive around, and having to drive around to find spots to sleep. He has the time and flexibility to find some money paying work in the day (not too much if he needs to stay up at night!) to cover the incidentals. I would say, good for him, and see how it works out.
***** I guess that is where we understand things differently. Watching the building all night would definitely be work in my book. But I understood that he only had to be there. So he could be watching a movie, play a game, read a book or edit his videos. Those are activities that I would not allow my "on duty" security guard to do. I guess we will have to wait how things develop as and when Eric reports on his nights on site.
Congratulations on the new gig. I hope this all works out perfectly for you, as others have said it would have been nice to get a little cash with the job but that may come in due time. I'm excited for you.
I'm happy for you. Sounds great! I had to laugh when you said "I thought this was something I thought up on my own", because I have done that so many times.
What a blessing Eric! Many prayers have been lifted and I know this provision was provided because Jesus is aware of your needs. I'm really happy for you and love the way He provides! Just draw near and build that relationship He so desires...I am delighted and look forward to your updates and am so thankful you have so many that express love and encouragement to you! :)
I wish I'd discovered these vids when they were current, but if you're still on the road, check out campgrounds for a position as a work camper. Basically, you'd spend a few hours a day working, mowing lawns, working the register, etc., and in exchange you get a site with full hookups. I used to manage a Jellystone Park, and we also provided propane, firewood and ice.
I tend to judge humans based on how they treat other animals, so I appreciate the fact that you'd spend time lifting the spirits of those cats and dogs at the shelter. Good on ya. Also, I'm glad you got the gig for free parking, but I am concerned the all-night hours will impede your ability to get income-providing work. You're still going to need money, and it's going to be tough to get that kind of employment if you need to work all night and sleep during the day. Hopefully the new adsense income will help with this, but it's something to watch out for--if you find it's impossible to do anything during the day, you'll want to abandon ship there. Otherwise I'm afraid it'd be easy to fall into a rut there with the free parking but no real opportunity for advancement.
Awesome Eric!!!! Congrats!!! Told you last video to check out Craigslist on the last video. Glad it worked out. Cant wait to see the video about new place today.
Good things happen for Good People, glad to hear you have landing ground....rock and roll and keep us posted everyday....build that sub list again and get youtube to pay you some money....
Hey Eric, I have not paid rent in 4 years. I have managed apartment complexes, motels or lived in an RV in between. Here's my recommendation for additional income. Snow removal (does it snow there? LOL.) landscaping, painting, basic repairs, cleaning, do they have a website or a youtube video to bring in more clients? You can do that for them. Good luck with your new job! Maria
Erick, great job with the animal shelter. I could not do that....I would adopt 50 dogs. I love animals and some of those dogs are so cute! But this gives me an idea of what I could do to travel in an RV that I have not bought yet.
Sounds like a great opportunity. It may work long time, even into the summer when you can get some paid work on site. Or it may just be short or medium term. But that would still give you a chance to get settled, sort out your finances and your plans. I hope that the w2 is only to get you on the books as an employee and therefore authorized to be on site, with a "zero hour" contract. In other words, no pay unless you actually are given a job. Their insurance company may require this, but property insurance ("you let a stranger live on site? no way we will pay for the break-in") and for their liability insurance. Hopefully there are no tax implications for the BIK (benefits in kind) that you receive as parking (valued at just below the untaxed amount?). Good luck! And happy BD for your mom.
It worked for me for several years. I used to own an office complex in a less than perfect neighborhood and put in water and electric access. During the time that I had someone living in an RV in the parking lot I had zero problems. Then, one of the neighbors got into an argument with my watchman filed a complaint with the city and I got a visit from code compliance. He had to go. Within 90 days, in spite of cameras and alarms, someone stole my security cameras.
Congratulations! I did security work for several years, except I was getting free rent, electricity and other amenities in an apartment. All I had do to was walk around the property and check things out three times at night. It is nice to see you getting a place which helps ease your mind. One thing you might want to do is check with the owner before you film any of his property. He may not want people recognizing where you are. But the job can be really nice considering you are getting electricity, water, and sewer for free for your services. Be glad you don't have to punch a time clock every hour. One place I worked had several floors and we only had 20 minutes to run (Yes literally) to each checkpoint and stick a key in it and turn so it would record the time. There were 15 checkpoints......needless to say we got in shape running all night. We had 15 minutes to sit down every hour and it was off again. Whew, glad I don't have to do that anymore. If you see anything going on and you don't have to confront the people, calling the police is a good idea. Be careful though. best wishes and lots of routing for you. John P
It's cool for you to take a break from the pressure to move every day or two, with hookups... U should save up for few 400 watt solar panels,,, never need electrical hookup again !
OMG, I want the black-with-white-nose-stripe kittie! Congrats on the new gig, and very wise insite: the break from the chaos of the recent past will be very very good for you. Ideas for future vids: I'm in the dreaming and visioning stage, and am frustrated by lack of info about interior space size. Also, I have ideas, and would want to purchase a used RV, gut and rebuild. How do I find a reputable builder?
I want to do the same thing. Not sure where to start. been thinking about this for a year. Need to make it happen soon. Any ideas out there for doing the RV thing full time with two small dogs?
Thank you very much. I'm afraid to buy something older than a 2010. Not sure where to look. Dealer or private individual? I've look at a few online at RV dealers, low mileage, etc. Not sure what size to buy. Just me and two little dogs. This will be a full-time home for me. Also trying to locate full-time parking in Wa. state.
Great job man! I hope it works out for you and you can continue to do other stuff you like. Screw the haters and trolls; stay true to yourself and live bro. Nice video as always!
Congrats Eric. I know you will feel better with the move being able to have power, water, sewer, and WiFi . I hope it works out for you. I do have one question, will there be any issues with the video making and recordings at the new location. Privacy issues with the owner at the business? Just looking out for you. Rvpreper, Wayne.
It's called Work Kamping! So glad to meet you on utube. My hubby n I will be working at the Kalaloch beach for this coming summer. Free hookups for our RV. A little money. Close to grandkids. It's a good life.
Good news! I remember reading a blog about oilfield gate security provided by RV owners (think it was "myoldrv" website), sounded like quite a cottage industry...
Glad things are looking up for you. It takes a lot of pressure of ones shoulders when one can settle for a little while. Now get those coupons out so you can get some free, or almost free food to stock up on your stores; thats what l'm doing to stretch my money. Glad for you.
pieter zeeuwen most food banks don't give out allot, and may only allow you one visit per month or every 3 months which ever they have set. Food banks are not something you can rely on. if he is unable to come up with a day job quick enough he may have to apply for emergency SNAP benefits, which he should be able to get because now legally he is working but is not receiving "enough" to eat. After he finds a day job he then have to report it. They would then adjust his snap benefits to his current income. Which with a day job and not paying bills out of it. they likely just cancel the benefits due to 2 legal jobs so in their eyes he would be making too much money. I was on emergency SNAP while i was job hunting before. After i started working. they reduced my benefits to $17 a month i told them just to close it. lol Bet hell, a full time night job that covers living thats not too labor heavy. and just a simple part time day job would be enough to eat off of every month. Sounds comfy to me. I might even try it in the future.
Troy Foxxin I only mentioned the food bank as a short term solution. Better get some (a bit) food now than to starve while trying to get that part-time job. It is always better to stand on your own two feet than to depend on charity or social security (by whatever name it goes). But those solutions are there if you need them. Maybe later he can donate to the food bank (again) if he has something to spare, so he can pay it back to society.
pieter zeeuwen he very much could full time night and full time day work. but regardless to his insomnia statement there has to be a moment of sleep and rest, and not make it just about working and working. So i think the best fit for him if he ok with labor a part time job. (labor ones easy to find). Part time at a labor should provide a nice payout that he can put into food, gas, Jax, Phone. the rest is already taken care of. and i understand your mention of the food bank. but all i was saying was its not even short term worthy. Here a house of 3 you get like maybe 1 or 2 meals if you're lucky. after that then there homeless kitchens. but some how Eric strikes me as someone that would rather go without eating long as he could before going to a homeless kitchen. lol
Have you thought about getting another cat? You're the only channel I've found so far that travels with your cat! I begin my travels in about 8 months with my cat Louie after my lease is up, which gives me plenty of time to build my van how I want it. Anyway, safe travels for you and Jax.
Great news - some stability for you and Jax. You might need to consider the German Shepherd dog you saw at the animal shelter if you're going to be on security detail :) ATB and Birthday greetings to your Mom
Great news! Congratulations! Careful on what you post about the location. Some of the haters will try to screw this up for you. Sounds like a great deal and may lead to more work.
Baseless assertion. I'm not interested in anything you can't prove. I'll need to see the court documents first. Even if he is a felon you can't predict whats in someones head or the future so he could have turned over a new leaf.
Don't pretend like your a victim. You came after me asserting things you cannot prove. If you have documents showing that he is a convicted felon present them. That bullshit page you sent me to provides no proof of that and is not worth my time. In short, get a life.
I did click on it. Doesn't look like pdf scans of court documents so I'm not interested in "gossip" I only care about facts. If he is a "convicted" felon of 6 times there will be a paper trail. I'll need that to convince me. I'll donate all I want to this man specifically to spite you if I feel like it. Doesn't it hurt that we live in a free country. Now stop whining over what other people do with their time and money and find a constructive interest.
We have a limestone spring about 1 min out of town. It's a pipe stuck in the mountain and water pours all the time. You can hook up a water hose to it and fill water jugs or your rv or whatever. I sometimes go over and just fill up a couple gallon jugs. Best water in the world limestone mountain spring water. I am 44 and its been there longer than i been alive. Our city water also comes from limestone springs that run into the city resovoir. Nice trout fishing and the best water in the world. I been all over the country and we have the best water hands down.
My Tioga is in someone's side yard. I have Electricity, Water, and wifi. I unhook and go dump. And I put a little fresh gas in once a week. And drive her to keep all functioning.
I love the crits Eric, but wonder if you could maybe edit the barking/meowing for my dog's sake? In future videos, that is. She is almost always in my lap, and when she hears dog on my iPad, she .... well, she thinks there's another hound, or cat. Jumps out of a deep sleep. I just love crits.
I wouldn't show anything about the business. I know it is tempting but think about all the crap that happened at school from the haters. Also, all those people called the park you park at sometimes and even walmart. I wouldn't do it Eric. Keep it secret as possible. Sucks that it has to be that way.
chickeneyed When you provide security, even at a low level like this, it is his presence on site that would help the business. Attracting whatever weirdos on the internet have it in for Eric does not help. It is true that he is known, and whoever sees his RV at a business may recognize it. But that would only be by people who actually drive around business districts. If I were that business owner, I would definitely put in the contract that I would not want the company name or address (and type of business unless it is a very common one) advertised on the internet. It is like having a security system for your house. You put a sign in the lawn and on the windows to deter whoever is already thinking of targeting your house. You do not advertise your security system in the local newspaper.
i fully agree eric do not show anything from where u are parked or the business. the idiots that hate on u will try to cause things. online bullying is a federal crime now so if they do this to u they can be charged and youtube would have to give their ip address and location to police. just do not show anything in ur videos that will show ur location bro.
This "job" is a godsend right now. Letting all the haters know where you are at is just inviting trouble. At least wait until you develop a relationship with your boss.
What would space rent cost in a regular RV park (by the month) in your area? I'm guessing about $500 including utilities. $600 tops Divide that by your hourly rate if you were being paid such as $10 an hour. So, in exchange for your rent you'd be there guaranteed 50 to 60 hours a month. You need to stipulate a fair exchange in your contract. The way you've got it now, you'll guarantee being there 50 hours a week or so? Add up the actual hours you anticipate and divide into that rent amount. You're giving yourself away for peanuts. No wonder they're jumping at it! Think this through a bit more, Eric. It's an excellent idea, however they're expecting far too many hours in exchange for the value of rent and utilities. Do the math. Please don't set yourself up to be exploited. Good on you for coming up with this idea! I can appreciate the desire for stability. That's perhaps my one real bugaboo keeping me from full time RV life.
If I had millions of dollars I would take every dog and cat and give them the run of a palace and the best care ever. I would go there and love them and no more cages. I love how you love Jax.

Way to go Eric. I'm so glad things are looking up. Looking forward to seeing some videos on how your hooking up to the site. Thanks for sharing.
Eric--I'm excited for you and your new opportunity! Good to see you excited as well. I wish nothing but the best going forward. jw

That is a really smart idea and I'm sure a business with past vandalism would need your service as far as being there as a deterrent to such activity!
Happy for you Eric. Glad your Mom is close by, wish her Happy Birthday!

I love going to the Thurston County animal shelter. we adopted a Havanese puppy there and he has been a lot of fun--a comic relief for sure.
Great job, Eric! Excited to hear how this works for you.
Awesome Eric!!!! Congrats!!! Told you last video to check out Craigslist on the last video. Glad it worked out. Cant wait to see the video about new place today.
This is all awesome news man! You inspire me. Continue to be true to yourself.
You go guy! That sounds like a perfect job for a while! We all have to have extra money and sometimes some stable place for a while. Smart thinking!
Great scenery shots, love your videos. have a great trip
Man as someone who spent 5 years in prison I hate to see animals caged up like that. I know exactly how they feel.
Good for you Eric! Finally a place with much less stress. Hope you enjoyed dinner on your Mom's b-day. Take care.
Happy to see this good fortune for you! Best of Luck to you. Looking forward to more great videos!
Glad to hear things are looking up. hope to keep getting updates and im happy for ya bud
Good things happen for Good People, glad to hear you have landing ground....rock and roll and keep us posted everyday....build that sub list again and get youtube to pay you some money....
How awesome of an opportunity this will b. So happy for u and Jax. I hope it works out the way u want. Good thinking !!!
Good luck man, it is always good to slowdown and have some kind of stability for some time... enjoy and have fun...
Maria
Good ideas Maria. Thx.
By the way, the things I recommended, you can do a few hours a day while you are guarding the place so you are not using your off time for it.
Great ideas.
Sounds like you're getting a much needed break with this new situation. Good on ya, Eric!
Erick, great job with the animal shelter. I could not do that....I would adopt 50 dogs. I love animals and some of those dogs are so cute! But this gives me an idea of what I could do to travel in an RV that I have not bought yet.
You must be the kitteh whisperer ;)
This is very creative and proved to be quite informational!
Great idea, I'm going to look into it when I retire from the Air Force in a year & a half.
I just wanted to say..Happy Birthday to your mom!!!
I think this is a great idea...good luck on this happening and working out for you...
Very happy for you. I hope it works out for you. Good luck. 😄
Happy to hear things looking up;) u see things do get better great news!
The sun hasn't shown in 19 days, and we might not see it again til next March, but it'll work in the summer.
It cant rain everyday even in Washington. Congrats Eric Looks like you did really good on this one. Enjoy and congrats again.
Congratulations !!! Hope everything works out good for you.
We'll see...
Happy Birthday Eric's Mom! Congrats on the security gig. Be careful.
Sounds like an awesome deal Eric, I'm happy for you.
That's awesome! Win win! May want a jacket that says security on it! Helps when you have to deal
With people or police. Mace is good too.
It's called Work Kamping! So glad to meet you on utube. My hubby n I will be working at the Kalaloch beach for this coming summer. Free hookups for our RV. A little money. Close to grandkids. It's a good life.
Sounds great, hope it all works out. At least it will give you a little peace of mind.
Good for you eric! That sounds like a real nice gig.
I thought Jax was prego & was having kitties, LOL! nice find on the new gig...I guess I will find out how it went after I watch more videos...CHEERS!
Good news! I remember reading a blog about oilfield gate security provided by RV owners (think it was "myoldrv" website), sounded like quite a cottage industry...
Love Olympia, was there for the Sqaxin Island Tribal journey the other year.
Happy for you. Glad things are leveling out for you...... Enjoy your vids.....
I'm happy for you! I hope that it goes smoothly for you.
I've been wanting to leave a message to nomadic for a long time

Well thanks for messaging. Nice to hear from you. And good luck with the vanlife.
Nomadic Fanatic you think about one day visiting us down in Australia

Great Vid Eric, Enjoyed the kitties
Workamping! There are thousands of people doing it - great news Eric!
thank god you got job man ive been rootin for you
Glad things are looking up for you. It takes a lot of pressure of ones shoulders when one can settle for a little while. Now get those coupons out so you can get some free, or almost free food to stock up on your stores; thats what l'm doing to stretch my money. Glad for you.
He could even go to the food bank, considering he has no cash and an empty cupboard.
pieter zeeuwen most food banks don't give out allot, and may only allow you one visit per month or every 3 months which ever they have set.
After i started working. they reduced my benefits to $17 a month i told them just to close it. lol
Bet hell, a full time night job that covers living thats not too labor heavy. and just a simple part time day job would be enough to eat off of every month.
Here a house of 3 you get like maybe 1 or 2 meals if you're lucky. after that then there homeless kitchens. but some how Eric strikes me as someone that would rather go without eating long as he could before going to a homeless kitchen. lol
Excellent music choice for this one.
Good luck on ur new endevour....!best wishes, positive vibes...
Good for you Eric, you deserve it hope it works out for you!
Great Eric, this does sound like a great situation for you!
I'm so happy for you! Your videos are awesome...
Baseless assertion. I'm not interested in anything you can't prove. I'll need to see the court documents first. Even if he is a felon you can't predict whats in someones head or the future so he could have turned over a new leaf.
Matt Smith Deleted his comment out of intellectual dishonesty. Stupid troll. No one cares what you have to say.
My father's dead. Just like your frontal lobes and capacity for reasoning.
And drive her to keep all functioning.
good for you Eric. Congrats!!
That's awsome it sounds great for u and jacks
Relate to being a night owl, best time to enjoy snow, peace & quiet!!!
Yeah Eric, keep that location out of your videos.
Very happy for you. Winters is comming.
